  1. hey guys I have a powdercoating shop in Huron and have done a few jobs for some other member here on the forum.

NinjaNick your swing arm would be 125.00 that includes all the striping

and max I charge 75 a wheel for auto/truck wheels That price includes chemical stripping.

  2. Hell yeah that green looks real good on that black! I appreciate the shout out Whitey word of mouth has been pretty much my only marketing tool lol and it works great thanks a ton! anyway I just wanted to share a few pics i took while doing these parts. Thanks and enjoy!

After the parts are chemically stripped down to bare metal there media blasted to etch the substrate I do this extra step to give the surface a mechanical bond for the best adhesion. here they are in the abrasives cabinet.

to many layers of paint and things start to get thick and brittle.

special care is taken to protect sensitive areas during sand blasting.

After all the parts are clean they go through a 3 stage wash system. Sorry no pics of that process i forgot I was taking pictures during this part of the job lol.

In the oven with the first coat cured. Notice how dull the finish is almost a drab ugly green.

Then voila a high gloss crystal clear coat brings out the pigments.

  3. how are you going to fit large fairings in a oven? some fairings are rather gigantic. take a gsxr set of race fairings. you would need a walk in oven.

seems impractical when I can paint a set in an hour and they are ready to be mounted in 2-3 hours.

how would the body fillers hold up in those high temps for one. probably going to ruin more sets than anything.

but I'm still rooting for you. sounds very interesting.

Well I have a large oven. I wouldnt say it qould be practical if you wanted a quick paint job. however if you wanted a crazy show quality candy lime green or somthing like that it would deff be less then half the cost to have them coated vs. having a body shop do them.

  4. Sweet. Im pretty sure you can send them out collect. Ill check it out

    I really appreciate the help.

I experimented with two fairings today. the first one I slowy ramped up in the oven to see the melting point. After the first one was wasted I put in my other donor fairing. Here is the good news, I sprayed the the fairng and cured it at a low temp for a long period of time and burned the powder. This tells me I can cure it at lower temps. I just need to get the time figured out now. I also did some QC tests on them today and passed.

No promises but from what i found out today it looks like it can be done. Plus the powder in theroy according to the sherwin williams rep will bond better with plastic than any other substrate since powder is basically plastic dust.

I will get some pics of the test fairings i did today soon.

    Thanks Mike

  5. Hey guys i need your help. Ive been experimenting by powdercoating fairings. I almost have it dialed in. by using longer cure times at lower temperature im getting the parts cured without any warpage. but before i do a good set i still want to keep experimenting and dial in the temps and time to an exact. So im looking for anyone who has junk fairings laying around and would want to donate them. Ill pay shipping.

    thanks alot

    Mike

  6. I know when ever I pull up next to an Fugly chick on a bike I cannot wait to get out of there... So it may seem as if I want to race you but in reality I'm just trying to get away!!!!!!!

    lol

    Perfect answer

  7. The few I have seen have all been ridden by older guys. My guess is that they rode for years, but are now physically unable to ride. They don't want to give up a bike, so they move to a trike that they are able to handle. Just my opinion.

I know a old guy that own a trike just for this reason. He is cool as hell and has tons of stories and loves to ride. Just cant do it with 2 wheels anymore.

  8. Harbor freight equipment is garbage. I bought some for a back up gun used it once and never again. also heating parts in your oven can work but i wouldnt plan on eating food cooked out of it. Chemicals and what not. But yea i Have 2 styles of ovens one is a 20 foot long infared conveyor oven that can handle extremely long parts and a convection batch oven used for most normal parts.

  9. yeah, and Obobo is planning on something similar cuz he is muslim right?

Im not sure what he is, But i do know he is to radical for me and has to many questionable dealings with people who do not have the best interst of the country on their agenda. The world is a small place these days so does it seem that far fetched?

  10. Ive been hearing alot on the news/internet questioning Obamas Citizenship. It seems a easy way to put this controversy to a end is to simply show his real birth certificate. What i dont understand is why he does not do just that. What do you all think the outcome would be if infact they were able to prove that he is NOT a natural born citizen, considering this is one of the requirements that has been respected and followed for most if not all of our countrys history.
