The new season of the $10K Drag Shootout is live and we will be dropping new episodes each week. This season is insane on so many levels between the quality of the builds, team drama and much more.

World 100 looks amazing, I loved the pics you had on Facebook while working that event!
That event was totally bad ass for sure. Dirt tracker drivers are some of, if not the best pure drivers out there. Those cars are moving in 3 different directions it seems at one time at a high rate of speed.

So, Wags post the most race-related content on CR in days and zero responses in 8 hours.
LOL. Love you, Wags! <3
Well, it's race-related so it won't get any responses...

Wait until you see Avalon TRD ...
GOT ME ALL EXCITE IN THE PLUMBS AND GARDEN HOSE

I can teach you to drive a manual if you want Mr Salty Tears. Just ask.
Got one that I drive now, had some others, meh...

So since the beginning of August I've been traveling pretty much every weekend for work to cover events. I got to cover the biggest No Prep race of the year, biggest one day drag race in the world, the U.S. Nationals, and the biggest dirt late model race in the world. On top of all that I had to carry my normal workload so I think I'm going to take a few weeks off before No Mercy
Here are some links to the insanity of the past 5 weeks.

Is this what we have become?
Some yes, that and those who cry about transmissions in cars.

This what usually happens to things. It’s a great idea, people don’t show up to the first one, people give up, and in less then 6 months it’s gone. My car was not ready for the first one, a month later when it was ready Anthony was in the hospital and Wagner got busy with work. I’m not blaming anyone because shit happens, but I don’t think it had a chance.
On a side note this is why I’m so happy to see what has happened to Cars & Coffee. When it started there were maybe a half dozen of us that went regularly, but here it is many years later and it has become something that happens every week regardless because it kept getting pushed along until it basically runs itself with so many people knowing about it. Amazing how there were times 3-4 of us would show up, to now there are times that whole parking lot is full.
That's why I'm going to work with National Trail Raceway next year on this. It won't be just CR people so it will have a chance to grow, sort of like Cars & Coffee.
I'll be doing most of the marketing for it and Trails will be executing the events since they have the bandwidth to do that and I have the bandwidth to do the marketing remotely.
Most of the people who are "active" on CR these days either don't race, don't come out in public, or just run their fingers to fling shit at others. That's just how it is and that's fine. The memebers that do actually race I get to see at the track and we have a good time.
Now for the list next year I'll hopefully have my new project ready
-
Roger that. See you guys next year then. :lolguy:
We aren't doing the list races anymore, there wasn't enough interest in people actually coming out to race.
However, I will be working with National Trail management to get their list races off the ground and the rules will be a little easier for the street cars. You'll still have to pass tech for your ET...
-
And who is number 1?
MS3 Cam, 150 shot, drag radials....
-
There's also video of the crash and everything that went down, I don't know if that will ever see the light of day.
I really hope it doesn't to be honest. The raw level of emotions that you see around a bad crash is really difficult to experience.
There are some media people who try to run down to a crash to get pictures or video right away, I walk the other direction because it really can be rough. Seeing friends get cut out of cars or loaded onto a stretcher and into the meat wagon sucks.
-
wow. hindsight is pretty clear but what a dumb way to go fast.
Every hardcore racer I know understands the risks we take. It's your job as a racer to limit risks and getting into an unsafe vehicle for the speed you plan to go is a problem.
I've turned into a huge safety freak after spending so much time at the track. I've seen some really bad stuff happen and people get hurt because they didn't do what was needed to be safe.
You never think it will happen to you, but you need to be ready in case it does.
-
Well, it appears she was up in Oregon doing this because the contraption she was in doesn't pass tech for any land speed sanctioning body. It also didn't have a roll cage and was basically a fighter jet turned into a car.
-
Unconfirmed reports that the plexiglass cockpit window and frame failed causing the crash.
Really at those speeds if anything goes wrong you're not walking away, it's just how the physics of it plays out.
-
Saw a few of them at the NMCA race this weekend, they are nasty for sure.
-
If you want magazine coverage this would be perfect for our Turnology title. Let me know and I can get you in contact with the team that runs the magazine. Then when the car is done I can shoot the photos for them since you're local.
-
Fuck that. Just sell it to CVS or Walgreens so they can build a warehouse for pills, sell off another section to whoever makes narcan. Then at least people can save on shipping.
Narcan walk up window?
I do like the idea of small outdoor theatre some other public space. Maybe urban farming land for people? ANYTHING but retail, good lord we have so many blighted strip malls in this city.
-
I am legit curious, what would you or your neighborhood rather see done with the site?
A drug rehab center for the problems this city/region has. Not like it will hurt the property values in that area...
-
That area is so sketchy, the last thing I'm going to do is go there and shop. I had to go to Sunbelt to rent equipment and was stuck in the driveway because there was a tweaker walking in circles that wouldn't move.
-
This is one of my bucket list races for dirt track racing. I'm hitting The World 100 this year at Eldora for work so outside of Knoxville and The Chilli Bowl I will have been to every major dirt track event.
-
You can hear him pedal it. Smart man. If he would have touched the brakes at all it would have been int he wall.
Yep, he drove that cunt like an outlaw sprint car, it was amazing to see in person.
-
His wife almost had a heart attack on the line when all of that went down from the win to the near crash. He piled up his Mustang a few years ago and she didn't take it so well.
-
Eric Bain must have to purchase a special firesuit to hold his balls. He drove that car all weekend like it was a stolen rental AND they finished installing the engine at the track. He crossed the finish line sideways to pick up the win, totally insane.
-
I spent a week in the Republic Of California for the second week of filming for this season again. This year is going to be even crazier with the teams, drama, and the builds. Good chance we'll see an engine split in half at the race :lolguy:

Capps 339.28 funny car record
in Passing Lane
Posted
Capps is a great guy and that was a straight gangster pass.
What's bananas is he was running at 285 MPH at the 1/8th mile.
Being trackside when these cars make a pass is a 100% assault on the senses, that's the only way I can describe it. When I have to kneel to shoot low angle shots the noise and force of them going by makes me literally wince.
