Benjamin Smith, a 15-year-old CCS racer from Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, is excited to expand his road-racing experiences this season in MotoAmerica's KTM RC 390 Cup.

Former AMA Superbike race-winner Dale Quarterley is returning to professional motorcycle road racing with Quarterley Racing: On Track Development. Quarterley and veteran club racer Bob Robbins have formalized a strategic alliance to help young, up-and-coming riders realize their dreams on the racetrack. On Track Development will offer riders a place to expand their talent while developing sportsmanship and winning ways.

Draik Beauchamp and Benjamin Smith finalized plans this month to ride for Quarterley Racing: On Track Development in MotoAmerica's KTM RC 390 Cup. Both Beauchamp and Smith began riding at young ages and progressed rapidly from success on Kawasaki Ninja 250s to the top ranks of Lightweight-class club-level racing on Superstock /Supersport-spec Suzuki SV650s.

Draik Beauchamp, a 16-year-old WERA racer from Knoxville, Tennessee, is looking forward to chasing the KTM RC 390 Cup title.

Draik Beauchamp:

  • WERA Lightweight Twins Superstock Expert national champion
  • Second in Formula Two
  • Five regional championships
  • Seven race wins
  • 33 podium finishes

Benjamin Smith:

  • Ten wins and 17 podium finishes from 25 starts in CCS Mid-Atlantic rounds riding a Suzuki SV650
  • Lightweight lap record at New Jersey Motorsports Park with a time of 1 minute, 28.7 seconds.
  • Fourth-place finish in his first KTM 390 Cup race at NJMP

“Beauchamp and Smith are the perfect fit for the team’s 2016 goals," Quarterley said. "Both riders bring their natural talent to the team. Coached with experienced guidance from Bob and me, and with mentoring from their teammate, Anthony Kosinski, who is contesting the MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 series, we expect to see great progress from these young riders.”

Now in its second season, the KTM RC 390 Cup promises to be fiercely competitive for 2016 and serve as a great platform for young riders with the ambition to progress into MotoAmerica's middleweight classes and compete at the top level of US road racing. Beauchamp and Smith say they are counting the days until the first event at Road Atlanta, April 15-17.
