  1. my dad called about 10 minutes ago and told me about it. He said he has a CD with a ton of pics from all 3 (Sidney, Kettlersville and Van Wert) and he thought there was a webite that had all of the same pics. Had you ever been to any of them? If I find the links I'll post them... I remember some of the cars in the pics on the link you attached.... I must be old......
  2. To all of the old/er drag racers:

I am looking for the addresses for some old drag strips in Ohio. The two I am having trouble with are Kettlersville Dragway near St.Marys Ohio and Sidney Dragway. I spent nearly all of my Saturdays and Sundays during the 70's at these tracks and it would be cool to know what happened to them. At one point I lived 30 miles from Van Wert Dragway, and oddly enough, the tower, starting line and partial saging lanes were still there when I went by on the way to the in-laws in May. My dad thought that Sidney ended up a rock quarry( it had some big holes on the property already) and had no clue about Kettlersville. I would love to make a road trip if anything still exists....

  3. very nice. My kid wants to paint our 3rd Gen Camaro something close to that purple and some black.

FYI... AJ is the Director of Coolness at UFOA, he can get you in, but it's not cheap..... it's a very secretive society.... non-gearheads need not apply

Fragging is part of the welcome process here......

  4. Sounds like it may need a "quick learn". Any of the trans shops can do it, or anybody with trans software for their scan tool. It will re-learn all of the parameters and clean up the gear changes. If you think it's in the tq converter, you can hold the throttle steady at 40 or so and lightly step on the brake pedal, just enough to turn the brake lights on. That will drop it out of lock up. It that cures it, I'd start in the ignition if it hasn't been tuned up in awhile. When my wife's 99 did what your describing, I added a bottle of limited slip additive from the GM dealer. It cured it, but hers was over 45mph. The lining on the TCC clutch gets hard, and causes the shudder. The additive softens it slightly. These trannys were pretty good after 1999, but they still have problems like anything else.
  5. I'd listen to AJ. he's one of them smart kids....

vehicle weight, rear gear, cam, etc..etc.. all play a huge part in what the converter stalls/flashes. Knowing what your peak torque and hp numbers are will help the converter guys hit the stall right, the first time. A 4000 stall in your 3200 pound street car with a 3.42 rear gear will not flash the same as a 4000 stall in a 3000 pound car with less motor and more rear gear. As the combination changes, so does the stall. When you call the converter guys, ask about sprag options. High HP cars will kill a standard sprag real quick. We broke the one in the race car in about 4 auto-x laps. Ask lots of questions, and have all of the data I mentioned above. It will help you get the right one....

  6. I run Valvoline VR1 in our race motor, becuase it has a VERY high level of zinc. I don't have to worry about extended high oil temps like the RR guys do. If we were, I'd run the Amsoil 20w-50 and add zinc. The only problem I see with the "synthetic" race oils is the additive packages. In a pushrod motor like mine, low zinc is what kills the valvetrain. Some of the oil "treaments" are just a blend of zinc and other moly products.

    Just my 2 cents....
