HOA wants us to remove part of our new driveway
carl1647545492 replied to carl1647545492's topic in Dumpster
^ Yeah lol. The driveway was a "consolation" for us not getting a actual garage yes so its big figuring we may need the space down the line. Wife usually gets it right we called the Township to see if we could build on to the existing garage and it turns out we could have to the lot line if wanted,we didn't think we needed to call the HOA hence where were at. So we will kiss some ass and play nice see if we can appease and move on. -

HOA wants us to remove part of our new driveway
carl1647545492 replied to carl1647545492's topic in Dumpster
We only spoke to Orange township on the phone and we were told we could take the driveway out to our lot line if we wanted, so we went with that and was a surprise when the HOA said different. This caught us out not their fault so I would confirm with all parties. Initially were going to build a third car garage and had builders come out and quote us they spoke about the township lot lines and such but cannot remember if the HOA was ever mentioned we decided 80K for a 3rd garage was too much but had we gone for it tearing down a structure would have really sucked. -

Yes we made it wider,I think they are definitely pissed because we didn't call them first as much as anything. After my wife spoke with the township and were told we could go all the way to the lot line if we wanted to it didn't occur to us to call them. -
Got a letter from the HOA to remove part of the driveway we recently installed,we went larger and in fairness to them we didn't consult them first but called the orange township zoning instead. Has anyone mediated something like this before?

We had 3 companies come out 2 gave us circa 80k 1 was detailed with 3d drawings 1 company came out but didn't bother to quote us anything.

We did a concrete driveway very happy with it. Really wanted a 3rd car garage but at 80K couldnt justify.

Back to work then laid off again during pandemic....anyone?

Steve I can relate to your situation, if you knew the people well you could work some kind agreement where you could prove yourself and they would want to give you a FT gig. If you just told them straight I don't want to endanger my assistance for a short job but would happily do it if it were permanent, mabey they would appreciate the honesty? -

I wouldn't sell yourself short,we are all products of our upbringing and can change that if we want it enough. Do you incentivize your existing customers to refer their friends? -

^No question, did a 10 minute telephone call last week with a Attorney referral its hard to say I he is my guy from a short call but we will see. The mentoring group SCORE looks like a great idea as they have retired CFO,s CEO,s that they "pair" up with you they essentially mentor you where you may be able to become more than a paying customer.I would do better with this bc of the relationship aspect. Did I mention it was free? Has anyone used it?? https://www.score.org -

Yes,I like the fast feedback you can get from a forum not absolute but. I joined this looks like it may be a good resource as a mentoring platform.https://columbusoh.score.org -

Backstory...I have been in the Advertising industry for about 20 years and met with Brian,he is the owner a small regional ad company,I started as a sales rep proved myself and got paid well.He sold the company a year later he kinda retired for a bit and I went to work for someone else doing very well for myself producing solid results. In the last 6 years I worked on some projects with Brian,(he eventually got bored being retired) I produced good results and because of that was interested when he wanted to start a new "online cell/app" type product and make me a partner. This would be starting from nothing no clients to speak of,my prime job would be customer acquisition/train new ppl to do the same. All good so far, apart from the compensation. He drew up a agreement for me to sign and here is my hesitation my % seem low when we sell the company and the $$ on a ongoing basis seems a tad low too. I can negotiate with him of course,we do not argue our beliefs goals align pretty well in fact, I'm the doer he's the idea guy more of a business owner behind the scenes and it works out.The goal is to have a big tec co buy the idea down the line I'm obviously ok with that as I will get a payoff. I have not invested in the LLC and I'm not currently part of it (I wasn't asked to) I wonder if he really wants a partner if he can give a smaller piece to make me feel good ? I,m cognizant that I need to have the details set before we get rolling,I have briefly spoken with a Attorney a referral of my CPA,he suggested I may want to be part of the LLC to get a say in what happens in the business. What is fair to ask for? 25% of the company ? The goal is to roll out locally then go national build it up and sell it. Is leaving room for investors to own a piece a good reason to keep my part low? This knowledge is not in my lane unfortunately thanks in advance. -
I'm looking to partner with someone I have had a business relationship with for 6 years and have some reservations about the agreement/percentage paid, really I think they are low. We seem to compliment each other on many other parts of the business I'm the doer he is the back end office type so we are good there. Thanks in advance.
