Going to be ordering some new tires for this summer and was looking at the D211GPAs on racetireservice.com, 7455 med front and 8477 med+ rear. Think these will hold up for 5 MidO track days at a medium/slow pace (1:40-1:45ish)? I would be running them with warmers. Is there a better/cheaper option or source? They're going on a 100rwhp R6, so they won't exactly be getting punished...

I ran the Pirelli Superbike Pro trackday slicks last year and they did okay but tended to slide on a few corner exits. Only wore about halfway through them in five trackdays though...

If you have warmers, a well setup suspension, run proper pressures, and decent track temps, the GPAs will last you at your pace.

The issue is, if any of the for mentioned are not ideal, they will not last. I coached all year on one set of GPAs but took good care of them.

A good starting point is 32 front and 23 rear hot on the warmers. Adjust depending on temperatures.

If you don't have experience reading your tires and monitoring pressures just before and immediately after leaving the track, go for the Q3s.

With the Q3s, you don't have to mess with warmers and they will easily run your pace. Not sure of a starting pressure though. A few of the coaches run Q3s and will have better experience with them than I.

Hope to see you at the track!

  3. awesome!!! Here's to having another bike and instructing again sometime next year! Gotta get a damn house bought first though.....

I got that out of the way in 2015.

Sold my house, bought a house, moved my mom, moved my mother n law, sold my mom's house put the mother n laws condo on the market, and have almost renovate my entire main floor.

Lost my job, started a new one, and a second part time job.

Oh and picked up a newer track bike. :)

I'm ready to get more riding in this year!!! Only did about 20 track days and 4 days of racing last year.

Anyone looking for a well setup 07 - 12 CBR 600 RR track bike? :)

  4. My personal rule is if the deer does not drop in sight, I wait minimum of 30 mins in my stand (if I know if was a solid lung /heart hit ) before I go retrieve my arrow. Blood on arrow must be bright and bubbly before I go any further.

If blood on arrow is dark or has an odor , I back out slowly and wait 4 hrs. If I know for sure its a gut hit and no liver, I wait at least eight. Most deer hit will only go 100yds or less and lay down. But once they are jumped, most certainly with a gut shot, they are gone , little blood trail after their initial bed and thick woods make for an impossible track.

I have used a dog ( not a tracker- a Rottweiler [emoji3]) and recovered deer gut hit deer but only after a night had gone by. If you let them lay in their first beds , odds are they will only move a short distance until they expire and be 200 yes or less from the shot.

Best of luck in your future hunts, sounds like you are off to a good season

    This is great information ^^^

I learned the same thing the hard way. Only made that mistake once.

Always wait longer now. Let them be, and they will stay put until it is time to come and pick them up.
