Guest jpurdy2003
I know some of you have experience with these cars, and this question is too subjective and dumb to be considered tech, but I do need an answer, hopefully soon: What transmission fluid should I use in my Celica's 5-speed manual transmission? Are there any transmission fluids to avoid using in these cars? Thanks.

copperhead
I've got Coastal in my tacoma, and it sucks ass. It doesn't want to change gears at all in the cold, way worse than the previous two winters I've had the truck. I suggest something straight from Toyota, that seems to be the best bet for pretty much everything.
Guest jpurdy2003
I put Valvoline conventional 80W-90 into it today. Was this a bad idea?
Tractor
No its rated for 80W-90. A toyota dealer may use a brand that they get the least complaints about, but any 80w-90 gear oil would work and wouldn't damage the transmission. You just might experience sticking or otherwise less then smooth shifting. Evan
