  1. I am not going to argue ethics or options with this topic. To each his own. This thread is kind of like going to work and talking politics or religion, you just should not do it. This a where people who ride bikes get together. When a thread starts out with someone asking a general question about a topic and then people start to chime in with thier opinions on the same topic without answering the original question, that is when things go wrong and feeling get hurt.

Now as for where to go hunt, if you do not have any access to private land there are quite a few quality public hunting lands to choose from. Here locally you should spend time at Alum Creek on the northeast side. Deleware state park is real good also.

Now as for my opinion. I have hunted for a long time, started as a youngster. Polished my skills while hunting animals of another breed while in the Marine Corps, but now prefer to bowhunt for whitetail deer along with waterfowl hunt in the later part of winter. I hunt because I like to be out in the woods and watch the sun come up and go down. It is not about killing, I have had some of my best hunts when I have never got to loose an arrow or pull the trigger. Hell I have more respect for most of the game I hunt and hopefully get to consume than I do most humans I meet. That being said I would hate to have someone judge another person based only on thier posts to a web site without meeting them face to face first.

  2. Gotta go with the half-asian chicks... Whether it's half-black or half-white n' asian... somehow it ALWAYS works... Biracial chicks in general almost always end up hot for some reason...

:plus1: me loves the sweet asain delight :D

It is kind of like math, two positives equal a positive, two negatives equal a positive but a positive and a negative get a negative.

  3. I think that a lot of people who read the posts were turned off by it and have decided not to ride for some reason or another.

I am kind of in that boat. Plus there is another ride with people from C.O.R.E. and an Italian vehicle show at Wendy's headquarters in Dublin. There will be lots of Ferraris, Lambo's and of course Ducatis. With so many options open the possibility for hair on fire, ego fest just doesn't sound real appealing. I'm still up in the air as to what I'm doing.

  4. Hey guys thanks fo the input. I knew I was a little stiff in those pics they were from earlier in the day. I thought I was getting my ass off the bike more than that when I was riding but after looking at the pics I can see I wasn't. I will work on that more the next time. Yota you are probably correct, I will go in the first group next time. I know I will never be a racer or racing for that matter, I just want to get better at what I love to do and wish I could have startd earlier in life doing it. Thanks again guys :)

  5. I am planning on going tonight. This will be the first Wednesday that I have not been otherwise commited with work or family all summer so far. I would like to meet the Ohioriders group up there, kind of put a face with a name sorta thing. What time and where does everyone meet?

  6. Well my first track day was a total sucess. Learned an awfull lot and rode much faster than I thought I would, for being my first time on the track. I can't wait to do it again. I was in group two and it was much faster than I thought it would be. I got a little frustrated at the end of the day cause I wanted to go faster but couldn't do to the no passing in your own group rule. I'll most likely go intermediate next time. Oh and man are my legs sore :D

Yota and Asain I want to ride with you guys next time for sure.:metal:

  7. And why did they take him to Grant if he was right outside Doctor's?

Grant is a level 1 trauma center and Doctor's is not. Being in the emergency medical bussiness I can tell you with no doubt at all if my life is ever on the line do to a traumatic accident I want to go to Grant ER.

Glad to hear your buddy is going to be fine.

  8. Did he ever jump again?

My old roommate and I shared a first name... He was quite large so I immediately became Little Zach (I preferred Zach the Lesser)... ANYWAY...

He got into sky diving... He was too big to do a tandem jump (strapped to an instructor) , so he had to do static line jumps (rip cord attached to the plane, jump and the cord is immediately pulled)...

One weekend he came home... arm in a sling, bandages EVERYWHERE, and on crutches... "DUDE, WTF HAPPENED TO YOU?".... 'I hit a house.' WTF?

Apparently he jumped out of the plane and instead of pulling out the chute immediately, the rip cord broke. He tried to pull it, but it was fucked. He attempted to stay calm and keep his form proper to avoid getting into a spin, and went for his reserve. No dice. So here you have a 300lb+ guy plummeting towards the ground accellerating at 32ft/sec/sec. Not good.

FINALLY he got the reserve to work, but at about 1,500 feet... Not really enough to slow him down properly. He said as he was falling, he was moving too fast to steer correctly... then he noticed some power lines and a roof... It was one or the other... He chose the roof. In his own words, "everything under me was getting bigger... it was just that the roof and the power lines were getting bigger, MUCH FASTER than anything else."

Crash landing onto the roof he blew out his knee immediately and slid down one section, onto another section on his arms and face. He slid off the other section on his legs and ass, then into a flower bed. From there he rolled into the gravel driveway that was recessed about 4 feet lower than the flower bed... ultimately re-injuring an old college football earned, torn rotator cuff. Somewhere along the way he also sprained his ankle.

The people living in the house were an elderly couple. They thought someone had crashed their car into the house... that's how loud it was. They called 911 and came out to find my buddy wadded up in their driveway. After a few hours in the hospital getting scrubbed, wrapped, and x-rayed he was released.

You should have seen him... Ankle wrapped, knee in a soft cast, arm in a sling (and trying to negotiate crutches), face, arms, and legs wrapped in gauze. He was a fucking MESS... One lucky SOB, but a mess none the less.

  9. If you've got your Airport Firefighter certs, then you can apply where I work... Other then that, take a trip on your bike around 270 with a bookbag and grab as many applications as you can. Take a few days to fill them out and return them with copies of all your certs and what not. I know that West Lick-me Co. is going to hire more FF's soon... I would go over there and get an application.

Bowhunt, No I won't be doing the trackday on the 30th... is that this month with SBTT?? I'll be there helping my friend in the pits for vintage race weekend on his RS125, then I'll be there for the Superbike weekend racing in the upper paddock area on my NSR for a demo event. Come check it out if you plan on going.

Email or call me sometime if you and your buddy are planning on going for a ride... even if it is somewhere local and just to get out! I'm always riding by myself and it is getting boring!

    Sounds good.

  10. Can either of you guys get me a job at the Fire Department. I have been out of the academy for almost a year now and cant get a damn job. Im getting frustrated with it and im about to just give up, but I love the job so much is the reason I havent yet. Let me know I would appreciate it.

Medic? Former military? These are the two things needed for here. Well you eally don't have to be former military but they get the first dibs over civilans.

  11. Yeah, our schedule is crazy as well... we don't work 48-72's, but 24 on 24 off 24 on 72 off, then next week is 24 on, 48 off 8 on 72 off. We get 3 kelly days every 2 weeks and it works out to a 104hr pay period. I've been getting a ton of OT the last few months, we've got 3 or 4 possitions to fill and I just racked in 64hrs of OT last pay!

The pay scale here state side isn't too bad, now that we have a union to back us up and all that stuff... I'm happy. I know if I were to go fulltime anywhere else (like Columbus) that I would take a huge pay cut and I don't want to do that. I also, don't want to work 48-72's... I like my schedule now and my family does also... I've got my son's daycare setup around my set schedule.

Not a medic yet (just an EMT) I've been wanting to go, and I even started Medic school back when I was stationed in NC, but was sent to Kuwait 2weeks into the class so I had to drop out. I've never had the chance to go back, and my schedule won't allow me to go to medic school unless I want to take a boat load of leave... I don't have any because I use almost all of it racing in the summer!

Do you ever use the gym on DSCC?? I use to workout there back in the day when I was home on leave, it was nice. I was thinking about going back there to workout since I've got a military ID

I see you live in Pickerington, I'm in Blacklick off Waggoner Rd, Noth of E.Broad St, let me know if you want to go out riding sometime!

    BCONRAD@wowway.com

I guess everyone gets used to qhatever schedule they have and everyone elses seems difficult.

I use the gym all the time. We try to make it part of our daily routine to go and workout every afternoon.

Sounds good to me about riding sometime. I have a friend that rides a 998 that lives over by you. We will have hook up sometime. Are you going to the track day on the 30th? I am and it will be my first track day and I am as giddy as a school girl, I can't waite.

  12. thats pretty cool, does your area include the army reserve drill center on country club rd. in whitehall?

Yeah we run over there, not been there yet though.

Yeah, I know all about DSCC...Where you in the military?? Reason I ask is because I applied there about 5 or 6 years ago (when I was still in the military) and the chief told me that they just started hiring paramedic's.

I now work for Rickenbacker FD... I know there are a few guys at DSCC that worked at RFD before.

We are 1 of the 4 State Fire Dept's here in Ohio and we respond mostly off the airport (with either or engine, tanker or rescue ) with Hamilton Twp, Madison Twp, CFD, and Harrison Twp FD's.

I've been at Rickenbacker FD for 4 yrs now, but I've been a firefighter for almost 10yrs... I can't see myself doing anything else! I'm trying to get on somewhere PT, since I only work 8-10 days a month! I know you guys are on some crazy ass schedule right

The schedule is funky at first but I love it and so does the family. I work 48 hrs on 72 off, it's really is nice. It actualy rotates 2 on 3 off, 2 on 3 off, 2on 2off, that way I work the same set schedule every two weaks. We are on a 106 hour pay cycle with an additional 38 hours OT on each check. Yes I was in the Marine Corps back in the day. We will be hiring in the not to disdant future if you are looking to go Federal instead of State., not sure of your guys pay scales. Are you a medic also? It is a requirement here.

  13. I am a Federal Firefighter at DSCC. I have been here just over a year and worked out at Violet Township till this past spring. Here at DSCC we are a ladder co. and are Whitehall's first responding ladder co. We work very closely with them. It is a great job and wouldn't give it up for anything. Where are you at?
