Its not just that. Everything is a compromise when it comes down to carrying a firearm. You need to look at your daily routine at every aspect all the way down to what you wear and what you drive when trying to decide on a carry combo. Are you a woman that wears business pants suits? Or are you more of a dress/skirt wearer. Do you carry a full size purse or a small clutch? All those questions lead to a different rout in gun and type of carry.
Business pants and a clutch....if its meeting day, add heels....If its warm, add the bike....

I looked at a glock since I've heard good things about them but it didn't really seem that comfortable in my hands.

Looks like I have some research to do!

Do any of the dealers like fin feather and fur actually let you try em before you buy em?

Thanks for the help, my search continues!

I carry the Smith 340pd Airweight. It's a nice gun and you forget it's there very quickly due to the very light weight. I chose to go for the Scandium framed .357 version for the extra flexibility of being able to shoot 38, 38+p or the .357mag. As a side note I would not recommend the .357 magnum cartridge in this gun to anybody without shooting it first. With 38 special the recoil is the same as a full framed .40 or .45, when loaded with .357mag that little handgun will almost break your wrist. I rented one up at NASR before buying it to make sure I knew what I was getting into for the extra cost.
The Crimson trace laser grips with the rear overmold make a big improvement in felt recoil over the factory mini grips. The last picture was more for fun but it is awesome with such a short barrel that you can see the bullet when looking down the barrel.
(And quit your bitchin, I reload so the one in the chamber for the photo is a dummy:rolleyes:)
I'm pretty sure that was the same model I was looking at. It was indeed very comfortable and light. The crimson trace grips did make a big improvement in the handling.

Ha! Good thinking, thanks!

Ankle carry is useless. A perp can unload an entire mag into you or beat the hell out of you in the time it would take you to get your weapon. Second if weight is your concern why are you considering a 45
I've just always favored the 45. The Kimber ultra carry is 7 shooter, so I wouldn't imagine it would be much heavier loaded.

I currently own a cz 9mm but think its too heavy for my taste to carry. I was comparing the Kimber ultra carry 45 with the s&w revolver 380 featherweight. I liked both because of the light weight but was kinda sceptical on the hammerless s&w revolver. I would get an ankle holster or case to carry in my purse/coat pocket. Does anyone have any opinions or advice on either or know of anything else that would be good and light to carry?

Welcome!! Always nice to grow the female riders group!

My brother has a Springfield 45 1911. It's a very nice gun but too big to carry, well for me anyway. I was just looking for other options to look for besides the Kimber.
-
Thanks guys! I was looking for a carry size 9mm or 45, either one really. Anything is probably better then what I have now though.

I've been looking at getting another handgun that is actually carry size. Found a Kimber carry issue .45. I've heard that a Kimber is one of the best guns out there....anyone actually know or have other suggestions??

Did they get the car?
Folks, these days cheap ebay HD dashcams cost under $100. Add $45 for a 32GB SD card and a little wiring, all you need. If you're ina wreck you can prove who's fault it is. Someone brake checks with no brake ligths and you have their license #. If some kentucky hillbilly in a red pickup wants to run your buddy off the road then you have the eivdence to send them to jail.
I'm sonstantly amazed by how many bike accidents wind up involving a car that flees the scene. Getting harder and harder to keep up my belligerant resistance against the concept of mandatory GPS tracking for all vehicles.
They didn't charge her with anything because they said he was following too close since He was trying to pass before the curve. I say shitty since he basically doesn't have much use of.his hand anymore.

That just gave me chills!! I never think twice about not wearing gear!
My buddy just had multiple surgeries on his left side, broken and leg, and wrist attached by 10% of skin. Multiple skin grafts as well. A car with no brake or taillights did a nice brake check on him around a curve....front tire, forks, triple tree, and fairings all gone. At least he had a helmet and jacket on.
