Got the FJR out for a little ride today. The roads are far from ideal, but it was nice to enjoy the 60 degree weather in February.

Might also be related to ethanol fuel? Similar to the Ducati tanks a few years ago?
Kawasaki had a similar recall due to higher ethanol fuel causing the pumps to swell. My KLR got the fuel pump replaced due to that.
I didn't see anywhere if it said certain manufacturer dates/codes, or all the goldwings?

As someone who carries only one pair of pliers and a valve wrench at work, Knipex has really made me a believer. I carry a 10" adjustable Knipex cobra grip. Never going back to channel locks.

Shucks next time, if you coming to Nc also let me know I might be able to join a day with you guys. I am guessing 2talltim fam might be going with you guys ? You guys always did cruise in the past iirc.
Tim is on an Alaskan cruise, I’m going to the Caribbean.

Was scavenging the threads, seems like not many OG frequent flyers active in here anymore. quick look shows these OGs have new scoots and should be riding on such a beautiful day .
@Casper @max power @2talltim@JustinNck1Sorry, I'll be getting on a cruise ship the 16th so I'll be out of town.

16 doesn't really go near Ripley?
We came from the West at Ripley across 119, then 16 south the whole way.

Lots of excellent roads in the Western part too. Buckhannon is a good base. From there, there are fun routes in all directions...just bypass Beckley on 16 on your way to the BOTD.
We rode 16 from Ripley to BOTD and it was blah until you get below Beckley. Made for a long day but no highway.

Wow, that is fucking terrible. Imagine if that was a group of motorcycles coming the other way.
I've had both cars and motorcycles come into my lane on the dragon. That road is super fun, but I won't ride it on weekends, and preferably 1st thing in the morning.
As much as I like the roads by Deals Gap, I actually prefer riding in WV. The roads are 95% as good, with 99% less shenanigans...not to mention less cops, less traffic, and fewer towns to ride through...and it's sooo much closer. I ride more miles of curvy roads on a WV trip then I do on a Gap Trip.
I really like the eastern sections of WV around Seneca rocks. We did ride through Hawks Nest over by Fayetteville and it was rough as shit though.

No helmet, or did it matter?
Yeah he had a helmet, knocked out cold for a minute or so, our friend said he the guys eyes were severely swollen, bleeding from the nose, compound fracture on his arm was really bad, bone sticking out, sternum was broken, he was making noises rolling around but didn’t seem there. Ambulance got there in about 25 minutes cause they were just down at the hill climb in Robbinsville. They called for a helicopter but a storm rolled in and they wouldn’t fly. Closest trauma centers were 2 and 4 hours away they said.

Ugh... that sucks. I hope the car occupants were alright, outside of their express delivery of PTSD. 😞
The lady was very shaken up, she said she tried to swerve but it was too late. It was literally the last corner before the straight stretch in front of the resort. We were sitting in front of our room and heard the impact. Our buddy is an EMT so we went up with his med kit but the trauma was severe. The guy went head first into the A pillar of a Cadillac Deville. I couldn’t even recognize the bike it hit so hard, but later found out it was a 2023 Hayabusa.

And then we get half way across to Logan's Pass, where the road is narrow and there is this shitty 2 foot tall brick wall between you and 3000 feet straight down.
50 mph crosswinds.
Had that wind for 100 miles to our hotel.
It was a hell of an adventure, loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat.
It’s crazy how busy that road has gotten. When Tim and I went across it there were no reservations or anything. It was busy but nothing terrible, road was in good shape too. We hit a few spots of road like that in I think Yellowstone where they just completely removed the road and left mud.

Parked for the night in Rapid City SD.
Fuck the wind on I90 westbound. Happens every time. My old skinny arms are sore as hell and Jesus did it kill the mpg's. I lost abot 50 miles per tank.
Still a great day. Cool iron sculptures, prairie dogs and awesome views.
Still a long way to go but we are getting there and having a blast.
Tim and I experienced the same thing coming south out of Sturgis. The relentless wind takes a toll on you.

Installed new highway pegs to replace the old worn out ones. Also got my bar risers installed. Install was unique because the bike has an aftermarket triple clamp that uses a different mounting system. A trip to the hardware store and we’re back in business. Bars are fourth back and up and rotated flatter with the triple clamps and riser.
