The longer you prolong things the greater the chances that the cop won't show. If you have a test that day use it as an excuse. Then when you do goto court you ask the cop tons of questions. How accurate was his car's speedo? What was the traffic like? Weather? Be a prick on the details and try to get him to slip on any of the facts. If he does you're golden.I had a ticket in Indiana in my car. I got it posponed 3 or 4 times before I went to Japan for a month. Eventually I got it put off the enitre summer like 4 months and by the time I had to go in (I didn't have a good enough excuse to get another continuance) the cop had gotten transfered and didn't show. Long empty road, clear skies, the drone of the eng*zzzzzz* oops, sorry. Actually I'm not surprised I didn't see him behind me; the mirrors on my bike are all but worthless. I've gotta move my elbows in about 4 or 5 inches to see anything behind me. Sneaky bastard X-(I would try to get it postponed and stuff, but I'm moving back home for the summer the day after my court date, and start back to work 2 days after that. I don't really have time to ride the 3ish hours down to Lancaster just for the small chance of a no-show or something. I think I'll just try to get it knocked down somehow. Like I said, I really doubt I was doing 90. You've actually gotta give the throttle a good twist to hit 90 on my bike, and the engine vibrations are very noticable at that speed. I would have CERTAINLY noticed if I was hauling that much ass. I think 80 or even 85 would be more realistic. Maybe cite the fact that a lot of japenese sportbikes have innacurate speedometers or something (try it; get a GPS and check your speed. Ninja 650's speedos all overshoot your speed by about 10%, so my 90 would have read 99 to me, which is a speed I just do not cruise at).Sadly, this is my second offense. My first one was about 30 months ago in my moms '94 Explorer, doing 50 in a 35 (that truck truely does have an innacurate speedo. My dad got the optional rim upgrade when they bought the truck and the dealership never calibrated the speedometer for the larger diameter wheels/tires). As far as dressing nicely...I doubt I could pull off riding down to Lancaster in a suit I don't have a car :\ I could wear a ton of OSU stuff and hope the judge is a huge Buckeye fan...or maybe give him my tickets for next years games... IE New Rome.Nope... dont speed through Mt Gilead on ohio 95. Just got a ticket there and went to the mandatory court date and the total ticket was $45. No cops dont have to show up to the mayors court. Also, Dont speed on ohio 13 through St Louisville which is south of Utica. Just over 300 people and something like 6 cops!!! They will drop the charge to about half the ticket plus court cost and you can hand them a check to make sure they get it. Freaking 80$ in court costs though, so I still wrote a 100$ check. He still saved me 110$ though, which was nice.I didn't really feel like making the 3 hour trip down to Lancaster in the middle of summer just to fight a speeding ticket that I had little chance of getting around.Luckily, my insurance hasn't picked up on it yet. I think that's a little present that I'll let em stumble upon on their own... (The bitch is, I got the packet from Progressive for my new policy that's auto-renewing next month.
