  1. You can't go wrong with the XBi2 model. I had the unfortunate opportunity to be riding behind my girlfriend when she took her bike down. She was ok, and I knew that before I got to her because we had voice communication. The units are great. The bike to bike distance is wonderful. The bluetooth phone link is clear as could be. Being able to look out for the other rider, and they for you, and talking vs. hand signals, creates a much safer ride.

  2. You just proved that your being the dipshit by admitting that you do what you want since you live in the country. You also admitted that you have installed the VFG as well as posting pics of it installed. FYI. doing something illegal and then doing something not illegal does not cross out the fact that you installed a VFG illegally on a pistol.

Thats like someone saying they modified a firearm to shoot full auto and then fixed it so it doesnt do it anymore. ITS STILL ILLEGAL YOU DUMBASS...

If you like, I can save the pic you posted, track down all your information and then send it to the ATF myself since your being a monster cock about someone posting a law in an attempt to save your ass.

Feel free to do what you please.. May I suggest playing in traffic....

Bravo for your internet law degree, Barney. Please refer back, it wasn't the fact that you posted the regulations, but how. Feel free to save the picture, because you have just that, a picture on the internet. And FYI, I did play in traffic today. It was a BEAUTIFUL day to ride. And I may do the exact same thing tomorrow, all day long.

  3. Go ahead and send that pic with your name and address to the ATF and find out what happens.. You play with fire and youre gonna get burnt...

Dont be a dipshit on this one. Its not worth going to jail just to have something that "looks cool"

Oh yeah and here is some reading material should you care to try and learn something

    Firearms and Explosives

Adding a Vertical Fore Grip to a Handgun

“Handgun” is defined under Federal law to mean, in part, a firearm which has a short stock and is designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand…. Gun Control Act of 1968, 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(29).

Under an implementing regulation of the National Firearms Act (NFA), 27 C.F.R. § 479.11, “pistol” is defined as a weapon originally designed, made, and intended to fire a projectile (bullet) from one or more barrels when held in one hand, and having (a) a chamber(s) as an integral part(s) of, or permanently aligned with, the bore(s); and (b) a short stock designed to be gripped by one hand and at an angle to and extending below the line of the bore(s).

The NFA further defines the term “any other weapon” (AOW) as any weapon or device capable of being concealed on the person from which a shot can be discharged through the energy of an explosive, a pistol or revolver having a barrel with a smooth bore designed or redesigned to fire a fixed shotgun shell, weapons with combination shotgun and rifle barrels 12 inches or more, less than 18 inches in length, from which only a single discharge can be made from either barrel without manual reloading, and shall include any such weapon which may be readily restored to fire. Such term shall not include a pistol or revolver having a rifled bore, or rifled bores, or weapons designed, made, or intended to be fired from the shoulder and not capable of firing fixed ammunition. 26 U.S.C. § 5845(e).

ATF has long held that by installing a vertical fore grip on a handgun, the handgun is no longer designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand. Therefore, if individuals install a vertical fore grip on a handgun, they are “making” a firearm requiring registration with ATF’s NFA Branch. Making an unregistered “AOW” is punishable by a fine and 10 years’ imprisonment. Additionally, possession of an unregistered “AOW” is also punishable by fine and 10 years’ imprisonment.

To lawfully add a vertical fore grip to a handgun, a person must make an appropriate application on ATF Form 1, “Application to Make and Register a Firearm.” The applicant must submit the completed form, along with a fingerprint card bearing the applicant’s fingerprints; a photograph; and $200.00. The application will be reviewed by the NFA Branch. If the applicant is not prohibited from possessing a firearm under Federal, State, or local law, and possession of an “AOW” is not prohibited in the applicant’s State of residence, the form will be approved. Only then may the person add a vertical fore grip to the designated handgun.

A person may also send the handgun to a person licensed to manufacture NFA weapons. The manufacturer will install the fore grip on the firearm and register the firearm on an ATF Form 2. The manufacturer can then transfer the firearm back to the individual on an ATF Form 4, which results in a $5.00 transfer tax. If the manufacturer is out of State, the NFA Branch will need a clarification letter submitted with the ATF Form 4 so that the NFA Branch Examiner will know the circumstances of the transfer. Questions can be directed to the NFA Branch or the Firearms Technology Branch.

Not sure where your assumptions about me knowing or not knowing the law comes from. I guess I should give you some reading material so you can learn something for yourself.

I am well aware of all regulations on two handles on a classified pistol. I live in the country and play as I please in the back 40. When the firearm is stored or taken to the range, it is removed. The boys in blue are welcome to stop by and I can show them. So though I appreciate your concern for me going to jail, don't worry yourself.

So please don't be a dipshit yourself, and assume you know me or my knowledge of firearms, which is extensive.

  4. I have a couple of Bushmasters. Love them both. I know several who have purchased the DPMS and it is a nice firearm as well, and not a bad price.

That being said......I love my Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 97S the most. Throw on a front grip, Surefire light/laser, and an Eotech holographic site......you just shouldn't be able to have that much fun. Pure sex!

  5. I got my unit today and got it installed in minutes. I have to say I was quite impressed with the craftsmanship and overall size.

Brooks made a unit for my Yamaha WR250X with factory Yamaha connectors, so install was a simple plug-n-play. He was also good enough to pre-set it specifically for my bike, based on the speed data I provided him. This meant all I had to do was remove the seat, a cover, and plug it in. Color directions were great and most helpful in locating connections.

Now the big question, will it work? Took it for a test and was most impressed! This unit corrected my speedo flawlessly. It is now spot on! No more guessing or quick math to figure speed.

If anyone out there has a need for a speedo healer, don't waste your money at the store, pick one up from Brooks! Thanks again Brooks!

  6. We (TheBulbouseOne and I) have recently purchased two ChatterBox XBi2 units. Just wanted to post up some comments, as I have seen some asking about bike communication recently.

The unit employs bluetooth 2 technology. This has made range substantially greater. Apparently the original units were good for rider/passenger or very close bike to bike communication. I have no experience with the original unit, but this is what I have read. The version 2, however, is capable of far greater distances. The company claims 600 meters. The experienced reality with clear communications was actually about half of that, but this is still a significant distance.

The unit also allows you to connect to two bluetooth devices (cell phone/iPod) transition between devices is quite easy, and automatic in most cases.

The units purchased were for full face helmets. Install was fairly simple.

All that being said, I can say that we are quite pleased with our purchases. Having the ability to speak clearly with your riding partner (paring with up to two other units), even at high speeds and with distance between, provides a greater level of safety. No more quick head turns to find someone you can't find in your mirror. Size is quite small. Sound quality is great and units are quite easy to use. The units run $230 msrp each, but you can hunt down a deal.

There are many different opinions out there on phones/music. If these features don't interest you, don't use them. I have the phone paired and have taken a quick call on long rides. When I don't want bothered, I turn it off. Music is nice at a low volume. Helps play down the loud pipe.

All in all, I can say we love the units and would suggest them to anyone with similar needs, a pair or trio that always rides together and wants something more than hand signals and head turns.

Even though they aren't cheep, the fact that I was able to quickly warn him of the rubber mallet I was dodging in front of him at 55mph, I think they have or will pay for themselves quickly!

We give our 2 cents, and 2 thumbs up.

  8. Let me put it into perspective.....

If you had a bike that always broke down, got flats, etc., etc.......would you keep it or trade it in. I think your "bike" may be high maintenance and about due to be replaced with a newer model if it doesn't shut up.....I mean run right.

  9. It is a different ride than a sport bike, and I love it. May get another sport bike someday, but I'll keep the tard.

    1. I've been in the seat for 1.5 hours at a time. Bout all the more I want to sit at a time no matter what I am riding. Can easily spend the day out. In fact, I plan on being on it all day tomorrow!

    2. Do I still love it? Hell yea! :D

    3. I commute on it to work. Live in Pataskala, just outside of New Albany. Work in Delaware. Great on back roads and highways all the same.

You won't regret owning one. More fun than should be legal.
