  1. I don't like those temps..haha. That's just the temp I will suit up for 1st ride of the year because I've been itching to ride all winter long. I normally get to ride March thru November here in Dayton, Oh. Put over 5k on my bike last year in that frame.

Also, little advice on riding up here after the winter. Becareful on the cold days, the tires don't have a lot of traction. Also becareful in any turns until we've had a few hard rains after the winter to wash the SALT and SAND away in the turns. Other than that, enjoy riding up here.

layed the bike down in sand and pebbles my second time out on the bike

so i usually am really cautious about whats in the road now.

Im still very new at riding.

My borfriend and i have been wondering what they use on the roads in the winter. When i lived in Flagstaff they used cinders, but he was prtty sure it would be salt.

Thanks for the tips, they will come in handy.

  2. Get a set of bike stands. I've been using the same stands since 2004 and they're still going strong. http://www.handyindustries.com/shop/product_view.asp?idProduct=167&D=1&S=4 $99 for front and back!

I take the psi to about 10 pounds and keep it up on the stands until I feel them back up when it hits 45-50degrees to ride.;)

    45-50 degrees ?

im used to 70 :( most of the time its 85-110

good thing i have a heated vest, and just got my heated grips :D

thanks to everyone for all of the advice.

  3. what about flat spots on the tires ? someone told me that you should raise it, or roll it to different spots on the tires once every 2 weeks to avoid flat spots ?

i live in Tucson right now, so my bike only sits for about 2 months, and i just put it on a battery tender plus.

However i was wondering about this flat spot thing ?

That and i guess i need to know what to do when i get to the winter wonderland (besides freeze my ass off :o )

  4. I have a friend, who is a guy, treated similar when he went to look for a bike.

But honestly, it happens all over, and its not gender specific.

Ive had bad experiences with guys treating me like im a 'dumb girl' and i knew damn well what they were telling me was a load of shit because id already done my research ... and others where they were really nice and helped.

One of the places here, Ride Now .... bad reputation for upselling, BADLY. and jerking people arround.

But anytime i went in there when i first got my bike, they were alway willing to help and were super nice about it.

I agree that sometimes women are treated differently, nothing you can do about that. I work at IBM ... it is a good ole boys club.

Believe me when i say its all in how you handle the situation.

What ive learned, dont play the game. Go in smart and know what the facts are.

Knowledge is power ... for me it quickly put those types in thier place,

and they typically know they cant harass you any further.

In most cases you get respect from that person from that point on.

At least in my experience thats how things have always turned out.

I think this is the same in any 'dealership' situation ... for guys or girls.

If you know what you want, and you've done your research .... they typically cant sell you ocean front property in AZ :)

They either give you what you want, for what you know you can get it for .... or you just go someplace else.

There are A-holes no matter where you go.

Im sorry for your shitty experience though :(

earlier someone said, dont give them your business, and tell your friends, word of mouth goes a long way ...... + 1

and good luck finding your gixxie !

  5. I have got old boots. Think of old combat style. I have some AlpineStar gloves. I have typed this real slow so all can read! ;>)

i got alpinestar smx plus boots, from newenough.com

Nates right about costing a bit more .... but i kinda felt like protection for my skin and bones was worth every penny.

i love them. they are euro sizes, but new enough has a chart.

    and its true to size.

I have a friend who has sidi's and he loves his too.

  6. If you use Safari theres one that they dont have a fix for.

    Comes in thru RSS

but if you turn off the RSS feed it stops it from gaining access

    to files on your system.

  7. r6central? thats the other one i frequent besides this one.

whats odd is my girlfriend that is coming into town, her name is colleen. and when i looked at the last person that posted i thought she was looking at my ideas for this weekend...

    i think its r6messagenet
