Buck531
With a broken hip . My parents were dropping her off at Polaris yesterday. She must have stepped and thought there wasn't a step (stepping down), lost her balance and fell. (she has bad eyesight). She's at St. Anns right now. She had surgery today and that seemed to go ok. They put a pin in her hip to keep it in place I guess. I'm going to visit her tonight after work. First time in 28 years that I've known her that she's been in the hospital. She's 83 years old btw. BloodRed
I understand her pain. I broke my hip in a car accident when I was 16. My best advise is when they give her the exercises, do them and as many as you can. I was back walking without any help 2 1/2 months later. I know I was a lot younger, but that is my advise. Buck531
Just visited her. Damn, talk about PAIN. They're shooting her up with demerol (sp) every 3 or so hours. She has one of those things on her feet that keeps the blood circulating so she doesn't get any blood clots. Yeah, she's going to be transferring to a center for re-hab on the leg. Hopefully it won't take too long... but I dunno being how old she is.
Conesmasher
Pins are not cool, especially at her age. Good luck and hope she gets well. My grandma has 2 plastic hips.......funny thing is though is she is more mobile than her daughter
