As many of you know, this event is way different from just about any other race. Grudge racing at the track has become extremely popular as of late, as racers realize they have a safer venue to race without fear of the cops chasing them or all of the spectators away Petey from the dotnetboyz put this race together, offering a pretty substantial payout - $4000 to the winner and $1100 to the runnerup. The timing system was completely off, racers left on an armdrop and a spotter was at the top end calling the winners. There was no track prep besides getting rid of the water that mother nature dumped on it the night before. I overheard the people at the front gate saying there were 184 spectators at the event -- pretty damn good for a weekday!!!
Round 1
First up was Rockin' Rob Cherkas vs. Jeff AKA krylonkiller. Jeff had Rob, but got loose and made a move to the left, crossing the center line, and finishing the race in Rob's lane. Next up was Petey vs. Frank Vargas (Cheech). Cheech was in the right lane, the car made a move to the right and he cut the wheel to the left sending him almost completely sideways towards the left wall, at the very last minute he cut the wheel right and the car nailed the wall on the whole driver's side. Frank was all right but took a trip to the hospital to be on the safe side, unfortunately it looks like the car is junk. After the cleanup, Ray (2muchboost) and Frank (sick1) lined em up, Frank taking the win. Sam in the S-10 was up next against a big name in Drag Radial racing, Scott Bitzer. Scott's bu sailed on down the track after the armdrop for the win. Finishing up the round was Dave Acker vs. Jay Mac, Dave taking the win.
Round 2
Jay Mac was brought back in the game to even the field. Scott Bitzer lined up against Petey, and to everyone's surprise, Petey got the win against the tough Drag Radial car. Just goes to show that anything can happen. Rockin' Rob ran it out against Jay Mac and took the win, putting him in the semis. To finish up the round, Zeus/Dave Acker's car could not make the call so Frank made a full blown pass anyway and took the bye.
Round 3
Petey ran Frank, and Petey won, putting him in to the finals of his very own race Rockin Rob' took the bye run to get to the finals.
Finals
Petey vs. Rockin Rob. Rob was late on the arm drop (he later admitted he needs to hit some Pinks events to get used to it) and Petey took off on him. Rob's car is fast but not that fast, he was not able to drive around Petey and Petey took home the cash.
