Did you see the pilot bearing, any chance it was keeping enough drag on input shaft to keep it turning

I don't remember if cars have springs in the clutch disc but in heavy duty clutches they do and will break and jam up the clutch causing similar issues.

The glow plug relay on mine goes bad about every other year, About $80 at napa, I have never had an issue with the crank sensor but believe there was a recall for them. I thought I read somewhere that the 7.3 was put in until mid Nov 02 for the 03 model year
