Nate1647545505
Question: Is the stock heat exchanger (not intercooler, just radiator in front of the car) viwed as an effective and reliable unit? Thanks! Nate
Dr. Pomade
Yeah, on a stock 03. Raising the boost any though tends to warrant an upgrade.
Nate1647545505
Thanks John, Can you guys run a smaller pulley without an upgrade?
Dr. Pomade
Yeah, at least a smaller upper pulley (i.e., the pulley we normally mean when we refer to a pulley swap). I'm running a 2.93" and haven't experienced any problems, and several other guys I know are running smaller pulleys than that without needing to upgrade the HE. Mess with the lower pulley, though, and it'll usually require an upgrade.
MaTS1200
The stock unit is actually quite efficient. I run a 2.81 pulley and I've done some long repeated highway pulls without feeling any loss of power. But as John pointed out, if you add an upper/lower combo heat could become a problem and you might want to upgrade.

I have probably 3/4s of an 03s whp, so I think this may work out just fine. Thanks again
