    Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I've posted here. But a riding buddy from New Jersey and I put together a ride event through the MSTA, centered in Milford PA. We would like to invite anybody who's more or less in the area. The event will run from check-in on Thursday Aug. 1 through check-out on Sunday. Two days of riding. We have reserved about half of the rooms in a highly rated family owned motel (10 of 19 rooms) just outside of Milford. We ran the event this past October on very short notice and we had a great time.

The MSTA runs a number of fairly large events every year. But this one is a type that's called a "Just For Fun (JFF)." There's no entry fee, no banquet, and no T-shirts. Just some pre-prepared routes and the chance to hang out with some other riders. And we get a small discount from the motel. We ride in small groups and we will coordinate those at dinner the night before or just before we take off.

If you’re not from the area and thought that NY and NJ were nothing but urban sprawl – get your butt up (over, or down) here, and we’ll show you some wilderness, cliffs, and maybe some Bald Eagles. You won’t be in any city traffic, but on a clear day, you can see NYC from the top of Perkins Memorial Drive. If you’re from the area, come on out and meet some other sport touring riders. Have dinner with us at the historic Dimmick Inn & Steakhouse, in Milford, or perhaps the Carriage House in Barryville, NY.

We have prepared several street routes, 100 to 250 miles. Routes will be available on printed maps and by gpx.

    Destinations/overlooks/stops include:
Hawks Nest Highway (see the banner photo)
    Bethel Woods (Woodstock)
    The Roebling Aqueduct
    Sugar Loaf NY
    Perkins Memorial on Bear Mountain
The spectacular Route 106 through Harriman St Park
Storm King Highway with overlook on West Point Military Academy
    Greenwood Lake
    The Dingman’s Ferry Bridge

  2. Hey Jared,

Yes, it's quiet. But most of the forums that I've been on are quiet or closing up. Blame it on FaceBook.

I'm from WV in Parkersburg. I noticed your post, but was hoping for a bit more info on what kind of riding you do, so I didn't reply right away, and then I don't check back very often...

Anyway, I organize the WV group of the Motorcycle Sports Touring Association (MSTA). We meet the second Thursday of every month with MSTA members and other riders from the area, including guys from SE Ohio. We hold the meetings in Williamstown since most of our nearby guys are in PKB, Marietta, or nearby. Caldwell is a mere 30 minutes away.

You might check out the web page at RideMSTA.COM and the about tab to get a feel for the sorts of guys who are members.

Or just show up next Thursday at DaVinci's at 6:30. If you want to attend, please let me know so i can adjust our reservation.

We have prepared several street routes, 100 to 250 miles. Routes will be available on printed maps and by gpx and REVER files. Destinations/overlooks/stops include Hawk’s Nest Highway, Woodstock (Bethel Woods), NY-6 through Harriman State Park. Perkins Memorial outlook, Storm King Mtn.

This event will be late in the year and this is short notice – but we really wanted to get it restarted!

The motel prices are a bit inflated because this is peak leaf season. Upside -  the rides will be extra colorful.

  4. Gorgeous Cobalt Blue 2016 FJR 1300A (not the fussy electronic suspension model) with 39,300 miles.

The 2nd gear transmission and front brake switch recalls were performed in February along with a valve check. All were good I'm asking $9,500 on FB marketplace, with all the extras stripped off or $10,500 as is. I can do a bit better for OR members. Ask me.

Michelin PR4GT's with more than half the tread remaining.

Standard features - the LED cornering lights are on the ES model, not the A.

    Extras in the as-is price:

Shad 50L topcase with base plus Garald Stiffy Bracket. MCE Canyon Cages, front (w highway pegs) & rear. Bruudt passenger peg extensions. Townsend's helmet locks with Powerlet outlets on both sides.

  5. Rider - not Race... Dang, I'd blame it on autocorrect, but that would have picked a LESS appropriate replacement word.

I'm taking the ChampDay session. Not the ChampStreet. The Champ day is new this year. From different email replies, it seems not all of the YCRS guys have the same understanding of what this one is. I think, and I'm hoping that it's sort of like a track day but with more emphasis on coaching. One description said it has a low student to coach ratio.

Anyway, I borrowed, I mean stole, I mean bought @JustinNck1 ' s leathers. So I expect to have a nice hot sweaty time.

You have piqued my ADV newbie interest.

Well, get your butt over here that week.

I'm probably going to take the WR out that weekend. I haven't scheduled any vacation for weekdays, yet, but I did block out any MSF classes for the weekend.

  7. @Scruit I will be listing my 2016 A for sale soon. That's the "base" version without all of the electronic handling features that make maintenance and longevity a pain. It still has all of the other nice things, ABS, cruise, heated grips, all LED lights - and other things that I don't often think of. The transmission recall was done and they replaced the clutch which started slipping after the recall work.

I'm in Parkersburg WV so you're probably not that close, but let me know if you might pass by and would like to take it for a spin.

Why am I selling it? Well, I bought it in the hope that the wife would do more riding with me. Her knees were bothering her when she rode pillion on my FZ6 - which has crazy sport bike ergos for the passenger. But lately she hasn't wanted to go riding and agreed that I should sell it. I'm going to be cleaning her up from a trip to Canaan Valley two weeks ago, then posting. My price won't be exceptionally low, but I'm planning to also offer a stripped version without all the added extras: Shad top case, crash guards, passenger peg extenders.
