Still haven't figured out why the fan wont kick on by itself, don't know where to start. I have done plugs, wires, air fikter, pcv valve, cleaned maf, new camshaft position sensor and this thing is still surging at idle and sputtering at take off sometimes. Don't know what to check next.

I am slipping, I would have bought so many things in this thread if I wasn't to busy to look. Next on the printer.

Pulling the relay did make it stop but started right back up when plugged in. It's not doing it now so hopefully it dried out. Now the next issue. Someone who shall remain nameless on this board " fixed " another fan issue years ago. The thing wants to overheat. IIrc he replaced a fan but that never fixed the issue. The fan on the passenger side seems to work normally. The drivers side fan works when power is put to it but doesn't seem to work on its own. I am thinking of switching the temp sensor to see if this resolves anything, thoughts?

Hooked the battery back up and the fan was off. About 45 mins later the fan kicked on. Swapped a few different relays in and it stayed on. Disconnected temp sensor and it stayed on.

Would the temp sensor tell the fan to kick on even when the car is shut off and cool?

Come outside and heard the fan on my son's 99 grand am running. Car has been off for hours. Disconnected battery and reconnected, still running. Car has been sitting a very long time and was recently acquired from a relative. Just installed a new battery. I power washed the car this morning and I don't know if water somehow is the culprit. Previous owner has had issues with these fans before but I believe they weren't running when they should have been. What tells the fan to kick on and why would it be running when cool, what's the fix?

Sister in law is looking at a used vehicle and wanted to see who works there.

The battery is located in a small space between the backseat and a wall in the trunk. I rarely drive this thing and will probably sell soon. The most it is driven would be to a local car show a few times a year. The only accessory this thing has are lights although I considered adding a radio. Should I be worried the battery is in such a compact area?

I see one that says it's good for cars and suvs, that has to be good enough for what I am doing right?

What all considerations need to be made when choosing a battery?I should have stated I need a battery that looks like it would go into a small import

I have been doing some work to the 41 and need a new battery. The battery was relocated to the trunk by a previous owner and now that it needs replaced I want to go with the smallest battery I can get for reasons of space. The battery I have been using is way to big. How do I determine what battery will work? I am not running any accessories other than a radio if that. Should I consider a deep cycle since it sits for long periods of time? Will I have issues if I buy the smallest car battery off the shelf?

I keep one in my truck and it has been a lifesaver.
