Helmutt
I'm liking the versatility of the Magpul PRS but the damned pricetag is holding me back from nabbing a couple of these for a pair of rifles that I'm building with my Dad. Shopping around online, I found Luth-AR's MBA stocks. They appear to be just a little more versatile than the PRS by allowing multiple positions of where both the LOP adjuster and upper comb can be mounted on the stock, as well as a bit further adjustment on the LOP. Anyone have any hands-on experience with the MBA stocks? The price is almost half of the Magpul, so that in itself has enticed me to want it...plus the added adjustability is really driving me towards them too.I'm sure I haven't shopped all my options out, but these 2 options are pretty close to what I'm after -- planning to mount it on a fixed rifle buffer tube assembly. Any other adjustable makes out there that I'm not aware of that would suit my wants/needs/wallet?? Helmutt
No opinion on either.. here's a professional opinion. http://briankevinnelson.com/first-impression-luth-ar-mba-stock-1332 why a fixed tube? if i might ask. Thanks AJ, I'd read a few reviews online but was hoping for some personal experience here. These both require a fixed rifle length tube, they're aren't notched for collapsible stock buffer tubes, plus they're precision builds ( of sorts anyway, my first attempt ) so once adjusted for me, I can keep the repeatability easier with a fixed stock.I'm really leaning towards the MBA stock since it can also be locked in after I adjust it, whereas the PRS adjusters just have detents to hold things in place. Detent seems to me like it'd be a bit of an open door to where it could be bumped out of position.
flounder
I have a PRS on my precision AR. Love it!. I dont have any problems with 2" groups at 400 and Ive taken it to 1,000 with no issues. Its sturdy, stable, repeatable, and adjustable.
kawi kid
My experience with the PRS is the same as flounder. I have had great success with the stock.

I'd assumed there would be more positive feedback about the PRS than anything else due to Magpul's popularity and the limited market for precision AR stocks. They were my first choice, just pricier than expected. Thread retitled to try and draw more interest outside of just the 2 makes. Keep it coming folks, diverse opinions desired
kawi kid
I had just your standard a2 stock for a long time. Cheap and effective. I switched to the PRS because of the need for adjustment.
Helmutt
I first thought about the simpler A1/A2 stock, but since it lacked adjustment I decided otherwise myself. Plus I want an adjustable comb so I can have the option of various optic/riser setups and keep a comfy cheek weld
kawi kid
That was my reason for changing.
Helmutt
Well, I opted for the Luth-AR MBA-1 modular buttstocks. Should arrive at the end of the week and plan to build these rifles this weekend. I'll post up a little review once they're mounted, and maybe more insight once they've had a little field testing
Helmutt
Got both stocks today. Impressed with how rigid they are for a skeletonized design. Armalite injection molded frames. The adjustment rails are serated, so once in place and locked down, they are rock solid. The adjustment assemblies mounting nuts are captive and partially recessed into the frame, so no 2nd wrench is needed to move their positions on the stock, just back out the screws/reposition the mount/refasten with the included ( and stowed onboard ) allen wrench. I especially like the fact that the comb can be moved fore/aft to adjust for varying eye reliefs between optics and still have a good cheek weld.LuthAR boast their stock weighs in about 1/2 pound less than the PRS, has a bit more adjustment in the LOP and riser, as well as the pricetag is about $100 less than the PRS....so, it's obvious who their target competitor was with this design. Now, I'm not discrediting Magpul's product, this was just more befitting my taste and budget. All win so far, but once I get the guns built and fitted properly is when the true tests will happen.
