  1. 1955 Ford Fairlane

this ex- drag car was purchased about a year ago, & virtually

nothing has been done to it since...it's never been

driven more than a few blocks & it's performance envelope

isn't known, we assume the thing will run like a monster if suspension

is corrected & engine is properly dialed-in..

these are the specifications to the best of our knowledge:

solid body & frame, no structural rust anywhere

it has an optional straight axle set-up that can be

installed for that authentic 60's "gasser look"

1968 FORD 428 CI, V-8 FE engine, surgically clean internally

possibly out of a Shelby Mustang, with Weiand valve covers

    T-10, 4 speed transmission with

Hurst "T" handle shifter with hydraulic clutch

because it was raced a few times, we assume it has a

positraction rear end, gear ratio is unknown

stainless steel exhaust pipes on stock cast headers

, glass pack muffs & wired for flame throwers

650 holly on CJ intake manifold with new street/strip

mechanical fuel pump & new regulator, also have

new electric fuel pump not installed

    Summit street/strip electronic distributor &

    new fat hi voltage wiring

    new (1) wire type alternator

big tires on deep chrome rims

    electric trunk

rough but solid interior, needs paint, carpet & seat covers

has tach, oil & temp gages

body needs minor filling , smoothing & paint job

car should be rewired & needs driver side window

also needs it's new front coil springs installed to make it

"streetable", because previous owner cut the originals

way too short...the new coil springs are included...

because the car needs suspension & wiring work it is not what you'd

call road worthy, & should be towed or trailered to it's destination...

sadly, the bad economy & a job loss has forced us to abandon our

great plans, before we even got started, for this street rod, which

was happy to be rescued from being hidden in the back of a dark

    garage for nearly 30 years...

what a great body style...this would make a, fantastic, head turning

street rod, similar to a 55 Chevy, but more unusual & refreshingly different

we are currently working to get the engine jetted to run properly etc...

the selling price has not been determined yet,...so if you'd like to

make an offer, do so in your email...

if interested please leave a message at:

    OriskanyBombs@...

we'll send you an email when the car is ready for prospective buyers to

schedule a viewing, hopefully in a week or two...

    thanks,

    Lee / Columbus Ohio

  2. My brother has a 1955 Ford Fairlane w/ a 1968 428CJ Ford engine stuffed in it...

He installed a new "Summit Racing" breakerless (no points) distributor in it, & now it won't make enough spark to fire up & run...

he says, he checked everything out & all seemed to be in order including the coil , ballast resistor, relays , wiring & TDC position when the startup was attempted...

so even thought the distributor is brand new, we suspect it may have been bad right out of the box...

anybody know where he can have the distributor bench tested for a reasonable cost?

    TIA, CR peeps...

We have had them done buy the guys that do a lot of NASCAR stuff in Tennessee, but we've been looking for somebody who is damn good & reliable to print & install wraps around the Columbus area...

  6. Basically, I need 3 components tested...

    the situation:

I went to Microcenter with shopping list of all the basic components to build a new comp from the ground up...

being it was my 1st build, I relied on their sales "expert", on the floor, to help me select compatible components that offered the biggest bang for the buck...ended up costing $700+ ....way over my budget!...

anyhow, in mid assembly, the build-up was suspended & shelved, because of a flooding event & a personal injury, so the stuff stayed in the closet for over a year...

well, realizing that the company that do commercial art for, may go out of business soon & that I might be forced into freelancing....I gathered up everything & took it to the 'systems guy' at work to finish it & tweak it for performance...

he did a partial build with all the essentials, but the damn thing wouldn't fire-up....no beeps...no reports ...no boot....nada

the power supply was is ok because all the fans, lights & hard disks spun up....

the 'systems guy' narrowed it down to 3 suspect components....

    1) the Asus 939 motherboard may be bad (doubtful)

    2) the Athlon 64 processor might be bad (possible)

    3) the 2 gigs of ram selected by the salesman, may be incompatible with the MB (highly likely) (they're not endorsed by ASUS)...I took these to MIcroCenter & they said they couldn't test them...are you kidding me...

my 'systems guy' doesn't have the equipment to test the stuff either...

so, to correct the problem, I need these 3 items tested so I know what to replace...so I can button it up, & start freelancing again...

& with my personal economy in the tank right now & all the time & money invested in the thing already...I'm trying to avoid getting my wallet sucked dry again or have a bad experience with a repairman...

  7. just curious....

ya never see these white-knuckle-buzzers on the road anymore...

are their any (micro monster) RD-350 freaks out there....

I may be selling a mid 12 second, cafe'd one, this summer...

    powerband 6000-10,000 rpms/denco stingers/car ignition/half race ported/tz racebearings/weisco oversized pistons 400cc/rear sets/inverted clubmans/left a lot of people in the grass on old 315....

  8. i was genetically predisposed to nicotine addiction...

started with camels, then pall malls, then worked my way down to benson & hedges 100's....

was doing at least 2 packs a day w/ minimum of 10 cups of coffee (on full boost all the time)...

first thing in the morning, my hand was reaching for the ciggs & zippo before opening my eyes....

made 6 strong but unsuccessful attempts to quit...

then after 30 years of puffin...my employer offered to go halfie's on a $600 cessation program...

it was called "full-life" smoke enders...

1 week of mental & diet prep...lifestyle & attitude changes....then shock treatment while shotgunning a brand of cigarettes you hate (like menthol)...

results: cold turkey...no cravings....no problems other than the smell of smoke had become so repulsive that my lungs resisted inhaling anywhere i encountered cigarette smoke...

i don't think the "Full Life" program is still in town anymore but if you are psyched up to the max...& find a program with a good prep phase & offers the shock therapy, i believe you'll have a real good chance of success...

    i went with a class of about 20 people...we had a 76% success rate....

    that was on march 7th 1989 at 7:20 pm....i haven't had a craving since...

    good luck dude!

  9. nope...not the cars, I'm talking about the US Air Force's incredible P-51 Mustangs of WW2...

There will be more than 60 of them at a huge "fly-in" at Rickenbacker on the weekend of September 27th-30th...+ other exhibitions like the USAF Thunderbirds Aerobatics team...

If you've ever heard an unlimited class hydroplane's V-16 then you know what these babies sound like cause it's the same engine...now multiply that by 50....

The "fly-in" is probably a once in a life time deal, for C-bus & there will never be this many Stangs assembled in one place again...

it's no wonder that the Hot Rod culture was started by fighter pilots returning from WW2....

  10. every year the Mopar Nats brings wild & crazy street action (becoming near legendary) to Heath Ohio because of it's close proximity to National Trails...

Does anybody know if similar aggressive cruising happens during the big Ford events or the Super Chevy Show that's ON at the Trails, all this weekend?...

If it's anything like the Mopar event...then Heath has got to be the place to be this Friday & Saturday night....

  11. a while back....I had an old , hard to find, rough, but solid, Cutlass project car, with good potential to become a nice ride someday...

that is until some frikkin illegal hit me head-on & wiped out the front end...

the azzhoze that hit me, barely spoke any English...had no operator's license....& of course, no insurance...the cop took the report....cited them...impounded their blazer & off they walked into the night...

    no justice at all....

I've pulled out of the culdusac where I live, several times a day , for 29 years & 2 months without incident...

then this idiot from another country 1000's of miles away, fails to yield the right of way not 50 yards from my front door & puts an end to a hobby I dearly love...

we need to get rid of these vegetables from outer space...

anybody else have a alien-collision adventure?...

    just venting...

  12. I have a set of 7"wideX15" rims...

the stock tires on them are 195-65-15's with an 8" wide contact patch to the road...

I'd like to know how much wider that 195, I can go, without distorting the sidewalls & maintain decent tread life...

is there a magic formula to calculate this?

    thanks,

    Lee / Columbus
