  1. There were some reasons for this, but obviously SRT always wants to give the "full off" option. The Jeep never got full off.

Do you find the ESC intrusive? Do you get into ESC often when you're driving? Why do you need to turn it off?

Ehh I guess not during normal driving, but when auto xing I would rather have a "un-nanny'd" car. Not that I do much of that either. The traction control part of it is really anoying, the stability part is only slightly anoying when you dont want it there. I understand it serves a purpose and must come on the car, but I rather a car doesnt kick you in the dick when you get outa line.

  2. The Caliber SRT4 has a 2.4L world engine. (Blocks shared with Hyundai and Mitsu) I would really like to see someone take a CSRT4 engine and put it in the Genesis coupe. (Or at least use the cranks and build a stroker.)

This would be something to see

It had nothing to do with the traction/stability control. Traction/stability control only controls excessive wheel slip, it doesn't exacerbate torque steer on high mu surfaces. Now, without the LSD the car was given a function in the traction control that uses the brakes to transfer torque (BLD - brake limited differential). If you install an LSD in your car, you may want to turn this off, if the LSD allows enough slip across the axle that would put you across the BLD thresholds. Otherwise, if the wheels spin up together, you will never get into BLD so it's no worry. I could tell you a lot about how the stability control is tuned, considering I did most of it (my co-worker did the traction control).

All I know is I wish they would have made the 08's like the 09's where you can turn off stability control completely with the stock switch, in the 08's you can only turn off the traction control with the button, but the stability control is still on. So in order to disable the stability control and traction control you have to either own a scan guage with the option to disable or pull the fuse, both of wich also disable the abs wich is stupid. it would be nice to turn off the crap you dont want and leave abs with comes in handy.

  3. I dont understand why they had so many problems with LSD either, there are two options available now and have been for some time for after market LSD for the CSRT, Phantom grip makes a centrifugal version, and another company makes a true mechanical LSD. From what I understand is it wasnt so much of a dangerous torque steer problem, but more of a "we cant make it work with our crappy stabillity program. Because even with the phantom grip LSD in my car I have to disable the traction control/stability control with a scan gauge.
  4. ok so 215-230 underated hp, if they underated the neon im sure they underated the hp on the cali. 29xx lbs of the neon vs 32xxlbs of the cali if every 100lbs is equivalent to 10hp then the difference is only 300lbs=30 hp there is a difference of 55 hp from even the later nsrt's. 6spd of the cali vs 5 speed of the neon. I have played with a few neons while it was close everytime I was still in front. Im not trying to get into a who's car is faster cause I could honestly care less.
  5. If u seem confident then I've got a neon.....

Where did you get this info? The SRT4 and Caliber SRT have both been extensively road tested and nowhere have I ever seen the Caliber as the faster of the two. Not saying that there hasn't ever been one that was faster, but it'd be an exception to the rule at this point.

All im sayin is a STOCK NSRT4 is factory rated 215hp, a stock CSRT4 is factory rated at 285hp. thats all im sayin. Im not sayin my stage one mini van is faster then pauls stage wtf? neon.

  6. Get the Csrt4 an let me drag you down 270 or the track with a regular SRT4 :D

Oh and a productive post ide pass on it.. I drove one was eeh. An this coming from a regular srt owner

Wierd cause stock for stock the caliber is faster than a neon... if modded the same way the cali is still faster. Plus I can roll my back windows down with out breakin my arm:lolguy:

  7. one of the things that drew me to the caliber srt was the low production # just over 5000 produced world wide, which is why you dont see to many of them. Granted its low production # was because they didnt sell well. But I like the fact that you dont see a bunch on the road everytime you drive it. I see every other late model turbo compact everytime I drive to work, that bugs me.
  8. I agree with most on here, both have ups and downs, the AWD of a suby is hands down very nice to have, I have a 08 caliber srt-4 while its nice and puts some nice power to the ground traction is its weak side, because there is none. BUT for the price comparison, I got my 08 with 30k for 14 out the door. You wont find a suby for that price, but it all depends on what you want and what you need, and how deep your pockets are. I personally didnt want to spend the money on a suby, I like them alot but wanted something semi cheap, good on gas but fun to drive and I still wanted to be able to feed the mod habit as well. I needed something that was "kid freindly" because of having my first child, and at the time I owned a single cab truck, so I had to have a four door car, and wanted a "sport wagon". I also looked into the mazda speed 3's (not the new ones) and again for the price you couldnt beat a cali. But as some stated before the build quality of the srt4's are no where near as nice as the other cars mentioned. But lets face it the srt4 line up was never meant to be a quality built car, hell the neons had crank back windows with power fronts, and had more problems then an old DSM car.... The srt4 lineup is meant to be cheap and fast, and it does that well. But if its a solid feel you want then dont buy a srt4. Just my .02.
  9. Ok so apperently I suck, and did not post my intro correctly, so here is my

2nd attempt. I own a 08 Caliber SRT4 and live in pickerington, car mods are Stage 1 and full bolt ons, its sunburst orange. Next post will have a pic or two. Thanks guys, look forward to talking to you now that I might get some rep.
