  1. Actually, they kind-of do. The thing is, the variance that you're measuring is so small that it'd take two lifetimes to give a shit. And I can think of many examples of expensive cars that aren't as good as cheap cars. A TVR doesn't drive better when it's broken, which it will be, often... but it is a work of art. The cheapest watch I've ever bought was still about $5 more expensive than the cheapest running car I've ever bought, and that car was (is) awesome.
  2. It's giving you something to bitch about on the internet.
  3. Dude it's only 7:30, I get up at 5:45 every day. lol
  4. And I don't see a point to turbocharged sedans. I'm a mechanical guy, I like machines, and to me, those things are works of art. So, being art, they don't really have a point. There are much cheaper watches that keep better time and are waterproof et al.... but they don't have a 3 axis tourbillon, which is something I could stare at all day: The Patek isn't really my cup'o'tea, because everything is hidden. I'm not buying a hyper-expensive mechanism that I can't see. You could have gotten a Subaru GL for 1/10th the price of your car, why didn't you?
  5. The more we learn, the more we realize that space exploration and research DOES take care of home. The main engine tests are fucking impressive.
  6. That's no watch, it's a space station.
  7. I'm trying to sell a watch that's nicer than those. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72400 Funny thing about the sub-$500 watch market: Anything that has decent features tends to be gaudy as hell: I guess they figure that anyone only willing to spend $250 on a dress watch is some punter who wants to be flashy. Example: A 65mm wristwatch Sad thing: I actually like this, and I would buy it... if it weren't such a horrible knock-off. They couldn't even come up with their own name, just a mis-spelled Minerva. I like the look and the mechanism, and reveiws say they don't suck... but damnit the name is dumb, why cant they just keep their own name and take some pride in what they can do?
  8. This has me in an odd position: Knowing that a tourillon is a waste of tech on a wristwatch, yet also having a hard-on for the mechanism, and only being able to afford cheapass representations. What's a guy to do?
  9. They aren't wasting an assload of money, they're doing things the bargain-basement way. Assload of money: Send a drill up to the moon, start drilling, measure everything you find. Bargain basement: Lob a projectile at it and sniff the cloud.
  10. Check Ebay for the best prices. I appreciate the mind-boggling workmanship that's going on inside that thing... but I wouldn't pay 1/10,000th that price for something with a textured leather strap.
  11. Update: New battery. Just realized that, though I lack the specialty tool to open the case... but I HAVE a machine shop with brass-stock just up the hallway. Watch now comes with specialty tool, too.
  12. http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/9926/watchk.jpg Used but flawless. Was a gift, and I'm having some trouble narrowing down what it costs; I'm seeing anywhere from $180 to $430. 38mm case, quartz "movement", date/alarm/stopwatch, 1/20thsecond-60 minute-12-hour registers, all stainless. Comes with box (as soon as I find it), pretty sure the warranty has run out. Ummm.... $100? Price goes up if I put a battery in it, which may happen because ive been wanting to visit the local watchsmith.
  13. Yea it's really damaging my calm. yosemite did pop once, but IIRC the section of crust over the magma chamber is wicked-thick right now, resulting in drama but no explosion. In a few million years, it'll move off the chamber, then it will pop.
  14. True. I managed to get them over my WRX brakes with a bit of grinding, but the speed6 has bigger disks.
  15. http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/enviornment/massive-earthquake-rocks-the-pacific-ocean_100257513.html# Money pool on where the next one will be?
  16. 215 70 15... so about 27", I have 4 in great shape. Winterforce tires, M+S rated Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but thy should get you around if you're 4000lb or under, and I'll give them to you for $250 if you peel them off the rims.
  17. He should agree: It should be left how it was writen. . . . In Latina.
  18. http://conservapedia.com/Conservative_Bible_Project LOL! The Neo-cons have to edit the "perfect book"... cuz of the liberals. Just like King James: Lemme fudge that a bit so it suits my political needs.
  19. The subaru? I don't even know who got 2nd.... The only reason I knew who won: I wanted AJ to go out and crowd them so we could get our pic taken with them taking the checker, jus tlike the real Lemans!
  20. Started... umm.. way back, not sure how far. The lead car is picked at random. Worked up to 24th (or higher, need official results), had one of the fastest cars with some of the quickest lap times.... then our exhaust cam started rounding itself out. Car sat for 6hr, then we put it back in to finish the race. Still kept a good pace, and the blue smoke waited until the last 10 min to start coming out. Finished 77th, 403 laps completed, quickest lap was 1:27.
  21. well.... no. lol Different department, but i thinkt he hours are a bit flexible: As long as you're here 8hrs and get your stuff done, you should be fine. I generally work either 7 to 4 or 8 to 5.
  22. Back, finished. Tired. Sick, too. Something about being up till 3am in the cold.
