  1. Aye, let's just hope it's affordable.

I think that's one thing it won't be. The RS looks great of course, but I highly doubt it'll end up below 40K out the door. (especially with Ford announcing everything but price on this thing).

Personally, I'm more interested in a Fiesta RS. Give me the tossability of the Fiesta ST with Focus ST power and awd? Yes please.

  2. ST bros! Thoughts on 1000 mile oil changes? Just hit 1k yesterday and I'm trying to decide whether I should do it ASAP, or wait till 3k or so. Also, mods. How is Ford with mods? With my old WRX, Subaru was pretty strict. I know you can get the Ford racing tune and intake and keep your warranty, but how does that work if I've got an extended 7/75k bumper-bumper warranty? Honestly beyond that all I want to do is get a new intercooler to help with heat soak, and an oil catch can.

    Delayed response sorry.

But basically the ford racing warranty is a seperate warranty that takes place of all parts affected by the frpp tune (so your engine basically). It's a 3 year/36000 mile warranty. After that, you will no longer have warranty coverage on anything said tune affects, though you'll still maintain warranty on unrelated parts. It would be same thing with your extended warranty, non-affected parts would maintain warranty while affected would lose it after the frpp warranty runs out.

I've heard on and offs about Ford being pretty strict. A guy on the facebook group said he had his warranty voided from an intercooler, which is sad giving how shit the stock one is. Nick's dealer seems to be more friendly though and that's where I plan on going in the event of anything major.

In a nut shell, most people just go the Cobb AP route and just flash back to stock for dealer visits, this way you maintain your original warranty. Cobb (and the tuners) claim their is no way for Ford to be able to tell your car is tuned, all the flash does is trigger a code for battery disconnect that will go away after a couple key cycles.

Here's a thread from the ST forums with some info on the FRPP warranty stuff.

  3. I had a 2000 accord v6 for quite a while, it ended up going through two transmissions I believe and I know Honda actually got sued over the transmission problems with that model. Transmissions going were a pretty common problem with them.

Just saying, might not last too long on a rebuilt one either if you're thinking of keeping it after fixing it. I'd probably cut your losses and sell it.

  4. What do you guys think would be a good price for a 2015 ST3? I'm in DC, think it would be cheaper to head home to Ohio? That's where I'll register it anyway.

If you can find them, you can get some good deals on new 14s. Since they changed the body style, the 14s going quite a bit cheaper.

Unless you're set on a 15 of course.

  5. Yay more STs! Nice pick up, the white fits the 15 models pretty well I think.

I have not climbed under the car to take a look yet. If it wasn't, I was just going to put a E Focus one in there.

Yup, you got the efocus. I haven't had any crazy issues with mine mount wise, it will bang on a hard 1st to 2nd shift, but I fixed that problem by just not launching the car.

  6. If he got his CDL through the military, I could probably get him into my company doing yard work. Basically just moving semi trailers in/out doors and into the lot and so on. He wouldn't be on the road at all, just private lots.

Starts at $15/hour I think. Got full time and part time positions

  7. So does anyone know if she was drunk or is it just speculation?

One summer in college I drove a cab on third shift (not a yellow cab, a hire car) on long island. Used to see lots of people on the road asleep in their cars, usually at traffic lights. Most weren't drunk (at least the ones on the weeknights weren't usually) to my observation, just driving too late at night and too tired. NY now treats falling asleep behind the wheel as a first offense DUI it was that much of a problem. I've fallen asleep behind the wheel before, never for more than a split second, and I can tell you when your body gets to that level of exhaustion you don't make smart decisions. I usually pull over to the shoulder and sleep for about an hour, so I can sympathize if she wasn't drunk, but she sure picked the wrong spot to conk out.

I drive a truck, so i've been in the exhausted as hell realm a few times. Even so, I feel if someone is bashing on my window with a flashlight, I'd probably wake the hell up, tired or not.

Regardless, lady is lucky she or someone else wasn't killed. If she was actually drunk (or high or whatever), hope they throw the book at her.

  8. From what little I know, it's a huge pain in the ass. Basically, the city has to have had people call and complain about that particular pothole, then the city has a certain amount of days to go out and fix it. If your vehicle is damaged after those days, then you get a chance at a claim. If the city has not been notified of the pothole or the days haven't passed yet for them to fix it, you're pretty much screwed.

Best you can do is call the city and get the appropriate number and what have you, can try to file a claim but I wouldn't hold your breath.

  9. I, for one, am super excited for this. It looks awesome from every angle, the AWD system sounds fantastic, and I can't wait to try one out. It will look awesome on the showroom sitting next to the GT350.

Let me know when you get one, so I can 'try it out' also. :D

Honestly, I expect these to hit 40K in the price tag department though. So I'll just stick with my ST, makes me happy enough. Have to admit, Ford really has been blowing it out of the water lately, lots of cool cars coming up.

I watch way too much youtube. These are some of my favorites least. Mostly a mix of gamers and car stuff.

  11. Expect a price to match as well. 35-40k I'd think.

The general guess, least on the ST forums, is the car will probably run 40k+. Especially considering a fully loaded ST runs about 30k. Ford said they only planned on bringing a 'limited' number of RSs over to the US, which will also drive the price point up more.

  12. Thanks for the input guys. I'm still a little torn on it to be honest. Because the thing is, I really like black and this black in particular (ford's tuxedo black) is one of the nicest blacks I've seen.

As far out of cars I've owned I've actually cared about, would be red and white. I found red pretty easy and personally thought white was a pain in the ass. But both I was real happy when they were all cleaned up. This car will be a mix of a daily and fun weekend car, it'll be garaged and won't see snow. All that type of deal.

Just with my work schedule, I can't afford to spend tons of time going crazy on washing my vehicles. One of the reasons I go for, spray it down and then touch less wash type thing.

I think in the end, I'll just go with 'money talks' and if the deal is good enough, I'll just go for it. Just wanted to get some views from you guys.

  13. So after spending some time looking. I finally found a car with all the options I want and that is a good match to me. Dealer also seems to be offering a very good price.

The thing is, the car is black. Ive always heard black cars are a complete nightmare to keep clean.

Now I don't really have the time or patience to sit back and do a big detail of my cars. Usually only do it a few times a year. In between that, I usually just hose them off and hit a touch less wash once a week.

So basically, is black as bad as people make it out to be? Will a quick wash once a week suffice? I just like my cars clean, the mirror coat shine and such isn't really a concern to me.

  14. Well throwing my baby up for sale. Would really prefer it goes to another enthusiast who treats the car right as opposed to some idiot 16 year old. So trying forums first.

Car is a 2006 Saturn Ion Redline, it is the Competition Edition which includes foglights, comp. edition wheels, LSD, and a steering wheel mounted Ladder tach/boost gauge. For those who do not know, the Redline is basically Saturn's version of the Cobalt SS (the supercharged one). Almost all the parts are identical between the two cars.

Power windows and such, 6 CD changer with Aux port, Sunroof, and Recaro seats. Car is a quad coupe, front 2 doors open normally and rear has 2 doors that open suicide. (Insurance usually considers it a 4 door)

Car currently has just a tick under 56k miles and might go up slowly. I am the second owner of the car and bought it almost 3 years ago with 23k on it. Since I have owned this car it has been garaged and has not seen snow. Heck, I try to avoid rain in it when I can.

Carfax is clean on the car.

    ZZP 3 Inch Catted Downpipe

ZZP 3 Inch Catback (with chambered resonator)

CX Racing Duel Pass Heat Exchanger (Custom Mounted by IPS)

    Autometer Digital EGT Gauge (Red)

A dimmer set up for the EGT Guage

Nightshaded Taillights/Corner Lights (can be removed easily if not your taste)

Continental Extreme Contact DWS Tires (About 95% tread life left)

I DO NOT have many of the stock parts left but will include a GMS2 pulley (3.062) if you wish to change to a gas tune along with any stock parts I can find.

The ignition recall will be done on the car this week. Parts still on order for the power steering recall.

If the car is not sold within the next months or so, I do plan on doing a trunk swap for a wingless trunk in the same color. If new owner buys car prior to swapping the trunk, I can put you in contact with the guy who want's to swap if you'd like to lose the wing.

Current 'Bads' for this car. I'll list everything I can think of.

    One wheel is curbed

Front passenger side of bumper has some paint scrape and a tiny crack (near the bottom)

Driver side fender has a tiny crack near bottom

The ABS/Ebrake light like to pop on occasionally, sometimes they stay on and sometimes just a quick flash. (I've had three shops look at this problem, scanned the ABS with a tech2 multiple times and have never found anything wrong.)

Minor rock chips and the like

The JCS pod has some minor wear and tear on it. JCS will fix these for free, I just haven't bothered as most of the tear is hard to see.

Car is located in Lancaster Ohio.

I'm asking $9,000 which is what I owe on the car.

Not interested in trades and I'm not parting out.

  15. That may be the case but I doubt it. I think it comes down to the fact that NY, PA, MA all have state Police forces rather than state highway patrols. Their mandate includes protecting highways but you rarely see them camped out just generating revenue.

I've done the OH-MA drive at least 25 times in the last 10 years, via i90, i80/81/84, and i70, and on none of those highways do you ever see traffic enforcement out in such numbers as OSHP.

California man. Nothing comes close to the CHP. Everytime I went there, they were literally everywhere. And in a semi, they were like your worst nightmare.

I remember Georgia having an absolute shit ton last time I was in the Atlanta area. They use unmarked Suvs too, all over the place. But I will admit, Ohio does have a shit ton of them out there. Defiantly one of the more 'patrolled' states.

On Sunday was up on campus and saw CPD had set up a speed trap on I70. Had one car lasering with a line of CPD cars next to him going after whoever he signaled for.

Also amusingly enough saw a Groveport Police Officer radaring on US-33, pretty far out of his jurisdiction. So, guessing they were doing a lot of working together going hard this past weekend.

  16. If u get one cheap that needs painted I can do that. Just change the color( be happy to do it for a lsj guy) seeing your car makes me miss my redline :/

Ha thanks. I will keep that in mind. Though it's been a pain more times then one, I do love my stupid Saturn. I'm just not a huge fan of the wing, I think they look much cleaner without it.

Their are still a few redline guys running around up here. Tennpenn has a build thread on here of his beast and then a few other stock/stage 2 guys round.

  17. Looking for a wingless trunk for my car. Has to be matching color (chili pepper red) and in good condition.

I am willing to trade my current wing/trunk set up or buy it outright.

While I don't think anyone on here has one, I would appreciate the help in looking for one. I will offer a $50 finders fee to anyone that finds one for me local. I've been looking a long time but the wingless model in my color is pretty rare.

Since someone will say it, I have already got quoted on filing the holes and it's just too much.
