  1. I just saw one in the parking lot last night on the way out and was like I think I'll pick one up sooner than later. Unfortunately after closing on our new place today, that sooner is now slightly later than buying a new bike today too. Although me showing up on that would be pretty funny and I'd love to see my wifes face, until she punched me square in the face and went inside locking me out.

Ha ^this. Seems every time I get on shit squared away to save and buy a buy something always happens..maybe after i replace the motor in my truck

  2. For what it's worth most home inspectors dont know shit about hvac, for anyone who buys a house do not buy unless the unit has been inspected by a licensed hvac company. I've never known a inspector to put a set of gauges on a unit

  3. Yeah, right now we're really looking at minimal stuff (as you can probably tell by the brands quoted), I dont need a ton of features. We can't up the furnace beyond 80% since the utilities room doesn't have a floor drain apparently. At least, so I've been told.

Theres a drain somewhere or your AC wouldnt be able to drain. If no floor drain you could always use a condensate pump. Can do a 92% AFUE furnace and a 13 seer ac for a really reasonable price. And it would be carrier equipment. Even if you just wanted a AC I can do that as well. Let me give you a price on a good brand equipment before you make a final descision

  4. What is the lowest seer rating you are seeing communicating variable speed come in? When we looked, we didn't see much below 19.

For communicating variable speed AC 19 is about the lowest for 2 stage communicating I think we have a 14 SEER

  5. Why is called a heat pump when it also makes cold air?

Cold is a relative term. Your body is 98.6 hat pumps will "generally" blow out 105-110 air depending on outside airdo that temp feels cooler because your body temp

  6. So you're recommending a heat pump for someone in NEO where we just had 3 months of sub 30 degree weather?

The key word in what I wrote was efficient, technically you can still get heat out of the air down to -40. I'm also going off bare minimum 13 seer heat pumps. Carrier has a heat pump that will efficiently heat down to 10 degrees. So yes if you have a fuel oil or propane furnace I highly recommend a heat pump system

90% of people around here use natural gas. And oil is just plain damn expensive. And could you imagine the cost after this winter?

  7. The equipment will last forever, none of it has a expiration date. The main reason people get new units are 1. Better efficiency 2. Cost of repair vs replace. Would you rather spend $800 on a few parts or $2000 for a whole new one with a great warranty?

  8. Look at it this a 80% furnace inputs 80% of total BTU into the house, so if you have a 100000 BTU furnace only 80,000 is being input in the house and 20,000 is going outside unused. A 92% is the same way except your using 92,000 of the 100000.

  9. I have a 25/15 rule. If repairs are 25% of a new unit and unit is 15+ years or older I recommend a new unit. Older units will nickel and dime you to death once parts start breaking. Im not a salesman im a service tech.

As far as oil burner go I recommend doing a duel fuel system. Heat pump with oil burner back up. Heat pumps are only efficient down to about 30 degrees, with a duel fuel kit you can set up the system to run how ever you want normally heat pump only until 35 degrees and oil (or any secondary heat electric, gas, oil....) at 30 degree. With a heat pump system added to your oil you would save a minimum 30% on your oil bill a year.

  10. That limit is a relay/switch. All have the same basic function. Just buy one from one of the sites I sent ya andstart ssaving for a new furnace. I could probably upgrade ya for under 2k

  11. It could be anything from a rely to the motor its self. If you like text or call me 6143818413. You can wire the motor directly to 120 volts and that will at least get you heat if it is the relay
