I recently took my 2005 RC51 in for dyno-tuning. The tech pulled the bike onto the dyno, and as he was getting ready to do a base run, the bike bogged down and stalled, and would not re-start.
I brought the bike home and did all the standard trouble shooting. I verified the cylinders were getting fuel and that the air intake was not blocked in any way. I then started checking the electrical and fuses. Starting with the spark plugs and working my way back, I was able to identify the problem was the converter unit (I believe some people also call it CDI).
This part brand new at a local dealer goes for $675.00. I found a used one on eBay for $125.00. Installed it and the bike fired right up.
Just wanted to post this in case someone else has the same issue and may possibly need the same solution.
