  1. :wtf:

In that case you'd love route 8 through akron. Preferably during morning rush hour.

I haven't lived in Ohio that long, so i haven't found many good roads yet, But 250 is pretty good, especially south of Cadiz. Once you get into WV though, it gets amazing.

Me thinks your sarcasm meter is borked.

    (I hope...)

  2. I wear one of those "adventure" jackets. The problem is remembering which pocket each item is in :D

Lets see 2 lower, 2 upper pockets on the outside front. A key pocket in the sleeve. 3 vest pockets on the inside and a rear pocket, that I never use. Might be 1 or 2 other small pockets I forgot.

Sounds like you need a new jacket :D

    This^

An awesome part of my Aerostitch suit is that I constantly forget where I put things because there are so many pockets (yes i put that in the win column.) I can easily carry my phone, wallet, house keys and some snacks and not notice a bit of it while riding.

  3. After Doc's ride, I realized i was missing out on some really good roads by not venturing out a little. I put together a route that i am hoping to take before the end of the year.

    My goals for the ride:

Around 5 hours (leave 8am back by 1pm for the Brownies if I go on a sunday)

Good twisties for a learning rider like me

Not a ton more than an hour of slab to get there (anymore on the GS is no fun)

This is what I put together. Thoughts?

I realize I am breaking some of my "rules" with this route. They're more guidelines than rules ;).

  4. ah nice songs, especially freebird is one of my favorites but, those songs have lyrics and feel which doesnt match the video, imagine a big group of sports bike riders getting together and the air is filled with excitement (not virulent energy as in break all crap) What kind of song will suit such a thing :p

What a gay description ......

Doc, I can't send a link from my phone, but check out Pretty Lights- Finally Moving Remix.

It's got samples with lyrics and may be a bit slower than you'd like, but might fit well based on your description.

    {soon to be added YouTube clip}

  5. I chased a guy up/down the dragon that was on a GS500F. I was riding my ass off just to pace him. He was smooth as silk on that bike. One ride down and back and I was completely shagged. I had to lie down on a park bench for about 10 minutes. Keep in mind' date=' my bike has ~$4,000 worth of suspension on it and he just made me look like a fool. LoL... It was a lot of fun.

Don't let the lower power trick you. The longer you ride it through the more technical roads, the better a rider you will become.

    Smooth is key...

    [/quote']

That's what I'm after! Sneaky fast haha

  6. clinic ride , me want me want...

i used to brake a lot until uncle punk saw it and beat me up for doing that, since that i never used it. (except a sharp left turn at the end of a steep slope, which i always trouble approaching for some reason)

Yesterday i saw Acsb use brake all the time and i passed on this info to him as well.

Still need to learn a lot and this kind of clinic ride if any of you pros set up would be nice.

Armith you are one of the smoothest rider out there, you dont have demons, i was hoping you would be there as substitute leader if needed, oh well.

I'm glad you passed along the tip doc! I always try to do all my braking before the turn, but was running in too high a gear to really take advantage of any engine braking like I could have. Things smoothed considerably once I dropped it down a gear.

Ninja edit: I would be SO down for an OR day at Nelson. I'll start eating ramen tonight if I need to haha

  7. No offense taken at all Josh. The GS is a great learning tool for me. It really forces me to concentrate on being as smooth as possible to maintain corner speed (cause I know damn well I'm not catching anyone on the straights haha). I'm no where near being as smooth as I want to, but can honestly say I rode home a better rider than I was at the beginning of the ride.

  8. OOOhhhhh. I didn't realize you weren't sure of the route :)

At one point I realized I had my brights on when I was behind you, and I flipped it off... Anything else must've just been the appearance of me flashing you.... I mean, as if! You're the flasher, here....

We both know it's true, and we both know I loved it ;)

It was too good to let go, I HAD to give you the

After you broke off I stopped for 5-10 minutes at a gas station, as well as backed it off a notch... No sense getting a speeding ticket on home turf, when the ride is >< close to being a success and safely home. The 5-10 minute break was a lifesaver :)

Oh, and most of the time when I led, I was just following that Silver crossover SUV, staying 1/4 mile behind it... That way he'd suck out any cops... Sorry if that wasn't fast enough... Balancing wanting to get home and OFF THE BIKE is always a tossup between not wanting to get a ticket :)

BTW, Ali, when you pulled off, AC2B was still Okay, right? I didn't get rained on heading up here, but the highway was a bit wet.... I felt kinda bad pulling away, but he mentioned his GS500 was lacking a bit on the top end, and there's no way he would've been able to stay with us.... Just like there's no way I would've been able to make this ride on my ol Blast... Same problem... Just didn't have it on the top end, and not so great for long highway cruises. AC2B, if you got home safely and read this, post up!

Got home safe. Ali and I broke off then ended up hooking up with 212W>77N. Got home round 8 and was absolutely wiped out!

Thanks for putting this together doc. I had a great time meeting everyone and getting on some awesome roads.

Also, a special thanks to anyone who put up with my geriatric pace haha.

  9. So back on topic, where are the north west side people wanting to meet up? Looks like we have people coming from Berea, N. olmstead, Brookpark, Lakewood. And if Justin can stand the cold start maybe Elyria. So does anyone have a spot they feel is central? It is about 70 miles to meet in Bolivar from my place so figure we are gonna need to meet somewhere around 9 am and be on the road around 9:15. I plan to slab it down 77s unless someone has a better route. And no taking 84 down is no better just slower and more deer.

I'm good with the slab down. Gets a bit buzzy on the 500, but nothing unbearable.

What about meeting somewhere along 480. Maybe the best buy lot on ridge? Should be central enough for most and kind of on the way down.

  10. :welcomeor:

There's a lot of riders here that can attest to trackdays for the best environment to learn your bikes capabilities, and proper techniques - plus you'll have a blast doing it

That's all I've been hearing. it definitely makes me even more excited to give a trackday a shot... if that's even possible

  11. Welcome! As said.... a Great choice for a first bike!

Thanks! Now that I've got the suspension more to my liking, I've been toying with the idea of taking it to the track next season. I was going to wait until I got a newer bike that is built with track use in mind, but taking my GS might be good for the first couple outings.

Has anyone taken a bike like mine (250r, GS500, EX500 etc) to the track? Thoughts?

  12. I love the jeep in the back too. 4dr wrangler will be my next car.

That's Annie! I've had her for just about 2 years. Love it. It's a great vehicle for NE Ohio. Awesome in the snow and fun to take around topless during the summer:cool:

  13. Good choice of bike for a newbie.

Probably fast enough to outrun most of the flamers in Lakewood anyway. :p

Thanks. I liked the bike when I got it and figured it would be a good learning tool. I've since replaced the front fork springs with sonic springs .95 kg/mm straight rates and 10/15 wt fork oil and swapped the rear shock with one from a kat 600. Wow, totally different bike.

And yes, I would imagine it could function as a more than suitable flamer getaway vehicle :D

  14. Hello All,

I just started riding this season. Took the MSF BRC course back in may and have been riding my '94 GS500 since then. I've been learning a ton and have put just about 2000 miles on so far with no intention of slowing down.
