ShawnR
I met a guy who asked me what I would charge to replace the fork seals on his 85 Goldwing. I've done lots of fork seals on my own bikes, but never done them "for hire" as a paying job. Seal kit itself runs about $20, but what is the going labor cost for replacing them? The Goldwing might be a PITA because of the fairings too, anybody have experience with those? Thanks in advance.
Gixxus Christ!
I charge $50/hr for labor. It puts me under the local shops pricing and still allows me to make decent money. Fairings shouldn't be An issue as long as you can get to the bolts on the yokes. If you do have to pull the fairing it's a chore because you need to undo all the electric connections behind the headlight, and every wire in that bike runs through the headlight. redkow97
Yeah, I wouldn't trust a cheap stand on that one... Ratchet straps over a home-made support I'm addition to a typical steering stem stand would probably work. I used to hang my bike from my sister's swing set before I had a front stand. No issues...it's got a mechanical ratchet stay on it so even if the hydraulic jack fails the bike isn't going anywhere, and wings are nice and wide on the bottom so they plant pretty good on a stand and don't want to fall to one side or another. redkow97
I have a "T-Rex" front stand... It's pretty solid, and I have no complaints about it for use with sporbikes, or even my Katana, but I don't think I'd use it on a Goldwing. If I had Pit-Bull stands, I wouldn't hesitate.
