  1. I never changed anything as far as the engine goes.

The valves were fine when the bike was running last year, and I can't imagine timing would be an issue.

The compression (although I can't seem to find a general psi for this bike) has remained constant. So I don't believe it to be the motor or gaskets.

I did spray my boots with wd-40, however the Roma fluctuate to fast and sporadically it's impossible to tell whether that's having the slightest effect. But the boots visually look fine.

My idle jet is the reason I tore the carb down this last time. I soaked it a good while in cleaner. Blew it clean. Even ran a guitar string through the holes and ports. I did not reject.

But yes. Because it was running fine until this year down my only thought is I did something wrong.

  2. I have been putting a lot of work into a 97 dr200se.

Finally obtained the title. And created a mad max street fighter style bike.

But all things redone, now I can't get it running and when it does. It doesn't stay.

    So to start,

New oil and filter, new air filter, wiring completely redone, top to bottom.

Carb has been rebuilt, quite a few times now. New spark plug. And I am getting spark!

When I try to start the bike cold with choke fully pulled I can crank it for about 30 seconds with starter spray and throttle fully open, bike will start, but doesn't idle and will die if I don't keep pulling the throttle.

Once it's warmed up, I can only start it by removing the air box cap and pulling out the filter, then with choke on, and full throttle it'll start, but same idle issues.

I have tried all the way up and back on the idle fuel screw and sometimes starting requires less throttle but still no idle.

At all times the idle isn't just fluctuating with throttle constant, but the bike immediately dies without throttle. And throttle has to be to high for the idle adjust screw to compensate.

Spark plug is black from to much fuel, but I just don't know anymore, the obvious doesn't seem to work. I can only imagine I've done something wrong.

    Any help and advice?post-17975-0-30002500-1431744296_thumb.j

  3. I'll get onto an actual computer when I get off work.

But if your willing to trade. I think you've got the best offer yet.

I updated the craigslist ad with a lot more pictures. If you want to see more.

I really don't want to shoot myself in the foot here.

But I feel like your katana is well worth more than this dirt bike is.

Don't let me talk you outve it though. I'm just an honest person

  4. I forget that the mobile version of the site doesn't show the "bikes" portion of the user profile next to the post. I have a 2000 Katana 750 with the fairings removed/trimmed, and a circular headlight.

The stock fairings are on a shelf in my garage. The only ones that are trimmed is a portion of the tail, and one of the inner-panels is missing from what would be a radiator shroud if it wasn't oil-cooled.

I'll get onto an actual computer when I get off work.

  5. I was a car salesman. The most annoying response is "what's the least you'll take on it" I always reply. "The amount I posted, but I'll take more"

The art of negotiating is dead! People are arrogant and lazy.

Mostly I trade now. When you trade. The values are only what you say they are. A $900 gun could be worth a $1500 bike if the person wants it. That being said. Ask me how I've gotten all 3 of my bikes. Lol.

  6. What kind of bike are you suggesting?

Also update. I drew out the title today. It is NOT a salvage title. It's the original. So no necessary inspection to register it just the legal requirements to ride on the street.

  7. I will also post the craigslist ad.

I'm trying to find a starter bike for my wife.

She's a shorter woman. So I'd like to go no higher than a 600. And even that's pushing it. We're thinking 250.

Because of my situation I would take any bike that needs work. Or tlc. Etc. but no more basket cases. I have enough projects already.

    I have a 1997 dr200 dual sport dirt bike.

It isn't perfect by any stretch. But runs strong.

Will needs carbs cleaned since its sat for quite a while now. And a new battery.

The bike has a Salvage title. So it is perfect for off road, trail riding. State parks. Etc.

The headlights work. Front turn signals work. Speedometer, odometer, and clutch work. Mother front brake line has a pin hole leak in it. And the key hole was jimmied with a knife by whoever previously owned it.

But the key lock has been bypassed and the electric start still works to start the bike.

The rear fender was broken off. However is fixed and comes with the bike. But doesn't have brake lights or turn signals. (Which is all that would be needed to make it street legal).

I also have a purple ruger lcp 380 to add with it.

It has the rubber grip. 2 mags. Box. Paperwork. A paddle holster and pocket holster. And a box of hollow points.

I don't have a cash value for the bike in its condition.

But in hoping someone has an old garaged street bike they haven't moved in quite a while. That would be able to get better use from these.

  8. Obtained legally? Gray area I guess.

However I know members of this board have gotten bikes and later obtained the title through other means.

    The n

Bike was obtained in a trade. Then later the history was discovered. However the title is in progressives name. But has been signed and notarized to me. Yes I'll have to pay the extra fee. But all things aside what else could go down?

Regardless of history or situation, I have the legal title, from the legal owner, signed and motorized legally to me?

  9. I haven't called yet. It's rather low priority.

But I rather agree with the above.

I'm going to take it to my bmv. And attempt to title it, legally. As it says "original title" on it I believe they will give me plates or tell me upfront if something is amiss. Then I get it inspected. THEN get plates. Either way the outcome the same

  10. That's what confuses me. This one says "original"

However I had to obtain it from the insurance company that claimed it when it was stolen from original owner in2004.

When I go to the dmv. With "original" will it need to be inspected, or can I register it as is?

  11. I finally ended my first (and last, ever) fight for a title for a bike that didn't have one when purchased.

    The bike was previously stolen.

However Vargas reported it as recovered. But long story short I now hold the title in my hand. The insurance company that held it said it would be salvage title.

But this says "original" NOT salvage on it and looks like every other title in my safe

What should a salvage title look like? Or say on it to differentiate it from a clean title?

  12. so every forum i have been a part of (mainly bike specific, to help me rebuild my several bikes) i have been invited by a members of that forum and this,

i've watched this forum for a little while, but never actually signed up.

    My name is Daniel.

I ride a 1981 Suzuki GS850GL (which i rebuilt and restored back to her former glory)

I'm now currently in the tedious process of rebuilding a 1985 Kawasaki ZX900 (ninja). i've not been big into the sport bike scene, but i'm always one to try something new.

plus, my heavy GS is a great fun, easy ride.

my dirt bikes are a great time, i love the speed, and Adrenaline, so the sport bike has tempted me for sometime now.

I've been, and am, all over central ohio, right now in pickerington/reynoldsburg area, but grew up in pataskala,

have lived in lancaster, sugar grove, and so on.

not at all sure what else to put in an introduction.
