  1. No... its slicker then snot on a door knob. It’s actually the part of the track that’s never been driven on before, quite crazy. While it’s in this configuration that back track isn’t usable. I don’t think it takes more than 30 minutes to reconfigure the tracks if they needed too.
  2. GP Karting recently (Tuesday Sep 30) made a slight change to the front track an how it’s being run. They’ve added a ‘peanut’ or ‘kick-out’. So if you look at the track map, were running in the direction as if it is ‘super-track’, entering the pits at ‘bottom’ and exiting at ‘top’. So with that said you run the yellow track and make the transition to the blue track making a right turn instead of the normal left for the ‘super-track’. That right turn puts you back on the yellow track and heading down the long straightaway. With the one session I got last night I would say I was carrying 5 mph more in to the hairpin turn next to kart maintenance. It really changes the dynamics of the track and you really have to adjust your line coming out of the left hander heading to the blue track to set up that corner. http://gpindoor.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Track-Map.jpg So if you haven’t been out in a while you should stop by. Also worth mentioning EVERY weekend in Oct will be ‘super-track’.
  3. I wish I could have been standing there when this guy said “I’ve got an idea...” http://bringatrailer.com/2014/08/19/flat-twelve-home-built-subaru-powered-porsche-91710-canam-tribute/
  4. No insight here for the dogs, sorry. With that said TMO should know. There should be an relocation office on base. I was active 6 years in the USAF and still serve in the Reserves. I always told myself if I got orders to Japan would buy a older muscle car in good shape, doesn’t matter what could be a Mustang, Camaro, Firebird just to take it over there to sell it to make big $$$. Then take that money you would make and buy you something special over there you can’t find here. I’m a big Subaru fan so I would go something down that route.
  5. It did. Approaching the middle part of the slick section the ‘horse shoe’ if you will, I got much better. Treating that as a single turn where you ark it through is the way to go. As always, getting it straightened out sooner the better, which doing that allowed me to. I think I was faster at the entry of the slick section but I would need another Kart in the area to base something off of to be sure. To be honest I think I was giving up too much on entry. Cause I damn near got run over on entry once but I don’t know if that Kart was just dive bombing or was on an actual line. Then the next turn I broke too hard and lost it and was running alone again. So didn’t get a good gauge.
  6. Dam it was a blast last night. This time I was able to get in three sessions in a row and my fastest was a 1.01.840. Also running with rich awesome, good clean fun it was. Something worth mentioning is GPK has decided to pull the employees off of the ‘Fastest’ boards. So we will not longer show on the Fastest of the Day, Last 7 Days or month boards.
  7. I echo what the two above me have said. My scenario is just like suppliciums but I got the flakes down quicker so their hanging tough. I love how it looks and I have four years on it now with very minimal peeling. What peeling there is has been caused by turning the tires before you start moving. Two things when doing this. One, don’t have any leftover, lay it as thick as possible, if you can judge it apply extra where your tires will be(I wish I would have done this). Two, buy the biggest roller you can find. I was able to barrow one of those 2 foot long rollers and it made easy work of applying it.
  8. Tomorrow July 2nd is another 'super' track day.
  9. I did finally get on the track. It was awesome. I really hope they keep the back track slick. It is SUCH a challenge and a nice change of pace. So I got one shot at it and never really got a clean lap but was able to put up a 1:04.7xx. I would have loved to go out a couple more times but it wasn’t in the cards. It was great talking to the both of you again last night!
  10. I worked last night, wasn’t able to do the timing thing we've been talking about. We were just busy enough to prevent me from doing it. I did find out there is one kart out there that has a 'fresh' set of tires on it. I would guess that is the kart that both kent and steve used to put down the 34.0xx I got one shot at the track last night and it wasn’t in the kart with fresh tires. I put up a 34.974, sadly that isn’t even good enough for top 15 anymore. I happy that I got down in to the 34’s but will need to shave off another 2 tenths to get in the top 10. It isn’t much but the more and more these numbers come down, the harder it will be to find that next tenth. Guess that’s the challenge. **EDIT** Just remembered this... I did find out last night that next Wednesday they are planning on running the BIG track for the first time. It’s a 1/2 mile in length and from I am told is the largest indoor track in the USA and third largest in the world. It should be a hell of a time as the ‘jr’ track or the ‘back’ track whatever you call it hasn’t been ground down and hasn’t had ANY racing on it. To say it’s going to be slick is a gross understatement. It should allow the people with real talent to shine.
  11. Dear god! What's the top time right now? See all it needed was heat and time.
  12. I stopped by briefly on Friday and they were experimenting with new tire pressures and as Mojoe said it Kent put down a 35.9xx. Where his best before that was a 36.6xx I believe. So I’m saying the new tire pressures are working. I work Wednesday of this week so I’ll try something to figure out the weight difference we were talking about. No a session is based on the first car out of the pits. We ‘start’ the session while the karts are in the pits, but the countdown doest ‘trigger’ until the first kart trips the timer at the exit of pit road. They then have 8 minutes to give it hell. Of course the faster you are the more laps you get. My math could be wrong but with a 35.9xx average lap time you should get almost 13 laps in an 8 minute session.
  13. I might be able to figure something out next time I close... Just thinking out loud here... but I could get one kart take it to the back straight and using the cracks in the cement do a couple of digs with three different drivers all different weights... Then with a stop watch see what the time is from Point A to Point B. It would be rudimentary but I think would be the start/base of giving us an idea as to what to expect… Thoughts?
  14. Really? I haven’t been to their facebook page yet... Last night the track had TONS of grip. I went from looking like a fool (least to me I did) by braking way too early to now only applying the brake in one spot on the track. Even in that one spot it’s for a micro second just to get the kart around. I’ll have to try not breaking at all and see where it gets me tonight. And on my lap time, I weight 210lbs and used a random kart that had been run all day long and was able to put up a 36 so the claims there isn’t any grip is unfounded. Now before the grinding I would have agreed but each day the track is getting better and better the more rubber we put down. I went from running 38’s to 37’s and now in the 36’s, there is grip there you just have to know how to drive.
