  1. Haven't logged in here for a while. But got the ol' Connie out for rip today. After 12year and 80k miles still love this old girl.

  2. I was in Alberta and BC particularly around the Banff/Golden area in July of this year. I could not explain how beautiful it is up there. I also could not imagine what riding a motorcycle like you're about to do would be like. Unimaginably epic.

  6. Mounted and balanced the new tires. Then took the rear rotor off the stock wheel and mounted it to the new rear wheel from Woodys. Then mounted the 320mm front rotor and mounted the wheels for the first time on the new bike. After that I installed the Safari tank (all new hardware, new petcocks, new fuel line and fittings) and plumbed the fuel lines. Then installed the fairing and re-aimed the headlight and light bar. The last item is the new shock being built for the bike by Cogent Dynamics. For the 82,000 miles on the original Sunny I ran a Cogent Mojave shock. This bike is getting a new Cogent Mojave Pro model (large remote reservoir with adjustable compression damping as well) as well as their hydraulic preload adjuster. It’ll be awesome to be able to soften the preload bit when riding the bike without all the luggage. Once the shock is in, fuel is going in and startup!! It’ll be great to see how it runs. I only rode it 10 miles or so before tearing the bike down. Some minor changes have been made from stock. Better air filter. Carb rejetted and modified with ethanol-proof o-rings and gaskets as well as a remote choke knob and manual air/fuel mixture screw (only needed one tweak on old carb in all those miles. Had to open up the air in Peru when over 16,000 ft). I’m also running a different exhaust can. The bike ripped stock. I’m sure it’ll be sweet. Alaska Ho!

  7. Amanda and I took the Goldwing to breakfast and a quickie around Atwood Lake. Stopped in Bolivar for ice cream and then down 212 to 21/224 back home. About 150 miles and the Wing doesn't even know she's back there. This was her first time back in the saddle since the crash more than two years ago. Everything went smoothly and she's glad she decided to give it another whirl. Twenty bucks says there's a new Goldie in the garage by next spring. 😎

  11. Took Sunny 2.0 for her first real ride. An easy 100mi wander through Amish farmlands. It felt so good to be on a bike again.

  12. Added turn signals, horn, and brake lights to the TE300, to make it street legal. Sent the new Goldwing seat to Russell Cycle products for the Day Long modification. Hopefully, it will be back in time for a trip to Smokies at the end of March.

  14. Made it Back home pa & ny are great 2lane high speed low traffic roads like 83 and 78 in Ohio except 4times bigger area you could probably drive 300 miles of woods and not hit a city can’t say there’s a Pacific route to take, but the better roads are the ones by putting a point somewhere in the middle of nowhere judging by aerial views, and how twisty they are, the further north, you go, the bigger the mountains are i rode 1480miles of two lanes 40miles of four-lane s only reason to get on four-lane is because of a gravel roads otherwise you actually make better time on the 2lanes Overall northern roads are not as twisty as oh,wv,nc,tn,ky. But road conditions are much better not a lot of cops or patrol perfect to ride 2 up or for cruising or get away from traffic and commercialized motorcycle roads New York food sucks pa food is great

  17. I haven’t posted in a while, life’s been busy. I sold my 2022 KLR650. Two short hours later I bought another bike. Those who know me, I like my big heavy sport touring bikes. The KLR was enough for me to realize ADV doesn’t scratch that itch for me, so I’m heading back to my old home. I’m going back to the trusty FJR! I got a low mileage 2006 with a nice taste of farkles. I pick it up Friday. Probably hit some twisties on the way home. I can’t wait to get wrenching on this thing and making it my own. Got a gap trip planned in July. I don’t have any photos of my own yet but here’s one from the listing.

  18. 443 miles chasing Tony's BMW through Ohio and WV. My new handlebar upgrade has turned the RS into a very capable barn stormer. This bike is zoomier than ever and now flicks effortlessly through switchbacks... which settles the debate once and for all... Clipons are for nerds.

  19. Two new tires, new upgraded cam chain tensioner, re-torqued steering bearings (after finding out the previous owner already upgraded to tapered roller bearings), new tail light bulbs, dif oil change, removed and plugged the secondary air system, and still gotta put the led headlights in. Dad helped me a bunch and got started on it while I was at work. Almost all back together now. Bar risers on the way too…

  20. Began prep work for the Cycle South Summer 2023 Up in Smoke Tour. Leaving June 10th. Visiting all the states with legal recreational weed and sampling. Camping mostly. Riding sections of multiple BDR’s as well. Should be a wild one!

  21. Shakedown ride. Runs great. Super comfortable. Could stop a little quicker, but it's 1000 lbs and older than most on the road. I was able to get my emergency braking to the point of making the front bark, bark, bark... until it stopped. That's all the brakes the Dunlops can handle in the dry without a pillion. Will be a learning curve coming from the new Wing and the BMW. Adjusted throttle cable slack after the test ride and found out I could raise the windshield even higher than I thought. All quirks remedied. Still, a super nice bike and am happy with the overall ride. I even ordered a retrofit kit to turn the cornering lights into LED driving lights. Should be here in a couple days.

  25. Removed the faux wood trim from the rear storage doors. Took longer than I'd like, but shorter than expected. May work my way through the cockpit this winter, but I'm satisfied with how this turned out.

  28. Wow, that is fucking terrible. Imagine if that was a group of motorcycles coming the other way. I've had both cars and motorcycles come into my lane on the dragon. That road is super fun, but I won't ride it on weekends, and preferably 1st thing in the morning. As much as I like the roads by Deals Gap, I actually prefer riding in WV. The roads are 95% as good, with 99% less shenanigans...not to mention less cops, less traffic, and fewer towns to ride through...and it's sooo much closer. I ride more miles of curvy roads on a WV trip then I do on a Gap Trip.

  29. Back in Ohio, just beating the record floods in Vermont. After weeks of rambling around the states in the NE, I grew tired of riding and camping in the rain. In my travels I’ve camped just about everywhere but packing up wet shit day after day gets old. So back to Ohio is was, where I’m staying at my friend Donnie’s place in Amish country just south of Wooster. Here I’ve been resting and ordering needed parts for maintenance on the bike. New air filter. New plugs after a valve inspection (all in spec after 74,000 miles!), fresh brakes out back, fresh fork oil and seals, new chain and sprockets and she’s ready for more. But with most of the country west of the Mississippi experiencing record heat I’m reluctant to head West to the states there. Besides it wasn’t long ago I was living in Denver in a wheelchair, waiting for the endless series of surgeries on my crushed leg, and smoking a lot of quality weed. So the next leg will be into Canada, leaving in a week or so. I’ll be camping and fishing all along the way. I just replaced my Kelty tent that I camped with through 22 countries with a larger, lighter single-wall, single-pole teepee design. I’ve also upgraded a few other pieces of my well-worn camping gear with nice new shiny stuff. So let’s see how good Canada’s weed is!

  31. I came back to my senses after a short episode of temporary insanity and possible dementia where I test rode and considered buying a newish HD. Thank goodness the Harley dealer had deceptive & predatory sales tactics which snapped me out of it. And instead I bought a minty fresh 2020 Triumph Street Twin **note** the Harley M8 motor (especially the transmission) feels more like a modern motorcycle and less like farm equipment.

  32. I try and keep it around 400 but it varies. Days where there is lots to do are closer to 300. Days when it is just a freeway run it is in the high 400's. Days when it is all back roads are in the lower 300's. So 6 to 7 hours. We always plan stuff to see along the way. Even if it is just a quick stop for the world's largest cow. I plan the basic route then she hits the internet and finds those things. We stop for a real lunch at mom and pop diners most days. We also book nice hotels and make sure there is good food nearby. It's different from a guy trip to the Gap. Hotels, food and things to do are important. I joke about the casinos but she loves them, so we hit them. They are quick stops. As big as this trip was I maybe should have planned a day off somewhere. Not sure where as we were in the middle of nowhere most of the time. We did plan one shorter day to do laundry. Just hit a good laundromat and bang it out. We did decide at the last minute to do two 500 mile days the last two days. We were in Fargo. 1000 miles to home. Doing three short freeway days seemed like a waste of time. The first 500 was a long day as we spent 2 hours at Princes house. That was a 12 hour day, but not bad because of the break at Princes house. Unfortunately Prince wasn't home. Start out small, 3 or 4 days. Find yours and her grove. You will have to negotiate stops. My wife prefers more frequent stops although the last day I talked her into 130 mile runs between stops and she seemed to be ok and recognized the advantage. Frequent stops does not make it better it just drags it out when it is just a freeway run.

  35. I just cant help myself. I removed the silver switch box on the clutch master cylinder and pulled the wires. Now that it has the uber LEDs, I don't need that. Replaced the chrome speaker covers for OEM for aesthetic reasons. No more cigarette lighter. Now it's sporting a BMW plug that will be wired directly to the battery for heated gear (lol..as if I will ever need that), battery tender and a 12v USB charger. I have hardware on the way to lose the CB mic mount that I will never use. I am also doing a little more chromectomy surgery, but am almost ready to leave it alone.

  39. Had a good time this weekend down in NC for N2 Trackday's staff-only event. A time where all of N2's staff gets together to hang out, train, and all get on the same page for the upcoming season. I had a new bike to test out. R6 ran great and I dont think I'll ever own a bike without auto-blip again. There are 3 bikes in the above pic Me, Jester, Ronstoppable, and Blue06636 all in one photo. Slowest guy in front

  41. Rode the Oldwing to drop off my city taxes. Runs well, considering it's three decades old. Windscreen was in the worst place it could be... right at eyeball level. I only had the option to lift it, so I did. Never rode a bike looking through the glass before. Should be a fun experience. Timing belts and oil/filter should be here in a few days. Spark plugs/air cleaner were replaced at 20k miles, so those are not being replaced this season. Carbs were rebuilt and sync'd as well. With the exception of the timing belts, which I just don't trust based on age, this bike is maintained above/beyond my own expectations. Now.. where do I find Ohlins for a bike this old?
