New law that will probably be passed....stop light cameras
rambo76098 replied to baron_'s topic in Passing Lane
Here is why I dislike cameras... In Virginia, Injury accidents went down 5 percent in one intersection but up between 6 and 89 percent in all others. Also, Cameras were associated with an increase of between 31 percent and 54 percent for rear-end crashes overall. -Virginia Transportation Research Council According to the Florida Public Health Association, the use of red light cameras leads to increases in insurance rates, profits, and injury accidents. The number of collisions increased 58 percent after cameras were introduced at the twelve intersections.. Injuries increased 64% and property damage claims between 60% and 113% -Winnipeg Audit Department In D.C.: Accident Type 1998 2004 Change Broadside 81 106 +30% Fatal/Injury 144 262 +81% Overall 365 755 +107% Also In D.C., camera-free intersections had a 64% increase in accidents overall, a 54% increase in fatal and serious injury accidents, and a 17% rise in t-bone collisions. -Washington Post (known as the "halo effect") Increasing duration of yellow lights for one second resulted in a 40% decrease in accidents. -Texas Transportation Institute Shorter yellow lights are likely the cause for 80% of red light camera violations. -Office of the House Majority Leader Also, Improving signal visibility reduced violations 25% Lubbock, TX shut down their ticketing program after they discovered it was costing them money. I have a ton more statistics if you really want them, these are just a few specific studies. Red light cameras are not implemented for safety, they are there to make money. There are a ton of other ways to improve safety and reduce the number of accidents/violations. -
That's retarted... wouldn't it be quicker to have another train right behind it then spending over a minute trying to literally squeeze everyone in?

That's fine that they didn't want to buy it because it would be hard to sell, they can just say that they have too many of those already, not lowball them. They traded it in to some other big dealer in town for 10k when they bought a different car, which they were looking to do at Carmax, but that killed the sale right there. (Carmax offer was $4500) Also, when I was looking at Carmax before, they had a transfer program that if you found a car that you liked at another location, you paid Carmax's transfer fee and they would move it to the location of your choice. As far as comparing cars, I mean same year/make/model/trim/condition/~mileage/options. Mustang "A" is at Carmax and is a 2000/Ford/Mustang/GT/Good/82k miles/xx options. Making up numbers since it was almost two years ago since I priced Mustangs, let's say Carmax wanted $10,000. Mustang "B" is at another full size dealer and is a 2000/Ford/Mustang/GT/Good/80k miles/same options and the dealer had it for $6000, which (again, guessing) the KBB for these two cars is roughly $6000. That's what I meant... Glad to hear Carmax worked out well for some of you. I'm sure stranger things have happened, I just wanted to warn people about what I've experienced and one of several of the stories that I've heard from people I know personally...

Sucks for that guy... At least he was fine...

Little JB weld and some buffing and it'll be as good as new  Lol, that does suck, is there really a recall for sticking gas pedals? I know my dad's really old cougar would do that because the motor would shift under hard acceleration and move the motor, pulling the cable...

Welcome... I really like that Legacy...

Cops are complete hit and miss in the Columbus area. The only times I got pulled over were both in the same week, one from driving through a closed intersection, the other for "68" (Cruise was set at 65, GPS verified) in a 55 at 3am after missing the exit to 270 on 161, and right after the speed limit changed. Got verbal warnings for both. So that was the hit part. The miss part: My car got hit in the parking lot of work (Pickerington) by a motorcycle. Filed a police report, and the dumbass that hit me hit me hard enough to leave a lot of parts of his motorcycle in the parking spot/attached to my car. From the parts we knew the make, model, year, paint code, and county it was registered in. I even remembered seeing the guy walk in and found him and the people he was with on the security tapes. Cops did absolutly nothing. Best part was my insurance which was supposed to cover it under uninsured/underinsured motorist protection did not. It even had a clause in the policy "If the insured vehicle is legally parked and unoccupied, any damages will be covered", bla bla bla, and followed by a clause that says that the insuree will not have to pay the deductable, it will also be covered. WTF? We almost immediately switched from allstate to Geico. Insurance agent was also a doosh and got into a 30min debate with my mom about politics, which she told me she felt "battered" after his tirade about whatever the hell he was going on about. Dumbass. Stay away from Jim Nugent with Allstate in stoneridge on Morse if you are looking at insurance... (Off-topic, I know ) Edit: I fail at spelling

Is it just me or was he not brake-torqueing? I wonder if that's why he snapped both axles...

Sexy and fast... It's a win win! -
That's messed up... There must have been a ton of people horribly inconvenienced by having to walk around it at 5:30 AM...

Ohio's custom plates are gay. Most of the other states you pay once for the plate itself and then after that the fees are the same as if you had a standard plate. Wtf Ohio?

Took me a few tries to get the first one... It's hard to judge since it doesn't show the slope visually that well...

I would have found one in columbus if I hadn't seen it when I was packing after being in Costa Rica/Nicaragua for 2 weeks. It was not a whole lot bigger than that one...
