here are my 2 cents.

1. gear is king.. your leaving in march, and doing a day trip.. if you know the bike has the reserve, heated gear can save on bulky suits.  This is important because your favorite gear may be great for all day adventures on your bike and configuration.. but slapping on 3 layers and a snow suit may actually very constricting and uncomfortable in the saddle. Base layer, heated gear, and a windproof layer keeps it light yet still effective.

2. make sure to have a Plan B route with waypoints that have more main arterial roads or slab to your destination or for an bailout point.. You can wish to ride the epic ride, but there comes a point where if the conditions, weather, fatigue, etc. cause too much delay or create too high of risk and you just need to get to point B. You just never know when a bridge is washed out, a county road is closed detouring you an hour out of your way.... And its cold.... And it's raining.. and damn, are those snowflakes in the distance?

always have a plan B.. Be it an alternate route, an bailout point, or a predetermined lodging point.  In the last 7 riding seasons, I've exercised Plan B more than I care to admit.  But it has always been better than rolling in to my destination, miserable, stressed, and over fatigued way after hours.

oh yeah.. that wouldn't have worked at all.. we were already a fistful of singles into the night.

I would have made it, bit of a communication breakdown, ultimately it came down to not really wanting to ride all that way there in the cold, to ride the loop, then ride all the way home to then go to my bachelor party that night.. I"d have been too wiped out to really enjoy myself.

I'll definately have to sneak a road trip in before november though.. I got the map of this route so might have to finish off my tires before the snow flies. Glad there was a good turnout despite the unfavorable weather. well done doc

Unfortunately, I'm out.. Way too much "life" happening coupled with the shakey weather. It would be very difficult for me to block off the necessary time to go forward with this ride with and meet obligations especially with minimal commitment.

it gets too dark to early this time of year.....

I was camping a couple weekends ago and my friend had these LED tactical flashlights.. like 120 lumens or something.. I was amazed and how much light they put out.. Told me they were $20.. This has me thinking with a little macgyver mod action these would make killer fog lights to compliment my HID. Not to mention the flashlight has a strobe flash feature.. Oh the pure evil that would provide. mount a pair on my helmet at night.. haha

If I want to ride in the dark I'll ride with doc.. Between those blinding high beams of his and that megaphone exhaust i feel safer with him in front of me..

Hey Alz.. You should plan to come to the covered bridge ride.. given the roads it tends to be a little more social and scenic.

I wonder if Stevie would let me borrow his Victory for this leisurely ride? Hmmm....

If you take that i'd like to take yours.. Although I"m not sure I could touch ground either.

there is no way we could do it the 7th.. that is when the Covered Bridge festival is.. That would be way too much unsafe FAIL to even be considered..

HAHA I remember that..Denny Beer Barrel!! He slammed that challenge burger down before I finished my tiny little 1 pounder.. Emily and I slabbed there in the torrential rain then rode back home in it too.. Witnessing that was a site to behold that's for sure..

Maybe Pauly can help set the suspension for you.. If it's set to the stock settings it's too soft.. I think Yamaha set OEM suspension for a horse jockey.

The YZF runs a 160' date=' right? If so, I have a set of tires I pulled off the Monster. ContiRoadAttacks. Decent tread in the center and definitely usable tread on the edges. Not really flat-spotted at all.

160/60/17 rear, 120/60/17 front.. 120/70 usually fits but is tight.. side effect with the 70 is it happens to correct the ambitious speedo .. Josh take it!

Hey I got a rear tire you can use to get thru the rest of this season if you don't mind it being a bit squared down the middle. Just sayin.
