  1. I agree with this. I have thousands of dollars in my 400. You have to replace the sprag and drum on a stock 400 to handle any power plus a stock sprag will grenade when you come out of the water box. Powerglides are relatively inexpensive to build. Basically all you need is a soft parts kit and an input shaft (to make it a turbo spline). As light as your car is the glide in my opinion is the way to go. Plus, the consistency of a two speed is deadly.
  2. If you are going to the track day let me know and I will bring them with me. I'd like to get $700 because that's what I have in the porting and valve springs. nevermind......
  3. I have a set of ported heads from a '98 ls1 if you're interested.
  4. Can I use my E.T.I. here or will need to pull my hood and such off?
  5. Does any one here know if the GM 3800 S/C connecting rod have a front and back? It appears to me that both sides are the same. I want to make sure before remove the pistons and send them off to Columbus Cold Weld for reconditioning. Thank you in advance for any help.
  6. I like how prior to the incident it looks like Ray is just out for a Sunday cruise. No big deal, I'll just run down here to the end of the track for some milk and eggs.
  7. PM Pontiacfreak and he'll give the skinny on how good a job Best Buy does on RS installs.
  8. Thats a good point Dave that I did'nt try. I always set the angle with the car empty.
  9. A trans cooler line let go. I have it fixed enough for moving the car but the Cutlass is done for the year. I have the entire front clip off. I havent really given the car much attention over the last two years or so. Its in need of some TLC. Curious, did anyone here see my last run? I heard it was a sight to see.
  10. I'd go but...I don't want to be "that guy" again....
  11. I'd have to check it again to make sure but I'm pretty sure is about 9 or 10 degrees down. In the first video at the 36 second mark you can see it hits the tires pretty hard. I would say from that video that my PSI is too low but when I run 11 or higher it spins terrible. I've tried going 1/2 turn shorter on the upper control arms but it didn't like that and turn a terrible 60. I'd love to be able to give it all on the line and come off just under the converter stall but that gives me 60's in1.5x's. I've never really given any thought to changing the front shocks. I have considered a limiter of short to keep the front from throwing itself up so to speak.
  12. Dave-I have not tried a full on slick on the car yet. I wouldn't be apposed to it if only I could fit something similar in size to what I'm running now. The Cutlass has a fairly narrow rear wheel tub. I have to be carefull what the section width is and on the full race slicks the section width is wider than the street slicks. The control arm bushings on the uppers are urathane at the housing and heim joints at the frame and the lowers are solid front and rear without any adjustments. I talked to a friend here and he suggested running tubes in my rear tires to help with deflection. Waggs-Yes sir I do have an anti-roll bar. I put one years ago and the difference it made was amazing. It really did level the car out off the line.
  13. Sorry Dave, I was at work and ran out of time trying to embed the videos. So I have been unable to really get the car to launch to what I feel is it's best potential. The best 60' I've been able to do was a 1.42 and I average (at Trails) about a 1.47-1.52. I would like to see 60's in the mid to high 30's. Here's what I'm working with, the motor is a SBC 409 (.040 over 400), Dart IEP 215 ported with 2.10/1.60 flowing 315 CFM @ .700 with a matched super victor. Comp Cams but I can't remember all the numbers. Lift is .704 (I) and .6XX (E), 14.5:1 comp and a 950 CFM 4150. T/S 5400 stall T400 with brake 4:56 and 29-11.5 Q.T.P. Suspension is 90/10 front shocks with Moroso trick springs and rears are 50/50 with Moroso trick springs and South side lowers and adjustable uppers and a 1.250" anti-roll bar. I run 10.5 psi in the tires because just about anything else and they want to spin. I launch the car @ 3800 off the two step because anything higher kills the tires also. I've tried playing with pinion angle but haven't had any luck with that.Any advice will be taken into absolute consideration. I know I really can't expect too much improvement given that I do run it at Trails but it seems like everything I have tried as of yet has negative results.

  15. Unless the rules have changed in the last year or two you are, per the rules, required to have a cage in roof cars running stock fire wall with E.T. 11.49 or quicker and convertables running 13.49 or quicker. If you're required as per the rules to have a cage than you are required to have qualifying belts. If your car runs slower than the E.T.'s requiring cage/belts and you happen to have them installed in the vehicle then you don't have to have current belt dates. For example, I have a 12pt cage in my car and the tag for my belts are missing. All I have to do is tell them the car runs 13's and the belt date is a nonissue as is the cage requirement. When the tech guy asked me what I was running a few weeks ago he almost wasn't going to let me run when I said I was expecting to run 10.60's All this is just my $.02. Hope to see everyone out there Sunday having a good time.
  16. When I had expired belts I told them once that my car ran low 13's and when I was turning mid 10's all night no one said anything. I'm not saying you should lie to anyone, but how can you really know what you're going to run before you make any runs???
  17. PM Snowflake. Last I heard he was looking for one of these.
  18. His name is Bud and they let him go because he wasn't looking over the cars well enough. I found that out Wednesday when I was out there.
  19. I have a set of wheels from a Contour that I think are that size. One of the tires is no good. If you're still looking I can verify for you.
  20. I have a set of 16" mustang stock five spoke. They came on a notch I picked up last summer. I'd have to check but I believe they all have nice tread on them.
