  1. Sounds like you had a bad experience. i have to say I never had any problems with any of the Cannon's I owned. I paid $3000.00 for my 5D body when they first came out so that may be why too. I did have the 6mp Rebel when they first came out and I opened my photography business with that camera and it was a champ.
  2. I went through OPOTA but I could not find a job anywhere that paid what I wanted so I never did anything with it. So back to IT work.
  3. She may have to fight the wife for that one. I had every intention of doing the driving and handing it over to the kids when they get older. The wife called dibbs on driving the day we brought it home. I'm not so sure how she is gonna feel about that when its done though. Its gonna be a beast.
  4. The aerodynamics of the new 70 camaro bodies is really good which is why you are seeing more and more of them. Tommy actually hurt his neck in the monte carlo pretty bad and had to stop racing for a while and he was focusing on his new business which is the only reason he sold it. It has been gone for a little while now and he is all healed and his business is up and running so he has the fever again. The monte had a 632 with 2 stages of nitrous on it and James has a 615 with 2 stages. Tom and James are both wanting to run the ADRL Pro Nitrous category now so its off to bigger and better stuff. 700+ cubic inches and 3 stages. Its amazing how much it cost to go from running 4.20's in the 1/8 to 4.00's and 3.90's. The new car is at James's right now being built. Its gonna be at least a year before its done though. It took us over 2 years to do the Monte and the Grand Prix.
  5. I used to use them all the time. They are very good and priced well.
  6. I am thinking I am gonna give her a shot this weekend and let her decide if it is something that she is going to like. Now I have to see if I can deal with Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad, Hey Dad.
  7. Are you selling it to buy a Cannon?
  8. That is an awesome deal. I would not mind that at all.
  9. That is true to some degree. However if you start with a crappy camera then the best lens in the world will not help you. I was an event photographer specializing in Drag Racing and youth sports and Cannon is the camera of choice for sports. However I think that Nikkon's produce a really sharp image. My main camera was a Cannon 5D and it was just unstopable. With a 300mm L lens I could stand well past the 60ft cones at the track and get amazingly crisp photos.
  10. Its not that I am saying her helping with the car is not lady like. She has threatend older kids that she was going to beat them up and she beats up her older brothers and was just really rough. So we decided we needed to show her what being a lady was. My fear that if I let her in to this world then she would kind of go back to her old habbits. In all honesty she probably would be better than the boys at this but I am just kinda teetering on this one.
  11. Her mom is in the picture but she is wothless. Step mom (my wife) does a lot for her but they dont have anything special that just the two of them do. I dont have anything that just her and I do either.
  12. I agree. I think that if you get a ticket and you are found Not Guilty then the officer should be forced to pay it for giving you a ticket and wasting your time and money fighting something that you should not have to fight in the first place. Then the officer should automaticlly be personally resposible for reimbursing you for your time and money spent fighting the issue. There should be a 30 day limit that they have to pay you back and provide a public apology. I bet this would cut down on all the bullshit tickets real fast. Instead of them writting citations that they are unsure of and then leave it up to you to fight your way out of it they should be forced to use a little better judgment to begin with.
  13. I owned my own photography business for 5 years and I swear by Canon.
  14. Ok so here is my delima. So I have 4 kids 3 sons and a daughter. My sons are 13, 11 and 6 and my daughter is 7. Now as you can imagine my daughter is a little roougher than most girls. I think mainly because she is around all boys for the most part. So my wife and I have really tried hard over the last year to make her more of a lady and less of a tom boy. So I started this Camaro project with the boys to hopefully teach them something. The boys are really in to it. So far they have been working late nights in the garage and are starting to pick things up. Its pretty cool to see your kids picking parts out of the Jegs catalog. Anyway my problem is that since we started this project my daughter has had to watch this bonding I am doing with the boys. She has been begging me to let her help with the car and I have been trying to keep her from it because I am afraid she will go backwards on all that we have worked with her on. What are your guys take? Should I involve her and let her help or should I keep this between the boys and I.
  15. I went from IHRA Pro Stock racing and Top Sportsman racing to motorcycles and then to nothing for about the last 5 years. I literally spent 10 years of my life at race tracks all over the country. I realized how much I was missing at home and just stopped one day. I realized how much other stuff was out in the world besides Drag Racing and all that I was missing. I still watched every race on tv but only went to the track about 5 or 6 times in that time frame. Well my kids are a little older and can help me now so we are building a car now. Its like I was never gone for all those years. I went to the ADRL race this weekend and seen all of my old friends and did a lot of catching up and it was really nice. I miss it so bad and I am glad I am back. This time I have a whole team with me. The wife and our 4 kids .
  16. Here are a couple shots of our stuff. Took us 2.5 years to do build this one. We sold this car towards the end of 2006. We are building a 70 camaro like the one in the 2nd pic down to replace the monte. http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg203/jallen_100/1.jpg http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg203/jallen_100/IMG_2675.jpg We bought a Tim McAimis chassis kit for this car. Other than a pile of pre-bent bars we built this car during the same time we did the Monte Carlo. My buddy James still races this one. http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg203/jallen_100/tn_BGW_1436.jpg
  17. I'm with ya there. Those heavy hitters are what brings money to our sport. Money follows money.

  19. Race summary http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=189796#indextop
  20. 1/4 mile racing is a lot of fun to watch but wathcing a 10.5 car run 3.99 in the 1/8th is plenty of excitement. Not to mention that the 2nd half of that 1/8 just eats parts when your trying to run that fast. We raced Top Sportsman with a lot of the guys that are running the ADRL now and I can tell you first hand that almost all of them prefer the 1/8th mile racing.
  21. It is insane how many cars they have. Must be nice to be able to do what they do.
  22. I went Sat also but I left as they were running 1st round of the bikes. I am sunburned so bad that I had to get out of the sun. I was there for 11.5 hours on Friday. My own stupid fault. I didnt use any sunscreen. Everyone warned me but I did'nt listen. I said I am at the track all the time and I can handle the sun. Well this is the first time I have been to the track this year. So needless to say everyone got a good laugh at my expense and I look like a mis between a raccoon and a tomato because of my sunglasses. Geez getting old is a bitch. Or maybe just my stupidity is. Either way it sucks .
