  1. I just got a Kiwi3 that's pretty highly-rated (pretty much all of the few negative reviews involve the software). It connects to your phone via low-energy Bluetooth, so the Wifi connection is free to control my GoPro. I use ForScan to connect, instead of the PLX app.

You're in a better spot for those kinds of things if you have an Android phone, because I imagine it costs a lot more for a developer to get their devices certified for Apple compatibility, so the Apple-compliant ones always cost a lot more. Pretty much any $15 dongle will work with Android.

  2. Casey Putsch (the guy famous on here for wrecking his Viper GTS on 33 in Dublin, but otherwise the guy who runs genius garage) has a 1989 Michael Keaton turbine powered batmobile that he built. It was parked at Toy Barn for a while, I took my kid to see it. Casey lives here in Cbus.

Casey is the guy that owns the Lykan Hypersport, too. He's had it out to Mid-Ohio a time or two.

Although Genius Garage is in Bowling Green, though, right?

  3. Focus ST is attached to the grille, so no plugs are necessary. Took it off last night.

Bullitt has never had a front plate; it was purchased in Indiana. I wasn't about to add one.

Cougar had an aftermarket bracket installed when I replaced the bumper cover many years ago, so that came off yesterday, too; no muss, no fuss.

MINI? Who cares. It's a beater.

  4. Cool thanks. I’m looking for one with image stabilization for my sons kart. They vibrate and bounce like crazy.

Aw man, I'm sure it's nauseating on a kart. It does fine on anything with a suspension, LOL.

Here's the last video I used it for, 2 weeks ago:

  5. Selling my GoPro, if anyone is looking for a good entry-level cam. It's a GoPro Hero+ LCD; I've been using it for 2-3 seasons now with no problems whatsoever.

All the features of this model are shown in the photos, direct from the box, and all the parts are there, in the original package. I can go all day at an event and use far less than half the battery life, so it's plenty robust in that respect. I'm including a 32GB memory card, too, so it's really everything you need; I think it estimates over 2 hours of footage to fill that.

I'm upgrading to one with a removable battery and GPS capability, so I have no need to keep this one.

These sell for $200 on Amazon brand new; asking $100. Shoot me a message if you have any questions.

  6. These are cool for what they are, but nothing crazy. My first car was 5 speed non-SVT Contour, so I did a lot of reading on the SVT stuff but never did drive one.

Back in the day the way to go was the 3.0/SVT hybrid motor. Basically a run of the mill 3.0 Taurus "vulcan" block from a donor to use the SVT 2.5 heads and top end as I recall. When I sold mine somebody had figured out how to convert it to coil on plug ignition also, which was neat.

The hybrid build uses the 3.0 Duratec (not a Vulcan) from a Taurus SES, preferably an 04-05 model, and 2.5 heads for a smaller combustion chamber/higher compression.

That's the same build I have in my autocross Cougar; makes 200 to the wheels (the non-SVT 2.5 Duratecs make about 145) which is fun in a car this light and this analog and front-wheel drive. Haven't done the COP conversion as of yet.

Yeah, rust is the killer for the Contour in this region. Southern or west-coast cars are the way to go, if you're looking for one. They're out there, you just have to travel to find a solid one.

  7. I’m a recent convert to Michelin. Put Pilot Sport 4S on the Bullitt (only driven in the summer), and Pilot Sport AS3+ on the Cooper S (driven year-round) this year. Really top-notch performance all around from both.

Apply for a discount tire credit card, and wait until a good rebate hits. Good deals can be had. And their credit card is 6 months interest free. Really cuts down on the sticker shock.
