Doesn't really effect HP, more of spool time; I guess that does effect HP in end all.

Fluid moves faster when it is hotter.

Keep the thermal heat hot and inside, it should move faster throughout the system. Wraping cast iron can crack, wrapping an aluminum may cause it to rust. There is a spray you can use over the wrap to counter that, though.

I chose to go coated.

Wrapping the "header" will decrease spool up time. Physics really, keeps heat in. Since a turbo is spooled up more by egt than actual pressure (catch 22 really), the heat decrease spool up time. Why else would a little 1.3 litre like a rotary spool up a hefty Greddy T-78 by 3300 rpm's. It is becuase the EGT's on a rotary are high 800/low 900 degree's Celsius.

Imo, wrapping the downpipe will only decrease the underhood temps, therefore keeping the air SLIGHTLY denser.

A customer of ours actually wanted us to "wrap" everything. So we did, on the bottom side of his LIM and UIM have "blankets" adhered to them.
