  2. Well buells are great bikes but don't limit yourself. There are plenty of bikes that deliver that low end grunt you thirst for, some at a much lower initial price and maintenance cost than a buell. Keep in mind that the hd mills are 1940 technology at 2011 prices, there are fare better ways to make power than a long-throw, narrow bore pushrod operated 2 valve head motor. Yes the heads flow better and the internals are tougher than a sportster, but its still an out-dated design. If you want to get away from the cookie cutter inline 4 rice rocket there are several directions you can take. Honda made a shit ton of VFR bikes, they are a pain to work on but make plenty of power. The b king and other naked street fighters are tuned to deliver more power in the low and mid ranges, then there are the liter class v-twins like the superhawk, blackbird, rc51, sv1000 etc that do a great job of pegging the ole butt dyno. The v-rod is also a blast to ride, does 85 in first gear! The triumph triples offer a great 'best of both worlds' between twins and fours, plenty of low end and plenty of balls past 7k. The 90's BMW 100 'k' bikes also kick ass and look nothing like a jap 4-banger. The cylinder bank is latest down right to left across the frame, they blow a bit of smoke on start up but that German engineering shows its teeth when you grip it and rip it. I guess you should consider exploring the world of motorcycles and riding all different styles of sport and muscle bike before you pidgeon hole yourself into a buell. My $.02, hope it helps.

oh im not dead set on the buells....i just like them for the looks and that they came from HD....ive looked at the triumph, b-king, Sv's and other v-twin liter bikes....thats y i put this thread of so i can get ppl's thoughts and comments to help me in the right direction when its time to buy another bike....

  3. GLWS, but I'll be the asshole to say your $1000+ higher than KBB and NADA. For reference I had a 2006 Katana 750, completely stock, that I traded for $3500 6 years ago. The add-ons you've done or the bike had may get you a few extra $ but not a grand.

im aware of wut the nada and kbb are for the bike

    http://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycles/1996/Suzuki/GSX750FT-KATANA/Values

and thats y i shot a lil high on the "asking" price so i have room to negotiate. if i were to post it for say $2300 which is wuts its worth stock, thats leaves it open to get lowballed like a motha f*****.....you always have to list stuff for a higher price so u can make a few $'s or atleast break even... but thanks for your "2 sense".

  4. i have a 96 katana750, Vortex sprockets (+1,-1) DID chain, 8000k HID (55watt, not the dim 35watt), cobra slip-on dual exhaust, battery last year, new brakes this spring, one more season left on the tires or more depending how u ride, multi color led lights thru out the fairings. ive had this bike for 4 yrs now and its been great..i ride it almost everyday as long as its above 50degrees. changed the oild twice a year and run Lucas fuel stabilizer all the time to keep the carbs clean. unforntunetly one of our cars is down and we dont have the cash to fix it right now so im lookin to sell/trade my bike for a decent truck/car..$3,000 o.b.o. price is negotiable...if ur interested ill send a pic cuz for sum reason it wont let me upload them.....thanks

  5. i have an 02 cavalier, yellow in color for sale/trade. ive had this car for about 6 yrs now. its been a great reliable car. it has 174K miles on it that are mostly highway due to driving to Hocking and back for school for 3 yrs and my commute to wrk now. motor and tranny work like new. ive always changed the oil every 4,000 with castrol highmileage and lucas additive. the only major repair i've done to this car was a fuel pump last summer. other than that just tires and brakes. i just put new brakes all around earlier this year(pads, rotors, drums, shoes, ect.). it was ur typical rust for a cavalier and for being a northeast ohio car. the only thing it needs is rear struts. i drive it daily still and wouldnt hesitate to drive across the state and back tomorrow with it. im just ready to part with it and get another vehicle. i can send pics if u want. im askin $2700 obo or trade for somthing else just let me know what u got. thanks for lookin.

  6. Buell X1's are good for torque and flickability too. Think they run out of pull around 135mph? so they're not overkill speeders like most bigger bore bikes - but I think the belt drive is a bit restrictive if you want more or less power, can't simply swap out sprockets and adjust the chain to suit you. However, their handling / shorter wheelbase, and radial front brake systems are schaweeeet!!

i love the look of these but i was lookin more towards the firebolt for the bigger physical size and bigger seat for the occasional 2 up rides. if the bike ran outta pull around 130 or so id be happy with that. as for the belt, i have seen several bikes online witht a sprocket conversion kit to run a chain instead of a belt....

  7. Im not sure if this is the right forum for this ? but here it goes anyways. Im lookin to possibly buy a new bike next year and im not sure but im lookin at a Buell. I want to stay with a sportbike but i want something different from the average joe with a 4 cylender rocket. Im not into the crazy 170+ top end speed like i used to be. im lookin for somthin with more torque and handling which lead me to the buell's.. they look kool as hell in my opinion and not everyone has them....i would like to no how the insurance rates are? hows the upkeep and routine maintanence, is it a dealer only upkeep? im curious to see what your opinions are.

  8. There are a bunch of roads around Pittsburgh that look great, but they are typically 35mph and / or full of traffic. I hate Pittsburgh. You're better off crossing into SE Ohio... good roads over there.

yea, if i wasnt so far away and had more time, id love to ride back down around the nelsonville/hocking hills area...i remember driving around lookin for fishing holes and hunting spots when i was in college....lots of twisty hilly roads there...idk if its worth the 4 hrs trip tho

  9. hey Tim there's a guy i work with (from conneaut) that is lookin for a lil quad for his kids. i sent him a link to ur thread and told him they r priced nice. any ?'s of comments for him and i can relay them to him....imm lookin for one too for my lil ones, ill see if i can get sum money soon but i cant b certain....
