    Well?????

Got it most of the way apart and needed to take the sprocket/chain off the output shaft of the motor. They hid one bolt on the "shifter cover" behind the sprocket.

Hammered the keeper washer down and got a big ass socket on but couldn't keep the wheel from moving while I tried to loosen it. Was turning the motor over and chasing my 450lb bike around the garage while trying to keep it on the kickstand and loosen the nut. No bueno.

If I had a stand and some more time I'd try and do it, but 10 minutes from me is a bike mechanic that's worked on me and my dad's bikes for 30 years. I'm just going to throw the bike in the truck and let him deal with it 😂

I'll let everyone know how it turns out and I'll show the mechanic the video @Gixxus Christ! posted and see what he thinks.

    Thanks everyone 👍

@Fiend I may have discovered your problem, or at least this guy had the same problem and it turned out to be a loose screw holding the shift star on. Easy to diagnose. Easy to fix.

@Gixxus Christ! Very interesting.... When I get home from work tonight I'll check that out. Thanks for the research.

Are the levers adjustable? See if you give it more travel it works better. How much free play is in the lever?

Levers are adjustable, but I rode the bike last week and it was fine. The clutch seems to operate normally for stopping in gear and downshifting.

Did this just start to happen? Did you change anything before it happened?

Yes just started. Saturday I thought I shortshifted the bike a couple of times but it must've been this issue. Other than one or two shifts Saturday it was fine. Sunday it just totally started failing to work.

I just remembered last night that on one shift Saturday there was a grinding sound and the bike didn't go into gear. I guarantee whatever that was, it's causing this issue... maybe I'm not being deliberate enough with my shifts, but damn, I've been riding bikes since I was 8 and never had a shifting issue.

I changed the oil and filter yesterday. Attempted to shift in my driveway with the bike rolling, but no luck.

We have this old bike mechanic nearby who is great.. I'm taking it to him because I don't have time to mess with it 😑

  4. Took the Kawi ER6N out today and to my 60mph surprise I couldn't upshift from 2-3.

If I bumped the shift lever about 4 or 5 times very deliberately it would finally go. Seemed to especially not like it at higher RPMs.... Exactly where you normally upshift.

Changing the oil and filter tonight. I'll ride it this week and report back. If you guys have any other ideas or if this is a known issue on these things let me know... I searched for a few minutes and mainly found it to be a problem with supersport, not this bike.

    Thanks 👍

There are no rules here. Hell I just told the owner of the board I was going to shoot him with his own gun after I bought it from him.

This could have been a cool thread with places to eat all over the place. A reference these for every one. But now you :asshat: 's ruined. You will fit right in here. We pretty much fuck every thread up.

No race suit for you this weekend, I got to swap out tires. Next weekend.

    Next weekend should work.

    OhioRiders is Vietnam?

In my short time here it seems that OR is, quite literally, 'Nam.

I would feel a heck of a lot better if we knew for sure that this thing actually fit you. I ride right through where you live all the time when I take weekend bike runs. How about we meet, I would bet I will be down there this weekend.

    That'll work even better. 👍

Welcome. Mid Ohio isn't the only track accessible from Ohio.

N2td.org check it out. A few of us are staff/coaches for that org and we run many tracks.

Is this going to ruin my life? 😂

Welcome aboard, don't take many things posted on the board seriously and start growing a THICK skin! LOL😁

I'm in the construction industry... Lol 👍

  8. Hey guys,

I have a 2009 ER6N with Two Bros and Juice Box.

I got the bike with a custom dyno tuned map and it ran somewhat poorly - zero power at all under 4,000RPM (bike would stumble on throttle below 4,000), bad throttle response, surging power.

I located the manual for the Juice box which said position 2 was for my setup (stock everything except Two Bros slip on) and set it to that position. Everything about the way the engine ran improved. Much smoother throttle response, actually some had low RPM power, no surge.

I know out of the box tunes are not always the greatest and I'd like to ensure the bike isn't running lean or anything like that. Is there a way I can confirm this without taking it to a dyno shop?

    Thanks

Yes. They have some great deals on closeout IXS stuff. I have a US 46 EU 56 white and black. It's new as hell, two track days and one day on the street with a minor wreck. There is no damage to it. If you find out that size fits you...it is yours for half of what ever IP is selling them for.

This is a two piece zip together one though.

    Good info, thanks.

I'm ignorant of sizing on these things - I'm 6'0"/160lbs/30" waist. Are we ballpark?

If you are going to Mid Ohio, you have very little to do. Tape the lights and mirrors. A dab of RTV on oil and coolant caps, and oil filter.

Full details here, you would be in the novice group.

Thanks a bunch for the link!

I'll have to look at getting gloves and leathers at a decent price. I'm assuming Iron Pony has some in stock I could try?

  11. Hi guys. New here and saw this section and thought I'd share.

I'm from the Cambridge OH area and yesterday I rode 146 out of Pleasant City through Chandlersville and Carlwick. Stopped in Carlwick at (maybe the only?) little general store and had breakfast. Then on to Zanesville.

In Zanesville jumped on 555 and took that all the way to A&B Carryout and got a "Triple Nickel" shirt. The ladies there were also very nice in letting me use their Windex and paper towels to clean a giant bug off my visor.

Between A&B Carryout and Ringold a group of riders caught up to me (I was behind a car) and rode together for a mile or so before they took off down 555 while I went straight on 78. Probably would've stayed riding with them if I knew they were turning. I was debating on turning toward McConnellsville down 78 or continuing on 555.

Ate at the Chatterbox Tavern in McConnelsville. Quaint little town, good restaurant, nice overall. Only LE I saw was one car in McConnelsville.

Went down 78 to the Big Muskie bucket. Hung out there for a bit. Then hopped on 83 and went up through Cumberland.

Everywhere I went there were bikes, but no real traffic, and the whole time I was only stuck behind cars maybe 3 times and never for long. It was 130 miles overall and a great time. I'll be repeating it for sure.

  12. Hi everybody.

I'm from the Cambridge OH area and I ride a 2009 Kawi ER6N. It has a Two Bros exhaust and power commander with Pirelli Angels.

I joined to learn about everybody's favorite places to ride, and because I want to do track days to figure out how to properly ride my bike.

I read the stickies on track days and it seems I have a lot to figure out and do to my bike before I can show up and do one.

Pic below is a ride I did yesterday. 146 to Zanesville, then 555 (bought a Triple Nickel shirt!) down to 78 to 83. All of that is right in my area.

    Thanks

    Eric
