we'll be running the trailer jan/feb/ a little in march. My goal is to be setting up there and selling food from the trailer until the building is ready/inspected.I wanna say this is awesome news, but this means you'll never be up this way again . Anway, congrats, and we should setup some weekend CR meats there soon after. -
Hey guys I just wanted to give you a little update incase you don't follow me or the Smokeout BBQ facebook page. I've signed a 5 yr lease on on a spot in Pickerington just off of 70 and 256(1850 Winderly lane Pickerington, OH 43147)
We will have a drive thru, seating for 35ish, carryout and catering available. Once we open, I have decided to discontinue the food trailer for now. I'll share updates here as I have them. Our goal is to be open by the first weekend in April. Thanks for all your continued support.

As a business owner I'll say, don't jump into something because its sounds profitable. You have to tally your man hours and what your time is worth, to decide if it is truly profitable. Owning a business to do 150k with 50% "profit" but requires 50-60 of your man hours, isn't a profitable business.

My opinion has been shifted to SN95 with on3 turbo kit.
Doing that pricing/build currently their sn95 kit by time you add in the stuff to make it complete is about 3k.. would take a beat car to fit under the 6k cap. I'll be in 11/12k before I get done.

Should definitely be some mustangs in that range. I just spent roughly 750 on struts and springs to replace o.e. stuff from 94. 17" tires are getting to be a little dated, so I stepped up to 18s($1k) makes a whopping 245 whp/286 tq gets out of its own way, but isnt winning any races in this form. on3 is getting some of my money this winter. If you wanna drive a fairly clean example, you got my number

gotcha nice

already have 18" tires, or need the brake clearance? I'm going to sell the stock wheels off this 94 cobra they're 17s but clear 13" cobra brakes.

My neighbor bought a used 16 4 runner and said its anemic and painfully slow (he came from a v8 armada). I know you never mentioned fast, but you may want to drive a 4runner and see how painful it is(especially coming from a turbo diesel)

food was good-I wouldn't go there looking for quality BBQ but they had an expansive menu.

Makes sense. RE my towing thread, we'll all use the Jeep for now. My parents are still talking about getting a 3-5 year used truck, especially when/if they do a multi-month trip out west. It's great to hear real world experiences, especially since the weight you quoted on your new trailer is pretty close to what their camper should be loaded. They are still stuck in a mindset of needing V6's over L4's from when V6's had less power than most 4 cylinders do now. My dad was convinced he wants a 3/4 ton, but I think it's too much capability with no real benefit for them over a 1/2 ton but with downsides; rougher ride, higher cost, higher fuel consumption all of the time. So I'm trying to steer him towards a half ton since they are so capable now. But, I'm still torn about steering him towards something in the capability/towing range of the 2.7L ecoboost or more towards the 3.5L ecoboost level trucks. I think after they tow with the Jeep some they might want more margin, but I think he'll realize a mid-level capacity 1/2 ton will be enough.
you can get a 2.7 with a towing pkg and payload pkg thats rated for like 9600. a 3.5 is 2k more than a 2.7 on a new build truck.
-
Derek, I'm curious about the reason for the truck change, why go to the 3.5L or 2.7L? Just to make it easier to tow?
my 2.7 truck just had a $95 hitch option no support pkgs. 7200 limit and was going out of warranty.
3.5 towing pkg (not max tow) is rated for 10,500
daily not towing.. i feel little difference between the 2.7tt and 3.5tt

what engine in the F150? 2.7L? 3.5L? V8?
Those u-haul motorcycle trailers are heavier than they have a right to be. They tow like crap and the sheet metal sides are not aerodynamic. I towed one with my Jeep (4.0L I6) which normally gets 18-20 mpg highway and it got 12mpg. A V8 F150 probably won't feel it but a 2.7L probably will suffer, turbo or not.
my 18 f150 was a 2.7 turbo ecoboost and hauled 5200 lbs multiple times a week and didnt miss a beat. got 14mpgs towing 22.5/23 freeway unloaded/not towing..
my 3.5 ecoboost 2020 gets about 10.8 towing my 6600 lb meat wagon and around 21.5 unloaded/not towing
