My son is ready to change up the décor in his bedroom, so we have the following street signs for sale. These have been hanging in on his walls for the past 8 years. These signs are real, used, worn, and retired street signs from Austin, Texas. We picked them up at an Austin city auction almost a decade ago. This weekend I dropped two of our cars off at Tim’s house to have him work his magic. Fortunately, Tim lives right around the corner and was able to work both cars in on one of our busiest weekends of the year. First of all, let me start by saying Tim was very responsive to any communication. Tim responded quickly no matter which method I used to contact him (PM, text, phone). He provided a very clear list of services and options available and is upfront on the pricing. First up was the Fusion (see Tim’s thread here). This car has not seen a coat of wax in over 3.5 years, it frequents the Moo Moo wash on Sawmill Rd, gets a daily coating of concrete dust from the parking garage at work, takes a beating from my kids who are constantly opening their doors into anything and everything in the garage, and my wife takes it every other morning to the gym where she continues to park under the same sap dripping trees time and time again. Needless to say, Tim had his work cut out for him. I opted for his most basic detailing package on this one, as I have come to the realization that this car is what it is. It’s a true family car and will continue down the same path of brutality at the mercy of our family for the next few years. I told Tim straight up, don’t spend too much time on this as it will continue to live the life it has for the past 4 years. I was just looking for a thorough cleaning and some desperately needed protection before winter hit. If he could get a little shine back, I would be a happy customer. When I picked up the car, I was simply blown away. Tim being Tim, he disregarded everything I said and went to WORK on this thing. He obviously had a connection with the car, and clearly went above and beyond what was outlined in his description of services on several areas of the car. Every time I walk up to the car now, I can’t help but rub the back of my hand against the paint before getting in. It is ridiculously smooth. If this was just the basic option, I couldn’t wait to see how my wife’s car was going to turn out. That brings me to the Explorer (see Tim’s thread here). Just like the Fusion, the Explorer has lived a near identical life, minus the concrete dust from a parking garage. It too has not had a coat of wax in over 3.5 years. Where the metallic flake paint on the Fusion could mask the presence of swirl marks from a distance, swirl marks were clearly visible from any angle and distance on the Explorer. For this reason, I opted for a little bit of paint correction on this one. When I dropped it off, not only were there swirls marks everywhere, but scratches from my wife driving through tree branches along the passenger side, and marks on the other side from our son using his door as a track for his hot wheels. Just look at the before picture in Tim’s post, it looks like Edward Scissorhands decided to play the piano on the car. The after pictures Tim posted do not due him any justice. The car looks much deeper (if that makes sense) and more black in person. I would say that 90% of the swirl marks and scratches are completely gone now and the few deeper scratches that remain have been reduced so much that you would have to know where to look and be within a foot of the car to see them. The difference is night and day. We couldn’t be happier and are so pleased with the results. To top it off, Tim found and pointed out a few areas on the car that could use some additional attention that I have never even noticed. For example, a little surface rust has started to appear on the inside of one of the doors at the bottom edge. Not only did he notice it, but he also provided a recommendation on how to address it. I likely wouldn’t have noticed it for several more years. To say he exceeded my expectations is an understatement. I probably brought him two of the most boring cars to detail, and he was genuinely into it. Who likes detailing? Tim does, he REALLY does. I have no doubt that he would treat any car as if it was his own. In addition, you couldn’t meet and deal with a nicer guy. Thanks again Tim! -Brian

OK, I'll bite... Bengals - Burfict tries to apologize within MINUTES of hit to Brown, only to have trainer rip his arm off of him (as seen in video above). Steelers - Shazier continues to celebrate and dance in the MIDDLE of the field with Blake minutes after the hit while Bernard lays motionless AND after he had already celebrated in the end zone after returning the fumble. He then proceeds to the sideline and continues to mock and reenact Bernard going unconscious. He then tries to issue an apology over twitter DAYS later? How cute. BTW, of course the crowd was in a frenzy, as they all got to witness the illegal hit on Bernard over and over on the scoreboard and see Shazier continuing to celebrate and taunt the crowd, while Bernard is still laying on the field. Then to top it off (can't blame him), have Tomlin challenge the ruling on the field and force the crowd to watch the replay over again, and again see Shazier still acting like an ass. No one is going to win the class argument, there are clearly thugs on both teams.

Noted. Thanks again, it's appreciated. If I do decide to go with them in the end I'll be sure to come back and give my honest two cents on their work. Like I said luckily they just painted a house nearby so I can check it out in advance in person. So far Buckeye seems to come highly recommended (each carpenter has confirmed this as well), but they definitely come at a premium.

Couldn’t agree more. That’s where the issue lies, everyone is promising to do the same things, but I know the person I’m talking to isn’t going to be performing the work. I’m afraid what is going to happen is some underpaid crew that doesn’t want to be out in the 90+ degree heat all day is just going cut corners slap a crap load of paint over any “problem areas” instead of taking the time to do it right because A) they don’t want to be there in the first place and don’t have a stake in it and B) think no one will notice because it’s 25 feet off the ground anyway. Whoever does the work I fully intend on inspecting after each step. Our house is going to take ALOT of caulk work to do it right, I would guess 2 – 3 cases worth.

Good to know. Care to elaborate at all, so I can look to see if anything has changed in 15 years? They just painted a house two streets over, once the rain dies down I'll go get a better look and talk to the homeowners. Tom seemed decent, and so far his carpenter seemed the most knowledgeable when looking at the minor repair work that also needs done.

Looking to get the outside of our house painted, all trim, siding, doors, garage doors, gutters, etc. Some trim pieces will need replaced as well. Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with any of the following companies? Buckeye House Painting Color World House Painting Haas Painting Company I've received quotes from each and they are all over the map for the same services, so I'm just looking for personal experiences. If you have used someone else and had a positive experience and would recommend, I'm definitely interested in that as well. Thanks!

Had a garage sale this weekend but threw my back out a few days prior, so didn't get a chance to get everything up from the basement. Anyway, have a few things left that didn't make it out. Let me know if your interested. Kitchen Aid stainless toaster oven (only used once, maybe twice in our old apartment) - SOLD Vacuum cleaner. Only used about three months, was $100+ when new. Wife doesn't like being able to see the crap that gets swept up. In order to keep me from doing it, we have switched to bagged units. - SOLD Chicco collapsible high chair with 2 clear tray covers - SOLD Random toys for 1-2 year olds. The crank is so loud you will want to stab your eyeballs and it takes up too much space, but the kids loved it (for a few minutes anyway). To me it looks like an axle that snapped from hitting a curb. Are you sure something else didn't break first causing you to put it into the curb? (Here's another example http://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l-v8-technical-discussions/680444-broken-axle.html) You bought the car used correct? Wonder if it was curbed pretty hard by the previous owner?

If I had to guess, I would say it most likely needs either one or both of the rear wheel speed (ABS) sensors replaced. Chances are they were damaged when the previous owner had the gears replaced. They are fragile and they don't come out very easy after being in there for a few years. Easy (and cheap) to fix if this is indeed the issue.
