  8. What gloves do you guys like for this usage? The Aeromoto gloves I have now are 5yrs old, and have a couple seams coming apart so time for a replacement. These were great gloves. Track ready (ish), vents that actually work, kangaroo skin palms. I'd get another pair, but Aeromoto was a house brand for competition accessories, and they don't sell them any more. Thanks in advance for your input!

  13. There used to be a leather place on Route 14 in Streetsboro which sold outstanding jackets and motorcycle gear made with leather. That place no longer exists. Anyone know of stores in Ohio or within 100 miles of Cleveland that sells leather motorcycle jackets and other apparel? I don't want to buy from online and run the risk of having to return what does not fit right. Thanks, Fin

  16. I have a mount between the handlebars which holds my phone while I ride. In order to be able to actually do anything with it, I needed to get or make touchscreen motorcycle gloves. I had already purchased Scorpion SG3 gloves and like them, so I wanted to find a way to make them work with touchscreen devices. I ended up buying both Nanotips and Anyglove - leather versions only - and trying them out. The first product I found and tried was Nanotips, which I saw on TwoWheelObsession on YouTube. Nanotips makes me think of black nail polish. The bottle is shaped like a nail polish bottle. The cap has a brush in it that is like a nail polish brush. It smells like nail polish. You paint the liquid onto your glove's fingertip and let it dry. It is generally recommended that you use a hair dryer for drying. When I didn't, the gloves weren't quite as good at touchscreens, but that second layer may have mattered more. Nanotips essentially creates a black rubbery layer on your gloves. Worked fine for me while the rubber stayed on. After two weeks it peeled off my index fingers, and about three days after that it peeled off my thumbs. During that time I had found out about Anyglove and bought a bottle to try. Anyglove comes in a bottle with a drip tip. Drip on, smear around, dry with a hair dryer. This stuff didn't make a separate layer over the leather. In fact, it wasn't very visible at all on the black leather. Durability was also better - three weeks is the least an application has lasted. I definitely like Anyglove better than Nanotips. I'm wondering if Nanotips' rubbery layer might be better for rough leather or other non-smooth surfaces. The layer might also have lasted longer if I had cleaned my gloves better. If you have any questions, ask away!
  17. I have a nice set of full gauntlet AGV Sport race gloves for sale. I bought them a few years back and they ended up being just a bit too small for me. They are size Large. I kept them around as backups, but they've just been sitting around so I figured I might as well get rid of them. They have only been used a handful of times and are in great shape. They look pretty cool too. Red, black, and white in color. Great glove at a cheap price! $50.00 plus shipping, or local Cleveland pickup. (For some reason it won't let me upload the pics because they are too large, which is ridiculous. Just email me at mpm109@case.edu for pics or request in this thread with an email address.)
  18. The latest iteration from Alpinestars for their SMX-2 Air Carbon riding glove. Featuring the latest updates in safety as well as touchscreen compatibility, Alpinestars has really refined this glove into an excellent short cuff piece to add to your collection. Alpinestars has redesigned the look of their carbon knuckles for a sleeker appearance and provides better performance in case of impact. Synthetic suede reinforcements on the palm, fingers, and landing zones provide maximum abrasion resistance in key impact zones. 3D mesh finger and thumb surfaces for additional cooling as well as touchscreen compatible index and thumb fingertips. Available from Riders Discount with MSRP $79.95 in black, black/green, black/red (pictured), black/white/hi-viz yellow. The women's Stella SMX-2 Air Carbon is also available. Fit is standard Alpinestars. For more information or help with sizing, get in touch with MIKE through this forum or give him a call at 866.931.6644 ext. 804. Is email more convenient? Write to us at FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM, and we'll get back to you right away!
  19. I've acquired some new gear that fits me a little better so I'm selling off all my other stuff. (Pics posted below) Alpinestars Carver Race Suit Sz. 46/56 Used this suit for two seasons and it has served me well. The suit is solid and in good shape. I've crashed in it twice (no injuries), so it has the expected scrapes and scuffs. There is a very small hole in one of the forearms, but there is armor behind it and it was so small that I didn't bother having it fixed. I also had to have the left ass cheek panel repaired. I put a decent hole in the leather there, and my leather repair guy ended up placing a new leather panel over that entire area. The black leather he used is a slightly different texture than the rest, but it is hardly noticeable unless you're looking for it. That part of the suit is probably stronger than it was before. Other than that this is a really good suit for racing, track days, or the street. $300 Komodo K-FX Race Gloves Sz. L (but honestly fit more like a XXL) These gloves are amazing! Very comfortable and super protective. Unfortunately, I have very long, skinny hands and fingers, so the length of the gloves was perfect but there's just a little too much room in the body of the glove for me. Only used for a couple of track days and are in excellent condition. Quality gloves: kangaroo palms, full gauntlet with big wrist protector/slider, Schoeller Keprotec used in high impact areas, and Knox Scaphoid Protection System (palm sliders). $90 Alpinestars SP2 Race Gloves Sz. L Used these full gauntlet gloves for two seasons, and they show some signs of wear. Mostly cosmetic though as they are still solid with no rips or tears even though I've been down in them twice. The extra layer of fabric placed over the leather on the left thumb is starting to come off just from wear from the handlebar. I don't think this is a big deal though, they just don't look quite as pretty as they used to. Good protection for cheap. $40 Alpinestars SMX-R Race Boots Sz. 47 (12 U.S.) Also used these for two race seasons and these bad boys show it! Crashed in twice but they saved my feet. Still a solid pair of boots but with a few issues: hole wearing through on top of the left foot from shifter, hole wore through on right boot ankle from rubbing on my heel guard, and sole of right boot pretty worn from the sharp ass Vortex foot peg. But still better protection than no boots at all! Would probably be nice for a street guy too who wants a little extra protection for "spirited" rides. $60 Prices do not include shipping, but I'm willing to meet people within a reasonable distance. I live in Cleveland, but will be in Columbus starting mid-May. Email is the best way to contact me: mpm109@case.edu Pics will be posted below.
