Guest nosthunder
Im running a 94 302 5.0l v8 and i have a broken egr valve and the pse electronic thing on top is also broken. i was told by a trans shop that it would do nothing but cause check engine to come on. my question is what do these components do and do they need to be replaced immediately? slow4now
EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation. This is a component/system used mainly for emissions control, but it can affect driveability, fuel mileage and idle. I personally would fix it, but I am not sure what exactly it can/will do on a ford as I am not familiar with them at all. Maybe someone else that knows the 302's can chime in here........... Guest FixHondas
EGR cools the combustion process and reduces NOx emissions. An EGR system that does not work properly can cause detonation which leads to problems if not corrected.
