Not the one you are thinking of - the red Lightning - that was sold a while back - this is my 'new' daily driver, and yes it also has a turbo on it.
-
Nope, I needed to refresh the motor I had in it (this one) and I had a spare 5.8, I got a set of stock GT40 heads, and had all the machine work done on the spare block, got the fresh heads on it and the truck was only down for 2 days when it came time to swap it all out, rather than 2-4 weeks while waiting for machine work to get done. The motor I'm running is almost the same - except for forged pistons, better rods a bit lower compression.
-
These came off my '94 Lightning. They have new K-Motion valve springs and aside from needed cleaned up, they are in fine shape. The motor they were on made 481/635 and was stock except for a turbo. They probably need a valve job because they have 140,000 miles on them. I would really prefer a local pickup here in Ohio, They are a real pain to ship, but I will ship them for $100 more. $350 Email - don@lasotaracing.com http://www.lasotaracing.com/Graphics/Heads%20aand%20block/heads.gif http://www.lasotaracing.com/Graphics/Heads%20aand%20block/heads1.gif http://www.lasotaracing.com/Graphics/Heads%20aand%20block/heads3.gif http://www.lasotaracing.com/Graphics/Heads%20aand%20block/heads4.gif

This came out of my '94 Lightning. It has 140,000 miles on it and the block itself was in fine shape. It comes with the stock 5.8 crank and stock pistons and rods. Obviously, it needs to be cleaned up and machine work done (honing/boring) and new bearings and rings. Normally the roller blocks are marked F4TE, this one is marked F4_E - but it was the stock block in my '94 Lightning and they all were rollers and we had done a roller cam swap in it with no issues. This is for local pickup in Ohio only, I won't even consider shipping it, so don't ask. $350 Email - don@lasotaracing.com http://www.lasotaracing.com/Graphics/Heads%20aand%20block/block.gif http://www.lasotaracing.com/Graphics/Heads%20aand%20block/block1.gif

I have a set of GT40 heads (not P heads) off my 1995 Lightning. I'm doing a motor swap and got a new set of identical heads on it to make the swap quicker. They have 140,000 miles on them but have brand new K-Motion K800 valve springs. They could use a clean up and probably a valve job. They were on my truck when it made 481/635 just two weeks ago. Email me at don@lasotaracing.com they are for pick up only too heavy to ship anywhere. $350 firm.

The same size the original "R" hoods from Ford were - 1.5" http://www.hofibertrends.com/94981%20page.htm

I need a bigger cowl hood to fit all the new stuff, being stuffed in my engine compartment - so I have to sell my old hood. It's an HO Fibertrends Cobra R hood. The rear has been opened up for venting and is screened. It's in pretty good shape, but you'll have to repaint it to match your car anyway, that is unless you happen to have a silver (Opal Frost) Mustang... $125 - no haggle, pick up in Delaware only. Please email me at don@lasotaracing.com because I don't get on here too much... http://www.lasotaracing.com/Graphics/Cam%20sale%20pics/stanghhod2.jpg http://www.lasotaracing.com/Graphics/don

Your point??

I think the closest place is Paul's Automotive in Cinci.

The pumps they supply with those kits are usually Walbro pumps and they are designed for Return style fuel systems, not returnless style systems like you have. They supply them because they are a cheap, short-term fix. The pumps for returnless systems are designed to vary pressure with voltage. The Walbro runs best full on. My guess is the pump is starting to fail and they always do in returnless systems. We usually refuse to tune returnless cars with Walbro pumps for this reason A single SVT Focus pump will be OK up to about 400 RWHP or so. If you go to Cobra pumps, you also need the tank or you'll suck the fuel can dry, maybe not on the dyno, but you will at the track. You'll need to get a retune when you upgrade pumps - and whoever tuned it needs to most likely modify some things to make it work best.

No problem Doc 06 - I knew you weren't ragging on us - we are so busy doing other things I just wanted to make sure we were an option too! BTW: Watched your car at Larue the other night - NICE! A Vette like yours is one of the few cars I'd trade my beast in for... If traction wasn't like a boat launch ramp at Alum Creek, I'm sure your ETs would have really fallen. I better get on Rob's case to get my cage done - looks like my #1 track ranking may be in jeopardy with some of you guys!! Don

If there is no authority, I think we are as close as it gets - I'm co-author of SCT's 120+ page Dealer's Tuning Manual, co-author of SCT's Pro Racer Package Tuning manual and we work for SCT training new dealers how to tune - we have trained new SCT dealers all over the country. We are one of SCT's first dealers and the first in Ohio. We have tuned TONS of '03-04 Cobras and Lightnings, both here in Columbus, in Akron for Big Shot Dyno and on dynotune days we have done in conjunction with dealer tuning sessions. I have written 99% of SCT's product manuals, the dealers and Racers flash tuning tutorials and the recent XCalibrator 2 software tutorial videos seen here: http://www.sctflash.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14 I also do dealer support for SCT - I take phone calls from dealers daily with problem cars - you'd be surprised at some of the big name national dealers we have helped. I could go on, but I don't want to blow our own horn ... LOL!!! Just didn't want anyone to forget we are here too! And I ain't lyin' !!! Amy - The only contact I've ever had with you, I though I was being helpful, even though you were not a paying customer of ours - I'm sorry if we did something to elicit such a response from you... I will also concur that both Brian Turner and Ken at the Modular Depot are honest people, run great shops and know their stuff - most of the SCT dealers in Ohio get along terrifically - we are all friends!! For a basically stock car, the mail order tunes are right on - for nitrous, It'd be 1000% safer to have a wide band on it. Most of the nitrous tunes when you use the mfg. supplied jets err on the side of safety. But a couple of the returnless cars we have tuned with nitrous have had totally whacky A/F readings, so it's better to do a dynotune on it. Zex kits with smaller shots work really well, Noszles kits usually have problems. With a switch chip, you get up to 4 tunes, a stock position and 3 anti-theft positions. I'd need to know the EEC code on the Taurus, but I'm about 99% certain we can do all those things that you need. Call Rob at 740-971-4901 if you want to schedule a tune - or email me at don@lasotaracing.com We will honor those prices if you contact us in June about the tunes and get them done in a reasonable time frame - we have no control over chip prices increasing so we can't do the special forever. FYI: Besides doing this we also do a lot of work directly for SCT - we have been across the country training other SCT dealers showing them how to tune and conducting classrooms and dynotune days with them. I'm also co-author of SCT's 100+ page dealer's tuning manual and the Pro Racer Tuning manual. I'm working on the product documentation for the XCalibrator 2 this evening right now. We have one XCalibrator 1 flasher left that we will make a deal on also. Thanks! Don

I'm getting very tired of this crap from James and you. If James wants us to air his dirty laundry, so be it. But I have saved this thread and I will seek legal counsel - lies like this cannot be posted on public boards without consequences. Have a nice day.

My daughter is looking for a car like that - email your phone number to me at don@lasotaracing.com Hopefully you'll get this soon, because she is going car shopping tonight... Thanks, Don -
Sorry Charlie - It's easy for you to say 'No Hard Feelings' after you publically drug us through the mud. Can't say the same for myself though. Don't you have Email? Don't you have access to private messages? I AM saving this thread BTW. And if I remember correctly I gave you the option at the time of NOT buying the chip because the nitrous tune wasn't working, but you said you wanted it - we would have gladly chalked up the 2 1/2 hours we spent on your car to make you happy. Not too many shops will do that. I'll never tell a person who has an A/F trace like this (see below) that 'it's OK'. Can't do it. Someone told you it's safe - but that wouldn't be me. Maybe you think your car is running OK or maybe it's a time bomb, and I suppose there is the possibility that the company fixed the problem by now... http://home.columbus.rr.com/dlasota/dlasotaweb/nitrous.jpg

Hmmm... seems I read something on Stangnet a while back about the nitrous issue... hmmm... was posted by an '03Steed'.... http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=336469 The whole thread is good, but the interesting thing that '03Steed pointed out was (to quote): "I finally got in touch with NOS tech support and he confirmed there are issues with the system on returnless cars. What the tunner told me is right on according to them. He says they are working on a fix and are still selling the Noszle kit advertised for 96-04's. He says that even though theres a lean condition chances are its not lean long enough to hurt anything. But there is a CHANCE that it could break something." Charlie - if you had a problem, you should have called us, I heard nothing from you at all. Now you post in a public forum trying to ruin our business. I think we treated you with respect that day and gave you the best info we could from the best minds in the tuning world - I called Jerry and Chris during the tune and they said don't waste your time on it - it won't work right. Jerry's exact words were "you are f'ed" - and I've talked to him many times since and he hasn't said anything different. And it didn't work like he said, but we tried anyway. We did spend 2 1/2 hours trying to make it right - we could have just left the lean spike and let you go - in a 1/2 hour, but we diecided to let you know our concerns. Looks like that was a mistake. Because now you publically bash us. Another point, the SCT dealer's tuning manual specifically warns that wet kits like yours won't work right on retunless cars. If you are making you libelous statements based on what another shop has told you better hope they know what they are talking about. And you better have some good evidence when making public statements that would ruin a company. Just remember, sometimes other shops have an ax to grind. And I can probably can guess who it was that made the statement. Just look at his track record and choose your friends wisely is all I can say. Or keep reading plugs instead of wide bands and gamble with your motor - something we won't do. Looks like you knew that the manufacturer agreed with us - you said so yourself in that post, now you choose to bash us. Don

We already have the software to flash the '05's - modding the computer is no harder than the earlier cars. As soon as the aftermarket comes out with parts - you'll be able to mod them. My old combo went 11.1/123 on hyper pistons, so they are not THAT bad.... The sky is not falling.... LOL!!!

Wrong! If you get 3.73's you probably will bang the limiter on shifts - with 4.10's you will for sure. With 3.73's if you are making enough power you will, if your power is down a bit you won't. This is a fact - it's the way the EEC to is setup coupled with the speed the hydraulic processes can complete in the tranny. The other thing, all part throttle shifting is done based on MPH - if the MPH is not correct, and it won't be with gears, then part throttle shifts will be off too - maybe not real noticable, but they will be off. Two of them have no tread left, but are perfect for the track. Two have a little tread left and hook well also - I ran a 1.5 60' on these. Catch? There are two - you have to take all four and you have to come to Delaware to get them.

Cheeez! This is why I don't post here much anymore - I DIDN'T SAY IT WAS ILLEGAL - I implied the person he was posting about could sue him and probably win. Civil action does not equal criminal action - now I'll roll my eyes at you.

slan·der ( P ) Pronunciation Key (slndr) n. Law. Oral communication of false statements injurious to a person's reputation. A false and malicious statement or report about someone. These types of forums are great for free speech however, if you think you are immune from legal action for unfounded statements like yours, better think again - the first amendment does not protect you if you post something false that injures another party. And I feel that you have injured Creative Custom Choppers, with nothing to back it up. I know Kelly's shop and not ONE person has been unhappy with his work and anything he's done. He's one of the most honest, talented people I know. Then a 'person' like you decides to post some high school bullshit to ruin a person's livelihood. I suggest you edit your post at once. Have a nice day.

Bare block - it's a late model roller motor block that's bored 0.060 over - I know nothing else about it because I bought it used. It is clean and appears to have been decked. You have to pick it up... $250 Stock late model 351 Crank, taken out of a roller motor. It probably needs machine work. $100 Stock 351 rods out of a late model 351. They have useless pistons attached, but the rods themselves seem good. $50 Sell all for $375 - you pick up. email: don@lasotaracing.com
