  1. I had really good luck with my Qstarz BT-Q1000. It was reliable, provided a lot of data and it only cost $200. The downside is that you have to hook it up to a laptop to see the data. Then I wanted to try to make cool videos like Ryan Hill. I had an old iPhone, so I purchased the XGPS160 and Harry Lap Timer App. It worked, but I didn’t like it as much as Ryan’s set up and then I remembered that my wife had an old Android phone. So I bought the Race Chrono app that Ryan was using and I love the set up. It makes syncing lap-time data with your GoPro pretty easy. The best feature is the predictive-lap-time display. During a lap I can take a quick look and see how my current lap compares to my best lap of the session. It’s nice to know when you have a good lap going so you can continue to push. It’s also great that this data transfers to the video so you can look back at the lap and see where you made-up / lost time. Having said all of that, I believe the AIM Solo has all the same capability and I’m sure would be a cleaner solution.

For reference, the predictive-lap-time data is the green / red number in the upper right hand corner of the video.

    From the website:

"Free paddock camping available on the following dates:

    June 12th, 13th, 18th
    July 3rd

Just got off the phone with them(everyone there is so nice and responsive).  If you are just doing the trackday Monday, they will let you in after 7pm Sunday.  That seems to be the norm at this point, showed up early to a prior event and the car/bike had to sit at the gate till 6.

BTW advance group is about half and intermediate is about 2/3 full.

    Thanks Ryan! You da man!!!

The 750 took a shit on my NYST dreams. Got 2 decent sessions to learn the track; then the engine sporadically would have no power on roll on.  I believe it was the electrical connection to the secondary throttle valve actuator; which is fixed, but I'm still hesitant to assume it is completely corrected.  My plan is to put the 600 together and take both to the next couple track days.

NYST is my Eleanor.....missed out on two PERFECT days and drove ~14 hours to be frustrated by a mechanical.

    Sorry to hear that Ryan!

I'm assuming camping in the pits will be permitted Sunday night as usual?

  4. Both days were pretty good for me. I wanted to make it down into the 1:40's on Monday and the 1:39's on Tuesday, which I was able to do. Was hoping to go quicker but my day ended 3 sessions early on Tuesday when I stripped a pinch bolt on my forks trying to get some fresh tires on. Still working on trying to remove that bolt...

  5. Made a dumb mistake and earned a trip to the ER.  Broken collarbone, everything else seems OK.  I was having a great day until then.  Pics and vid to come.

Sorry to hear that! I helped them unload your bike. I was pitted not far from you (Black GSXR 750 #25 - White Ford Van).

  6. I did this day last year with STT and it was a lot of fun. I believe there were 2 classes AMA racers and a combined A/I class. Will that be the same format this year? What will the passing rules be? I heard that at the last combined A/I event you were only allowed to pass when the bikes were straight up and down? Not even outside passes in corners? Trying to decide if I want to do this day or not...
