Really cool capture on the droplet magnifying the brick wall. That's definitely one to print and frame
I don't even remember how many of those I took to get a few good ones.

Did you switch to Nikon?
I've only had a Nikon DSLR. I had a Canon S2 pro-sumer point and shoot which was excellent.

Awesome pics! That must be some lens.
It was the 105mm macro. Plus a good tripod and remote. (I may have had the 2x tele converter on some of the older ones making it a 210mm macro)

Didn't see the weather thread this year so thought I'd show some snowflake photos I took this week.
I took these over the last few years ago.

I have a wood burning fireplace in my new house I want to be inspected and cleaned as it appears to not have been used in some time. What does this typically cost and do you have any recommendations on people?
Thanks.
I had Whempy's Chimney come sweep mine when I first moved in about 5 years ago. Asked the guy how it looked and he said good. I think it was around $100.
Beware, they will call you at least 2 times a year to sell you services. Even if you ignore their calls and haven't used their service again.

Took off the timing belt today to put on a new kit and decided to do the valve stem seals to try and fix an oil burn issue. Found 3 valves that are sticking and may be bent and 1 that is definitely bent.
-
When you rotated the crank was it clockwise or counterclockwise? It will affect the slack in the belt. Don't know if it would be enough to cause that much offset or not. If that's not it check water pump and tensioner.
I rotated counter clockwise which was based on what I read.

My 2000 Honda Civic started misfiring.
Has a code for each cylinder plus a P1399
I replaced the dist cap and rotor and have same issue.
Pulled the top timing cover off and rotated the motor counter clockwise from the crank pulley until the top pulley timing marks were lined up. The crank appears to not be lined up.
Can anyone confirm that I'm seeing this correctly?
If so, then it jumped timing. This belt was put on about 40k miles ago and has been good until Monday. Anything I should check to figure out why it jumped timing?

There is a scrapper plate inside. Best to use it at least once a day. I've never had it plug up. The tubes do have some creosote on them that should be cleaned off before installing.

Video of how they work. GLWS
Thanks for the link. It's really good at heating up a room quicker and since you are getting extra heat in the room instead of it going up the chimney, you can actually burn less wood.
And the guy in the video said if you have a good fire going you can't hold your hand in front of the Magic Heat and he is correct. My laser thermostat on the tube usually read around 200+ on the tubes.

My parents put foam insulation on their garage door and the torsion spring broke a few years later. Garage door repair company put in a larger spring. No change to the opener.

I'm looking for 100 4x6 photo folders with a Christmas/winter theme.
Anyone have a place that they can get a deal on some? Amazon has a 100 pack but it's $62 and that seems really expensive. Blank grey ones are $35 and that's expensive considering it's just a folded piece of card stock paper.
Thanks,
Rich

NAPA in Lancaster can make hoses. I had one made for the loader on my tractor.

Interested in your setup and how it goes, what the quote is. We got a quote from a place near us to get a line installed for a gas insert. The heater & water heater are basically right below our fire place. Probably 3-5 feet of line total. They wanted about $1k to run the line. :dumb:
I was quoted over $600 for a run to my furnace. 5 foot up and 5 foot over.

PMI on my mortgage through FHA came out to about 10% of the monthly payment. I ditched that as fast as I could.
Look for first time home buyer grants. Ohio had one a few years ago.

AT&T has come a long way... now it works far better than my Verizon work phone...
It's all about which service works for where you are most of the time. A buddy of mine had Verizon for many years. I was at his house with my Verizon phone and my work ATT phone. Verizon had 1 bar and ATT had 4. They switched service the next day.
-
Why? Theyre all just as shitty. Youre trading in actual good service in for shitty service with a smiley face on it.
Actually, I'm looking into Google's Project FI.
And my ATT work phone is as good as my Verizon connection
