  1. I like how everyone says "real racing is not in a straight line"

I'd like to see you pilot a 7 second bike and run it to its potential.

Just because it's not your thing, doesn't mean it's easy.

Go tell Rickey Gadson he isn't a real racer and has no skills.

He'll i would love to see 80% of sport bike guys or most any other bikes run even close to there advertised times. I see lots of 11 second liter bikes at the strip. I read somewhere here about 90% bike and 10% rider crap , that's funny shit. It's the other way around. The launch and 60 foot time is the whole race, not the mention staying in your bracket. After that it's tuck and twist the throttle. Even road race guys work their launch skills to get the hole shot .

  2.  Now days I think 90% of the Harley riders know better If not they learn fast and we only build our bikes to play with other Harleys and mine is not stock either but I have learned to do as many mods as you can while always trying to keep it looking as stock as possible.

That is a good statement Heavy, any of the guys I ride with who have "Modified" their HD's do it to be different than the rest of the pack- and race and or one up other Harleys. (or Metrics) . I don't think any of the HD guys here think thier sleds are fast, but we are not thinking their junk either. Each their own, people can like or hate whatever they want; that's why there are so many choices in the bike world.

  3. You'd be surprised. I've had more than a few...maybe some were just fucking around to see if I'd run them but more than a couple actually thought they could take my Jap crap. Had a guy on an old amf shovel try and race me on my 72 cb 750 once and he was super pissed that he lost. Had a buddy who thought his iron head spotster was hot shit till I whipped him on my tl...Also had a guy on one of those hideous big dog choppers try and race me on my old fzr600. He made lots of noise, got the jump but once I came up on 6k rpm I passed him. Happens more than you think.

My bad, I never took your CB into consideration. I was thinking your Bandit or your TL. I owned both those bikes and never had any crusier guy want to run me.

  4. Nice. I love smoking harleys.

Sam how many harley guys really race you? How many times has one tried to pass you or pulled up and said " let's race" - I bet less than a few. Unless there is a huge Harley drag racing scene in Massillon.

Most guys just know better and don't even look your way.

  5. HDs are what they are. I don't understand why they give the VRod guys a hard time. At least they are HD guys.

It will be interesting to see if they are more open to water cooled bikes in the future. You can only reliably produce so much power with an air cooled motor. Water cooled Harley's are inevitable. Project Rushmore and the small entry level bikes are just the beginning.

Because they were different mike , and people don't like change . I would hear the Porsche crap all the time . I would quickly remind them that Harley and Davidson hired Paul Kruger - a German to build the first motor from a blue print in 1903 . They would get quiet !
  6. What really holds hd back is basic design. 45° pushrod 2 valve head motor with knife and fork con rods and a single pin crank. High tech shit....for 1903. And what holds the company back from making a better motor is all the dick heads that insist that this antiquated tractor mill is somehow good. Big Bad v twin power blah blah...Most hd bikes will get stomped by a ninja 300. Pretty fuckin bad ass.

I'll never understand the mentality of hd fan boys. It's just bullshit they put up to justify paying tomorrow's prices for yesterday's technology.

Whoa you need a Snickers .

  7. Lol....harley makes an ok bike for what it is. People often ask me why I don't just buy a harley. I tell them that I don't want one, that they don't make a bike for me. Their immediate response is either sportster or vrod. I remind them that one is slow and the other handles like a fat chick on a bigwheel. I've ridden several harley bikes, the acceleration of the vrod impressed me but that's about it.

I had a v-rod before my glide, you are dead on about shit handling! Motor was good but sitting with your feet in front of you with zero wind protection at 125 sucked ! Motor was too heavy to do much else with it.

The shit HD guys catch here ain't crap compared to the hazing V-rod guys got from the push rod crowd. We were hated. I heard nice Porsche about 2 times a day. They never understood.

  8. Can't defend a lot of this , I know too many harley guys who have bought full on into the Screamin Eagle stuff. They really do think it makes their stuff faster . They bike should come with the parts but why ? We buy the shit anyway. I used Fuel Moto parts in my build and did the work myself, saved a ton .

Harley's can easily come with more power but not air cooled like they are now. they are set up so lean from the factory just to clear EPA regulations so simple mods really do wake them up a bit. The liquid cooled models this year will be the norm shortly . The Screamin a Eagle 110 bikes are about as big as HD can now without emissions issues in the USA.

  9. For as much as hyper sports weigh they are pretty nimble not very light though. But still lighter than a harley though. If i was buying a cruiser for 2 up I'd probably buy a ultra classic. If i was buying for myself alone it would be a jackpot or hammer

I agree, spent some time on my brothers ZX14, and have rode a few Busas, -liked them both. I like the Victory's, one of my riding buddies has the judge. Handles very well for what it is.

  10. J_TI have $375 worth of those gift cards on hand after the holidays Your right I think almost every relative gets me one now I use mine to get tires, fluids and parts I think I have collected enough Harley gear over the years to dress a whole ship crew TonikI have no problem making sparks but the wife bitches every time we do  and keeps telling me Im to old to do that anymore What has age have to do with it.A few years ago I bought a set of ferrocerium flint steel wear plates for my floor boards. They get epoxy to the bottom of floorboard when they hit the road they spark like a huge Zippo lighter I never put them on the bike my son told me they are illegal to put on cars and bikes because they can start fires during the dry season

I need fluids so I will spend mine on that. A least they got rid of the dealer specific cards, they spend the same anywhere now. If your looking adventure has syn3 for 9$

  11. Could have to do with sportbikes not being made, designed or intended to be comfortable? Sport touring bikes like an FJR or a Concours 14, many times are going to have allot of miles on them, but just like many HD riders out there, they too may not be ridden much. Some just like to throw allot of money into a bike for bragging rights, but many times all those add on's and modifications rarely get used if ever. ;)

    Well said .
  12. I know a wonderful 06 VFR800 for sale :D

Great bike , but I'm looking a bit more heavy sport family. Connie or bmw GT . Maybe FJR but I don't love the looks. Trying to go down to 1 bike so I can enjoy other hobbies that take $$$ . I do like the triumphs too, but I want to try something a bit bigger with a shaft. Never had a modern shaft drive. My V65 saber and V- max left the stable a long time ago. Fun bike that didn't stop or turn!

  13. This forum is filled with educated riders who respect gear , and have a clue when it comes to riding. You too are in the minority - for every sport biker I see in a power ranger suit ( that's funny ) I see 10 squids wearing Adidas pants , shorts, flip flops or unlaced high tops , with a shirt with the sides cut out showing some star tattoo or lame saying. Then they top it off with a unbuckled cheap helmet. Sit on west 6th in Cleveland And watch them ride buy all day. Harley guys don't do much to help their cause , but not all sport guys wear the gear or live the lifestyle. They pose too. I'm sure they pad heavy duty's numbers.

  14. I have Ducati swag, but I wear it under my safety gear. That's the difference. It's cool, though. I need to laugh at something.

HD actually has a line of gear that's good, it's called the FXR line. Waterproof, reflective , and armored. Some are heated to. Made by hein Gerike ( spelling?) no different than wearing a euro brand leather, but we do. Ring a lot of heat on ourselves . The pirate shit is out of control.

  15. Resale doesn't mean much to anyone, but HD riders. I couldnt care less what my bike is worth, I plan to ride it til it falls apart. Stereotypically, HD owners ride to and from the bar, only putting 300-500 miles a year before moving to the next shiny pile of chrome.I don't mind the bikes, they are decent enough and though it's taken 60 years, they finally have a reliable powerplant. Sent while riding

Dustin you should browse eBay , Craigslist , ect. And look at the miles on most sport bikes . There is a lot more low miles sport bikes than any other type. I have been looking for a sport tourer hardcore and have noticed this daily. Other than the sport touring rides most 3-5 yr old sport bikes in the north have less than 7k on them. I average that every year. Just saying !

  16. A pirate costume is a ridiculous outfit to go play 1960s biker when you get off work.  People wear them because they (incorrectly) think it makes them look cool.  But how else are you supposed to let people know that you rode nearly 800 miles last summer unless every-fucking-thing-you-own-has-a-HD-logo-on-it???

A power ranger suit is a riciulous outfit that could actually save your skin.  I don't know anyone that wears one because they think it makes them look cool.

Tpoppa, this why we get H-D gear. Once your family knows you have a HD it's over. Gift cards every birthday, x-mas or anniversary .
