  1. That advise comes from Subaru, I'm sure the guy would love to sell me a pump at $200 he had it in his hand, went to the trouble of pulling it off the shelf and then asking how many miles were on my car then said if it were him he would not change the pump. He said they almost never change the water pump at the first timing belt change. Always at the second. He said the only time they change it for the first timing belt is if it is leaking. Told me to come back if it's leaking, he always has the pump in stock. Thanks for the input though. Truthfully if the motor goes bye bye, I will be happy. Built motor will be put in, and larger Turbo, injectors and Larger IC, Then my second tune. :bangbang:
  2. I think CSCC will be closed tomorrow because tomorrow is my day off. FML
  3. Well I grabbed a timing belt while I picked up my bracket today, they told me to see if the pump is leaking and if it isn't then change it on the 2nd change of the timing belt. So I'll let it ride. I only have 80k so it's about 25k early for the timing belt but might as well since all that stuff will be out of the way. Here I thought everyone else always has smooth installs. Didn't even occur to me. Thanks guys, so now this thread fails.
  4. With all the weather and it's pretty boring around here, here's a good laugh. Yes so in my attempt to play in the snow Friday I developed a hole in a Coolant hose. Yea! Fixed that for $15 Saturday, pulled the car out of the driveway and found my Power Steering was not working. Figured out to change the clamps and flush fluid to try to fix it. Well here is where I started my multiple failures in life. I get everything tightened up and go to reattach the line to the pump and I grab the wrong screw and bottom it out on the pump and it snaps off. DOh! So long story fast forwarded, can't get the screw out and I need a new pump. Ordered it. So yesterday I go out and I might as well take the pump off and have it ready for the new one to go in. This was a mistake. I try to take it off with out removing the coolant hose I just replaced, (it sits right in front of the pump) I try, no go. So I go to remove the hose again. Get one end off and go to get it off the radiator and well I am working it off and SNAP my second failure, I SNAP the top of the radiator off with the hose. DOH! Go order Radiator. SO now I can get the pump out easier, should have stopped, but no, not me. I get all the bolts out that I can see. The pump sits in a bracket that attaches also to the alternator that is adjustable so tension can be applied to the belt. I can't get this out, I can't see any other bolts so I think (another stupid thing of me to do) that maybe it's just stuck since it's 5 years old. So I tap on the bracket with a hammer and well, of course it cracks it where the alternator attaches. SO I then find one last bolt behind the pump buried behind and under some wires and vacuum lines. Remove it and the pump falls forward breaking the rest of the bracket off where it cracked. SO now I order the bracket. So let's tally: hole in hose starts - $15 to replace + coolant New pump $150 New radiator $160 + coolant New Bracket $65 New belts since they are past due to be replaced $35 And Now since there will be nothing in the way of the Timing belt once I get the radiator out, I am kicking around the idea of replacing the water pump and Timing belt that will be due in about 20k miles. I wonder what else I will break doing that if I decide to tear into that? I really think I should do the timing belt and water pump so I don't have to tear into it for a long while. Let's here the how bad of a failure I am. And should I let the Timing belt go so when it lets go, I can just drop in a built engine in 30k miles?
  5. Say what? My mobile me works perfect on any Wi-Fi.
  6. I say when there is a new relevant band to pick. Today's bands fucking blow.
  7. That place is a curse. I blew the Hose, easy fix. In the process of removing the hose and replacing because Byers had it in stock on Saturday for $15 I must have bumped the power steering lines and loosened them. So I was sucking in air to the Power Steering system. So looked it up online on IWSTI.com (comomn issue at my milage and having work done in the area) and they said to replace the o-ring in the top of the pump and switch out the pressure hose clamps for screw type ones. Then bleed the system by raising the front wheels off the ground and turning them from lock to lock. Got everything all tightened up with new clamps and went to reconnect the top line with the 10mm bolt and SNAP it fucking broke off the head. I can't get the fucker out. So now it's off tomorrow to buy a new pump (it could have been bad too, I was attempting this to see if it would work without replacing the pump), and well I might as well change the belts while i'm at it because it's time and one has to come off anyway. SO it has gone from a $15 fix to now likely $300-400 fix. Yea! At least I know I can do it and I don't have to take it to Subaru. It's just too cold to be doing this shit right now.
  8. 5 min of snow blowing and I was back in a warm house. Meh, I'd just have a bigger snow blower if I lived in Cleveland.
  9. :ninja: you gotta be handy with the steeL, earn your keep, if you know what I mean. REGULATORS! mount up.
  10. I thought you wore one around all day every day?
  11. Stillman had a tow rope I think.
  12. Anyone know if a Subaru parts at any dealer will be open tomorrow? Anyone work for either byers, or hatfield?
  13. I did have to clear the "plow" out on the front of the car. LOL
  14. It's in the snow drag thread, blew a radiator hose, nursed it home, $14 hose and the easiest to replace on the car.
  15. Allright Brian I was out tonight and was offically baptized in with the fucking car geting broke. I guess I'm in the 1% for 2010. I have offically attended more CR functions than waiting in line at the Apple store as I have NOT been there in 2010 YET.
  16. Yep blew the top radiator hose, I have been smelling some coolant lately and was wondering where it was comming from. Must have been a small hole that got much bigger. Hose is $14 at autozone. Meh, easy fix. I was able to get 2 10mm bolts off and the the hose duct tape it for a ride home. Anthony, I did stop at the speedway on 310 and 70 for some 50/50 coolant, filled it and the overflow and it took half a bottle. Made it home and the guage never left normal. I'm kinda mad I got all the way out there and had no runs. That was some fuckin deep wet ass snow though. LOL The Jeeps were having fun. Oh and Anthony's truck is kick ass in that shit. I couldn't keep up with him driving out there. Hell I got sideways on 40 in some deep stuff right before we got there.
  17. Dude you are dreaming if you think you get 10% of CR at meets. That's over 600 DIFFERENT members.
  18. You may get in trouble this time of year with Anthony if you put me in the oven. I still have some work to do.
  19. Just pick 50 members then and have your little clique I guess.
