I have not had either. Would love to try them. As for scotch, i like things like kavalan barrel proof single barrels (port, sherry, etc). But, i don't get oak. Also, for oaky scotch... I don't get the sweetness I yearn for in bourbon. oaky scotch is dry like oaky wine (for the one's i've experienced).

Speaking of “bourbon too old”. I am an oak whore. Most will say bourbon Is beat at about 8-10 years. And typically, to me, anything under 7 years tastes super young. And (also typically) anything under 8/9 years still tastes young to me. I have had plenty of wonderful 7-12 year bourbons. But I still chase things (that many would consider over-oaked) in that 14-20 year realm. That’s my sweet spot. I love that dark, oaky, dark fruit flavor. Just my opinion obviously, but the more in-tune my palate became, the more I could pick out the “youth” of the whiskey and was turned off. As a disclaimer, my palate is at the point where I can notice even the smallest nuances. I call it a natural curse of consequence. Not bragging.

Regarding Redbreast 27 While I haven’t had the 21, I have tried a couple of the younger ones. Which, were both “fine” as I recall. The 27 however, was very unique. It tasted like tropical lifesavers (pineapple/grapefruit/peach). Super unique.

It’s actually kinda common. The typical Armslist prowler is looking for a deal in their favor. Always trying to trade you something. And believes they are the smartest person in the world. And plenty of instances where they live in their own little world and crazy. Few things: Bernheim Original is straight wheat Whiskey. It’s not a “wheated bourbon”. Ancient age is the best/cheapest bourbon in existence. That, or JTS Brown BIB In the 20-30 range. WSR, Elijah Craig, rebel yell 100, 1792, old Bardstown, and old forester rye 100 are all great prospects. The best 30 dollar bottle used to be Henry McKenna 10yr. It’s not 50 and still worth it. Also, the lux row ezra brooks 7 year BP (117pf) is the best bourbon under 50 bucks. But.... in summary... you may have noticed.... or not.... a lot of what I touted came from Heaven Hill!!!
