  1. Hey everyone, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I sent out PMs to the people who replied! Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, Ohio Riders members have always stepped up big time for Pelotonia for the past 7 years, either volunteering their time or participating in the event. Many of you have helped with this in the past, and if you are interested in helping again, we would love to have you back! If you haven't done it before but this sounds like something you could be interested in, let me know and we can give you more details. If you don't already know, the moto escorts ride along the route and help out anyone who needs assistance. The vast majority of stuff is chains coming off, flat tires, etc. Easy stuff. In the rare event there is a medical emergency, call 911. The dates for the event are Saturday August 6, and Sunday August 7. Most of the help will be needed on Saturday, but there is always a need for a few people on Sunday too. The ride has a dual start on Saturday morning. One start is downtown Columbus and the other start is in Pickerington. First riders go out at 7:30AM. The ride finishes Saturday at Kenyon College in Gambier, and Saturday night there is a huge party with food and beer! On Sunday, the ride goes from Kenyon and ends in New Albany. In the past, we have made arrangements for dorm rooms in Kenyon if you want to do both days, and we should be able to do that again this year too. We can have someone take your gear up too (pillow, sleeping bag/sheets, toiletries etc) so you don't have to worry about carrying it with you all day. If you can only help out one day, or only a partial day, that's no problem at all. If you can't ride this year, but still want to participate, there are TONS of other volunteer opportunities. Let me know and we can definitely find something for you to do. Minimum requirements: 1. Have your full, valid endorsement, and have your bike plated, registered and insured. 2. Wear at minimum helmet, long sleeves, long pants, gloves, and closed toed shoes. At least a 3/4 helmet. No novelty german war helmets. This is requested by Pelotonia, as this is a safety oriented position. 3. No super loud bikes at low speeds. No straight pipes etc. Don't scare riders or make them deaf. 4. No jabronis! It's really a pretty chill time, and a great way to be involved in the community, and help out with a great cause. I have a handful of yellow safety vests that you can wear so you can be identified as an escort. If you don't know how to change a bicycle tire, I can teach you. It's super easy. Post up here, PM me or email me at pelotoniamoto@gmail.com if you want to participate, or if you have any questions at all.
  3. Yeah, that stuff was a lot of fun back in the day. I haven't been to QSL bike night in forever. Used to go all the time, meet at Shell, roll over to QSL, roll down to Taco Bell, go home haha. I really liked when we had our own bike night at Lodge Bar too, because it was so close to my house. Even though that place sucked otherwise, and the staff ended up being dickwads.
  4. User #6. Day 2 OG. I can't believe that was 10 years ago. Feels like a whole other lifetime to me.
  5. Hey guys and gals, I emailed out the sign up link. If you didn't get it, please let me know. You can PM me here, or email pelotoniamoto@gmail.com Looks like we will have a good turnout so far, but are always in need of other help. I will bump this thread periodically with more info as it becomes available.
  6. Hi everyone, Ohio Riders members have always stepped up big time for Pelotonia for the last 5 or 6 years, either volunteering their time or participating in the event. I am putting the call out again for people who would be interested in helping out with the moto escort crew. As a Moto Escort, what you do is ride along the route and help out anyone who needs assistance. The vast majority of stuff is chains coming off, flat tires, etc. Easy stuff. In the rare event there is a medical emergency, call 911. The dates for the event are Saturday August 8, and Sunday August 9. Most of the help will be needed on Saturday, but there is always a need for a few people on Sunday too. The ride has a dual start on Saturday morning. If you can only help out one day, or only a partial day, that's no problem at all. If you can't ride this year, there are TONS of other non-riding volunteer opportunities. We can definitely find something for you to do. Minimum requirements: 1. Have your full, valid endorsement, and have your bike plated, registered and insured. 2. Wear at minimum helmet, jacket, gloves. At least a 3/4 helmet. No novelty german war helmets. This is requested by Pelotonia, as this is a safety oriented position. 3. Post up here, PM me or email me at pelotoniamoto@gmail.com if you want to participate, or if you have any questions at all. At this present moment, I don't have the moto escort registration link, but as soon as I get it, I will share it . You can register as a general volunteer on the Pelotonia site in the meantime.
  7. exactly. there is nothing to be gained by talking.
  8. personally, for something that is under 15000, has AWD and has room to haul shit, I would go for something like a w211 wagon. but if your wife is looking at lifted pickups, it's probably not her style.
  9. The salvage check has nothing to do with safety either. From OSHP literature on salvage inspection: The purpose of this inspection is to verify the ownership of all parts and to review all required documentation. The inspection is not intended to certify the vehicle’s safety, or the quality of workmanship. http://statepatrol.ohio.gov/doc/inspection_brochure.pdf

  11. Imo, crimes committed by police officers should be subject to harsher penalties. Just the way crimes against officers are.
  12. if they tolerate stuff like that, then they aren't "good" LEOs. they are just as bad.
  13. Hey guys, thanks again for helping out. It is truly appreciated, not just by me, but by Pelotonia and all the cyclists too. It was really nice to meet the new people, and you are all welcome back for next year.
  14. awesome car man. those things are a ton of fun. i love those wheels you have on there too. sucks about the clutch though, those can be a real PITA... iirc porsche booked 24 hours to replace one if it has the two piece crossover pipe . i think the earlier ones were like 16 hrs lol.
  15. Would like to to this coming Thursday, the 31st at 6pm at our usual spot. Can you make it? I know it's kind of a haul for you. I'd have liked to have done it closer to the actual date of the event, but I just found out Friday that I have to go to Tampa for work from the 4th to the 8th. Will be back the Friday just in time for the ride on Saturday. For those not familiar, our usual spot is Champps at lennox in Columbus. 1827 Olentangy River Rd, Columbus OH 43212. I'm not totally sure how loud those are but if its bone stock, it should probably be fine. As long as he isnt banging it off the rev limiter BTW were you ever able to register on the site as a volunteer? Can you PM me your email address so that I have it? If you can make the meeting this Thursday, bring him along if you can.
  16. yup, you're on there.
  17. oops double post... smccrory, you may need to modify your status from virtual rider to volunteer... not totally sure how that works... you may need to create a separate account to register as a volutneer? if youre having trouble, email me: pelotoniamoto@gmail.com
  18. sign into pelotonia.org. once you're logged in paste this link into your browser. https://www.mypelotonia.org/riders_profile_volunteer_special.jsp?Access=4 it should bring up the escort page. there should be two check boxes, one for saturday and one for sunday. check one or both, depending on what day you are able to help once you check the boxes, click save at the bottom.
  19. ive got you guys on there for sure.
  20. So when I check my list on the Pelotonia site, there are only like three people registered for each day. Can you guys let me know if you tried to register as a volunteer on the site, and if you had any trouble? If so, I can try to get the link sent out again.
